Chapter 47: awkward breakfast

"The conversation with my mother went well enough" Alexander replied as his hand cupped Damon’s cheek.

"She is not going to throw me out of the house then?" Damon asked playfully, naturally leaning into his touch.

"No, she’s not." Alexander chuckled as he caressed his cheek.

His laughter died out shortly afterwards as his facial expression become serious.

"I love you, Damon." He whispered as he leaned in and placed a lingering kiss on his forehead.

Damon shivered slightly at the small yet meaningful action that warmed up his heart.

"I love you too, Alexander." Damon replied as he tightened his arms around him in hug.

"We should get some sleep." Alexander said, his voice a coming out as a soft yawn.

"Okay." Damon agreed and together, they cuddled and difted off to sleep.

The next morning, the breakfast table was more silent than usual and Damon couldn’t help feeling like it was all his fault.

He had probably created a rift between Alexander and his mother.

Alexander had told him otherwise but he just couldn’t help worrying.

Luckily, Aya dragged him outdoors after breakfast so that they could begin her archery lessons.

It was engaging and kept him distracted from his thoughts and he rather liked Aya.

She was a determined and energetic learner and within an hour of practice, she could shoot the center of the target at a relatively close distance.

"You are a natural."Damon praised as he watched her arrow fly and hit the target.

Aya’s small face lit up with a smile that strangely reminded Damon of his sisters.

Even though they were mischievous meddlers, he loved and missed them.

"Well, thank you .Though I must say, my success is partly because I have such an excellent teacher." Aya made a half bow that made Damon smile.

She was adorable.

"Can I talk to him for a while." Alexander asked as he approached them.

"Sure." Aya agreed and walked back into the house, leaving her brother and Damon alone in the backyard.

"It’s only been an hour since I saw you but...I already miss you." Alexander drawled, a dazzling half grin adorning his lips as he reached out for Damon’s hand.

Damon’s ears flashed as he looked at their entwined fingers.

"I missed you too." He whispered as his eyes met Alexander’s in an electric gaze.

Alexander’s smile widened as he wrapped an arm around Damon’s waist and tugged him closer to his body.

"Alexander... someone might walk in on us!" Damon’s voice was a hushed shriek as his palms came to rest on Alexander’s broad chest.

He tried to put some distance between them but Alexander didn’t want to let him go.

"I wouldn’t care if the entire village was to walk in on us. All I want is to be with you. I want to be able to hold your hand whenever I want regardless of who is watching. I want to be able to kiss you like this..." Alexander’s words trailed off into a soft whisper as he leaned in and placed a soft and sensual kiss at the corner of Damon’s lips.

Damon shuddered and he knew he was gone, lost to his need for the man before him.

Alexander then kissed his jaw and neck, earning a soft moan from Damon who didn’t need anymore convincing because he wanted the very same things.

Damon could feel the familiar hot and tingly desire rising within him as Alexander continued his slow and sweet torturous kisses along his neck.

"Kiss me." Damon moaned, his voice a hoarse plea as his fingers found the back of Alexander’s head and sank into his lush black hair.

Their lips met in a passionate kiss that left both of them breathless by the time they pulled away.

"Damon, I came to tell you something." Alexander said, inwardly resisting the urge to just continue kissing the man before him.

"I am listening."Damon replied, judging from Alexander’s serious facial expression that what he wanted to say was something important.

"I want to go to the village and see whether I can speak to any witches or wizards. They could help me find out whether I can do magic or not. We could also learn more about the curse. Could you like to come with me?" Alexander concluded with a request.

"Yes, l’d love to." Damon agreed and they left for town after Damon had finished another half hour of training with Aya.

...

Alexander’s taller and broader body frame shielded Damon as they walked into a suspicious looking hut on the outskirts of the village.

They had spent about fifteen minutes asking around for any magic weilders and they had only received directions to two locations.

This hut was the closest of the two and it belonged to a notorious witch.

The air inside the hut was stuffy and grew thicker, gaining a smoke like appearance the deeper they went.

They walked for few minutes until the narrow corridor opened into a sizeable room that was overly stuffed with weird looking herbs and black cooking pots.

Damon was honestly surprised with how they were still breathing.

In a corner, there was a pot of googy green contents boiling over a make shift stove and beside it stood an old woman.

The cover of the smoke made it difficult to see what she really looked like and Alexander was strangely glad.

He already had a bad feeling about the place and seeing the face of a wrinkly witch wasn’t going to make him feel any better.

"I have been expecting you." The shrill, high pitched voice of the witch filled the room, making Damon frown.

"What do you mean?" He asked, unease settling at the back of his throat.

"I am a witch." She replied with a small shrug.

Her reply didn’t really answer the question but Damon didn’t have the patience to inquire more.

"We are here because we seek answers and solutions to my situation. Will you help us?" Damon got straight to business as he stood beside Alexander.

"I know what you seek. Have a seat, both of you." The witch suggested as she pointed at a couple of cushions that were laid on the floor.

Alexander didn’t appreciate her cryptic words but he silently sat down beside Damon.

"All those that seek knowledge or anything for that matter, must pay a price." The witch informed them and Alexander inhaled deeply as his fingers reached out to hold Damon’s hand.

"What do you want?" He asked in a stern voice that sent the witch chuckling in strange sounds.
