Chapter 26: Liam’s soul corruption

All that happened was a one sided beat down, as Mammon easily overpowered his fellow demon lords, showing off his superior strength.

He trashed them, both with his words and his actions, proclaiming about how all that existed in the universe was his to claim, and no one could stop him from claiming them.

But then, while he was busy boasting about how much power he was sure to gain after absorbing all their sins, a thin crack suddenly appeared on the orb.

The number of sins within it were too much for it to contain, and before the greedy demon lord could do anything, one particular sin managed to slip out of the orb.

[That sin that managed to break out... was the sin of lust.]

[From that point, I don’t really know what happened. All I could remember was Lord Asmodeus grabbing unto his sin, and then... he placed it inside me.]

The last thing she had seen was Mammon’s hand stabbing through Asmodeus’ chest, ripping out his demon core.

However, before then, the demon lord already helped her escape, sending the succubus into a portal that took her somewhere far away from Mammon’s reach.

Liam was still reeling from the shock of all he just heard.

All the things he thought he knew about this world turned out to be nothing but lies and half truths; it was still a bit crazy to accept.

The demon king was never meant to exist, and even the one ruling the demons in this world was nothing but a fake.

If he told just these two things to any other person, they would surely think he was crazy.

He would probably be arrested even, and sentenced to death by stoning or hanging for blaspheming against the goddess of light.

Since Arthur Silvagold was a knight chosen by the goddess, claiming the history in which he fought against the demon king was a bit wrong was blasphemy to the church, and was punishable by death.

Lilith replied, though she already had an idea about what it was.

Though he didn’t know where the seven deadly sins came from, or how they came to be, he was sure for a soul to be worthy of carrying any of them, it had to be tainted to a degree.

’What about his wives? How do they connect to everything?’ Liam asked, sighing as he collapsed on his bed. ’And how come I’m the one who has to defeat him?’

[Well, at the end of the day, the greedy demon king couldn’t contain all six sins within his body.]

As for the women, he promoted them, making them serve as the new demon lords of sin, just beneath him.

He couldn’t just let them go, not after granting them a portion of his powers, so he placed powerful seals on their souls, making sure they could only do his bidding.

’So the seven wives... are more like slaves?’ Liam thought, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

He couldn’t understand how someone could be so greedy and selfish.

After all, what was the point of Mammon even betraying his fellow demon lords, stealing their sins?

It all just seemed so unnecessary to Liam...

Apart from that, forcing others to do his bidding, turning them into slaves under the guise of giving them power.

Lilith was actually right in calling him a greedy and evil bastard.
