[He only did that out of pride... she’s just a figurehead; a demon lord with no power of sin.]

Lilith explained, her tone laced with hate and anger.

Since Mammon couldn’t let the world know that he failed to acquire the sin of lust, he simply chose a demon lord to act as a figurehead.

That way, it would seem like he had all seven sins—including the sin of lust under his control, when in reality, he didn’t.

[But then, that’s not all.]

Lilith said, causing Liam’s brow to raise in surprise.

[After Mammon became the demon king, he was furious at his loss. He searched for me for many years... but no matter what he did, he couldn’t find me.]

[In his rage, he passed an order... for all demons under the old sin tribe to be hunted and killed. Incubi... succubi... they were all ruthlessly... hunted for... and killed like dogs...]

She said, her voice breaking as she continued.

Liam’s eyes slowly widened in shock, finally realising why the system said the incubi race was extinct, and he was pretty much the last one alive.

’All of them... were driven to extinction by the demon king?’ He thought, narrowing his eyes.

From the way Lilith voice cracked when speaking about it, it was clear that she blamed herself for the loss of her fellow tribesmen.

After all, the demon king had ordered their deaths in frustration about her getting away from him.

’You know... none of what happened is your fault.’ Liam mumbled inwardly, letting out a low sigh.

He could understand why she would burden herself with such guilt, but at the end of the day, none of it were her fault.

It was all the fault of the demon king, who was greedy enough to want all seven deadly sins for himself in the first place.

He was also the one who ordered the hunt for the remaining succubi and incubi, not Lilith.

Besides, if not for Lilith, Mammon would have gained even more power than he had now, and his plan for universal domination would have gone a lot further than it had now.

He also wouldn’t be standing here, as he was the one the sin of lust eventually chose to be its ’avatar.’

If none of what happened had happened, he would still be a weak, helpless orb, floating aimlessly in the void between life and death.

[You... don’t need to lie so I’d feel better. You can say it’s not... my fault, but then... whose else’s fault is it?]

Lilith’s mumbled, her voice breaking towards the end.

Even though he couldn’t see her physically, Liam could still sense the pain within her voice, despite how hard she tried to mask it.

’Not yours for sure. Mammon is to blame for everything, there’s no need to burden yourself with all that guilt.’

’But what?’ Lilith was about to speak, but Liam interjected, already knowing what she wanted to say.

"The power of lust’s still alive isn’t it? Alive within me." He muttered, his lips curling into a slight smirk.

"You weren’t the one who caused the extinction of your sin tribe... you are the one who saved it." He continued, letting out a low sigh.

’If you had surrendered yourself to the demon king, then it would have truly been over.’ He thought.

[T-the one who saved it...]

[I didn’t realise my little incubus was so sweet~ Fufu~]

She suddenly teased, letting out a soft, teasing chuckle, her melodious voice ringing out in Liam’s head.

"Hehe." Liam smirked. "There’s nothing little about this incubus..."

[Y-you...]

Lilith stuttered, a little taken aback by his words.

She had expected him to get all flustered by what she said, but instead of getting flustered, he even turned the situation on her.

’What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue?’ Liam continued, taking over the teasing from her. ’Or is my cute little succubus just inexperienced... dealing with ’little matters’ like this?’

[Me...? I-inexperienced... you have no idea.]

Lilith tried to bluff, but she was short of words, and her words stuttered one more.

Liam simply chuckled, letting out a low exhale.

’Really?’ Liam thought, the teasing smirk on his face growing wider.

He wished Lilith was right here with him, so he could see what kind of face she was making.

Besides, he could never forget the devilishly beautiful face of Lilith, as well as her perfect, sexy body which seemed like it was made to evoke the sexual desires of both men and women.

Even after transmigrating, he hadn’t met anyone who came close to Lilith in terms of beauty or sexiness.

’A new quest...’ Liam thought, his eyes scanning through the tabs floating in front of him.

However, when he saw the rewards, he couldn’t help but gasp in surprise.

’The... seven deadly sins...?! And...?’ He thought, his eyes narrowing at the second reward.

Though he didn’t really know the power of the other six sins, he was sure that for Mammon to desire them that much, they had to be extremely unique and powerful also.

Basically, if he was able to successfully complete the quest, he would be getting the demon king’s power... he would become the new demon king.

But then, he didn’t understand what that second reward was supposed to mean.

’Why... is it in question marks??’ He thought, the frown on his face deepening in confusion.
