Date a Witch: Reborn as the Witch of Lust! (GL)
Chapter 42: Looming Envy and ’Wrath’

Chapter 42: Looming Envy and ’Wrath’

After telling me to be home, is that all you have to say?

Mel chuckled as she heard a cute grumble echoing in her mind. She could practically visualise Lila’s cheeks bloating into a heated hamster.

She and Calina were walking down the street, hand-in-hand. At first contact, Lila’s concerned voice warmed her heart, until she mentioned bringing Calina to dinner.

The Witch of Lust replied cheerfully. Yes, Lila! Don’t worry, I’m just dropping Miss Calina off at a restaurant before coming back for your dinner.

You two really met by coincidence, right?

Yep yep.

Nothing happened tonight, right?

A faint blush spread across Mel’s cheek, her eyes darting towards the floating System panel. The vivid imagery of her passionate exchange with the Saintess flashed by, her thighs clasping together again with unspoken desire.

Nothing happened tonight. Mel’s heart drummed upon repeating these words like a mantra that would bring her calmness.

Yep! Promise you’ll cook for me? Like always?

Ah. You paused for one second here, didn’t you?

"Eh?" Mel’s lips parted slightly, her face flushing like a flustered schoolgirl caught in an embarrassing moment.

She technically bore no guilt on this matter, but wasn’t Lila a little too observant lately?

Then, she heard a sigh right afterwards.

No matter. Just come back safely, alright?

[ Envy felt suspicious of you ’cheating’ right after their date, but the wall kiss and confession remained fresh on her mind! ]

[ Envy favourability: 91 -> 90 ]

The Witch of Lust’s eyes flickered with amusement and a slight guilt. Instead of fuming, her adorable Lila was still caught in the sentiment, back on the date.

She cut off the <telepath> link and licked her lips, imagining how much she would pamper her Lila after returning.

During this moment, a voice called out from behind her, steady with a hint of curiosity. "Were you calling someone just now?"

Mel’s brows twitched before turning around to face Calina’s calm stare. This is new. Perhaps the first time she has witnessed someone noticing her <Telepathy>. The System’s advice to be careful around Calina had its merit.

She nodded, as if she were an honest, normal citizen with nothing to hide. "Just Lila, a girl who I know since childhood and will accompany me to the academy. How did you know?"

The Swordmaster tilted her head, her blue eyes piercing through her doubt. "I have a good eyesight. Your lover?"

The Witch of Lust’s eyes curved. "Yep. My first lover, forever and ever."

Calina held her chin, contemplating. This World’s standard accepted the concept of ’harem’ and ’girl love’, all thanks to the Saintess’s major policy overhaul by force, right after the defeat of Pride.

Mel and Lila should be among the beneficiaries. She wished for all the blessings upon them, even if the Knight herself struggled to grasp something as simple as love."

The Swordsmaster swept off the bitter feeling in her chest, before bowing her head a little. "Hope you two find happiness."

The Witch of Lust widened her eyes before chuckling. Typical protagonist. She always wishes others well and better, although she didn’t quite understand.

Her smile beamed. "Of course. We needn’t your blessing because our happiness was ensured! Though..."

She pressed a finger to her cheek. "I dislike that you grant a blessing upon us without smiling sincerely. Maybe try a little harder?"

A vein popped out of Calina’s forehead. Is this woman for real?

The Swordsmaster sighed and glanced away. "Never mind then. If you call it unnecessary, so be it."

Calina glanced up at the graceful moonlight, and a serenity came to her mind. It is not like her to wish well upon others, especially a stranger she met.

Yet, despite failing its purpose for one moment, Mel’s hand on hers was strangely fitting, comforting even.

Weird. She has not known much kindess in life, but despite feeling lost, she felt small and oddly safe being gently guided by Mel.

Mel’s lips curled to a foxy smile, her observant gaze scanning Calina’s dazed expression.

And upon arriving at a restaurant with a dangling sign that read ’Chicky Spice’, their steps stopped together like a harmony ceased between themselves.

The Witch muttered. "Here it is!"

The Witchhunter looked up, then back at Mel. "Thank you for guiding me here. Then..."

With a slight regret, she let go of Mel’s grasp before walking to the restaurant’s door.

Before she slid it open, however, the mischievous voice broke the night’s silence once again.

"Enjoy the night? With me?"

Calina glanced over her shoulder, frowning. She was always straightforward, not lacking an answer but only bearing very few that could be counted on one finger.

This time, however, she merely uttered. "Sure."

How unmannered of me, she scolded herself. Calina stepped into the restaurant and closed the door behind her, unaware of Mel watching her back until she vanished from view.

Mel’s hands gripped each other at her back, her eyes flickering to another alleyway.

A presence loomed, one laced with the scent of <Ash>.

She stayed a little longer. Waited. She even dared to anticipate. But the lingering scent faded away, much to her disappointment.

She sighed, mumbling. "System. Calina’s sword...why is it...you know?"

[ Oh. Please do not worry about that for now, Host! ]

Mel squinted her eyes. "Is it related to how Wrath awakened again?"

[ Something like that. It is an ornamental sword designed against Witches after all! ]

The Witch of Lust chortled at the vague response. It would seem delving into it would lead to the Saintess revealing more than she wanted to.

Mel didn’t like being hidden from the truth. But she disliked it more when she forced the truth out when the others were uncomfortable.

She stretched her arms. "Well. I’m confident I can figure something out if I ask Wrath directly. More importantly, favourability?"

[ Seducing Calina now, aren’t we? ]

Mel smirked. "We do need 4 Witches. Namely, Sloth, Lust, Envy, and Greed for the [ Draconic Invasion ]. But equally, we had no other support outside or inside the < Reality Marble >, correct?"

The Witch couldn’t imagine asking the Royalties, Church, Armies, or the Adventurers for help. Therefore...

She held up a finger. "One more. We still need one more to guard Sloth herself when the < Reality Marble > came. < Sloth > also bared the weakest combat prowess among the Witches."

Mel then walked off the street. "So, what a perfect stage for the protagonist to grow!"

A Witch growing a Witchhunter. Mel mocked herself a little. Yet in her mind, a stage for a confident <Ash> scented Wrath and Calina was already set up.

She looked forward to how these two confronted each other, and the absolute truth behind Wrath herself.

[ Understood! I do not favor this idea, but I’ll respect your opinion, Mel! ]

Mel held back a chuckle. "Jealous that I’m getting more women?"

[ Nope. At least I know you’ll only blush like a maiden before me. That alone is enough! ]

Mel’s golden eyes shivered at the panel, her hand instinctively covering her tummy. "Su-sure... you’ll have to work harder than that if you want more than just my blushes!"

[ Hehe. Of course. Numeralising Calina’s favourability! ]

[ Calina favourability: 2 ]

"Thanks. Ah, and also..." Her voice drifted. "Set up a task list for me as well."

[ Yep yep. Don’t feel overwhelmed, though! ]

[ Task List – Preparation for the { Draconic Invasion } ]

1. Awaken Lila to her <Witch Form>

2. Seduce and awaken Rosana to her <Witch Form>

3. Request Sloth for the construction of <Reality Marble>

4. Request Calina for help with guarding Sloth

It was a tall order, and Mel’s smile strained under its weight. She almost hoped to cry and return to sleep on the Saintess’s thighs.

"Unfortunately..." She puffed out her chest against the System’s panel, as if flaunting. "I’ve a much cuter, obedient, and kissable Lila at home! Don’t be jealous now, dear Saintess!"

[ Mhm. Of course not, little Mel! Feel free to visit again so I can violate you more. ]

Mel shuddered a little, her eyes drooping with a hint of desire. "Of-of course."

Lila’s submission, or Maria’s dominant love... as always, Mel couldn’t decide which she favoured more.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she walked down the street, anticipating tasting a huggable housewife for her return.
