Chapter 29: a little rough

Chapter 29: a little rough

Eamon nearly choked on his food as the words sank in.

His cheeks were a bright red as he looked at Valerion who looked utterly unapologetic for his bold declaration.

Eamon was utterly speechless as his subconscious mind imagined having Valerion hands roaming his entire body.

He was suddenly thirsty and hot and without another glance at the dragon, Eamon walked over to the waterfall to drink some water.

The cool fresh liquid was refreshing and Eamon allowed himself to get soaked under the waterfall, the slightly cold water cooling his burning cheeks.

Valerion watched him with an intent gaze, his hunger and desire for this man threatening to unerve him and render him a primitive beast.

The low rumble within his throat was deep and raw as his dragon fought for control over his human side.

"MINE." The beast growled and Valerion was alarmed to see the thick black and silver scales that had started to cover his fore arms.

No...he had to keep his emotions in control to prevent himself from pouncing onto Eamon.

But as fate could have it, the beast within him overshadowed all reason and logic. Valerion found himself taking slow predatory steps towards his unsuspecting mate whose eyes were closed with his head thrown back.

Eamon was wet and the view was very enticing and irrestable.

Valerion had his arms around his waist and that snapped Eamon from his daze, those coffee brown eyes surprised and shocked at the sudden closeness.

What worried Eamon was the alternating change of Valerion’s pupils from their usual silver color to black.

Valerion groaned, gritting his teeth hard as he tried to hold onto his last shreds of humanity but to no avail.

A deep gruttal groan escaped his lips as his fingers fisted Eamon’s hair, his eyes fixed on his neck.

"Valerion...?" Eamon called out, his voice worried as he noticed his pupils that were now entirely black.

It was strange.

Eamon’s body was tightly pressed against his and a shiver coursed through his veins when a pair of soft lips landed on his neck.

The kiss was surprisingly soft and lingering in a way that made Eamon’s body burn as he placed his hands on Valerion’s that were now rough with... scales.

He tried to wriggle his way out of the dragon’s arms before he entirely lost all his senses and gave in to the desire that was starting to consume him.

Valerion’s grip was firm and Eamon’s body shuddered when there was a lick on the spot between his neck and shoulder.

"Valerion...?" He called again, fighting for the swaying control over his body as that familiar musky sent hit his nostrils.

Eamon’s body suddenly tensed when he felt something sharp and pointy graze his neck.

They were fangs!?

He was about to be bitten and... marked.

No...he didn’t want this, not yet because the mate mark could officially bond him to Valerion in ways that were beyond his imagination.

"Valerion... let me go." He whispered, his voice coming out shaky.

He struggled harder to get free but Valerion couldn’t budge.

Eamon was now subtly scared.

"Mine!" Valerion growled as he prepared himself to bite and mark his mate but somewhere in between his haze, the hint of fear in Eamon’s scent made him still, instantly bringing him back to his senses.

Valerion’s heart raced from anxiety, his pupils returning to silver as he looked at Eamon whose startled and slightly wide chocolate brown eyes were looking at him wearily.

What had he done? Something told him had messed up. A lot.

He was momentarily frozen before he released Eamon from his arms.

The man backed away and the action made Valerion’s heart ache.

"Eamon...I..." He made a failed attempt at explaining his actions as he stepped closer to him.

"No, don’t come to close to me." Eamon’s voice was a stern whisper as he backed away.

Valerion felt his anger flare. He had not intended to hurt him in anyway. His dragon wasn’t something he could easily control.

"You fear me." He hissed and Eamon frowned. Surprisingly no, he did not.

"No, I fear what you could do to me." Eamon explained.

Valerion felt his heart crumble.

"You think I am a beast." Valerion stated, his voice a controlled calmness as his eyes met Eamon’s.

Eamon’s breath caught at his throat. This was important enough even though the dragon kept a straight face.

Heavens help him but Eamon didn’t think he was a beast.

"No. Just a little rough." He admitted and Valerion smiled faintly, glad that he wasn’t a beast in Eamon’s eyes. It amused him to know he could become gentle just for this man.

Eamon’s influence over him was that strong.

"I wasn’t fully myself back then when I tried to bite you." Valerion explained and Eamon’s guarded demeanour relaxed a little.

"I know." Eamon admitted.

"I am sorry if I hurt you." Valerion found himself naturally apologizing for the first time in ages.

"You didn’t. I was just startled." Eamon replied and a feeling of relief washed over Valerion.

He hadn’t messed up entirely.

"Next time you are to do something like that, let me know." Eamon advised lightly to save himself from not so pleasant surprises in the future.

Valerion smirked, his mood instantly brightening.

"Oh...I will." He assured as his eyes took in the view of Eamon who was now standing out of the water, his entire body soaked.

Eamon’s cheeks flashed.

"Not now." He said sternly and Valerion feigned a disappointed look.

"But you have no idea what your current appearance is doing to me. You are wet and your clothes are clinging onto your body in all the right places." Valerion boldly admitted as his eyes roamed his entire body.

Eamon was rendered speechless, his mouth opening and closing with no words coming out.

His cheeks felt hot.

"You... are shameless." Eamon accused and Valerion chuckled, the sound a low and mellow laughter that was oddly appealing to Eamon’s ears.

He blinked as he watched the dragon step out of the water.

"That’s who I am Eamon. Do you not like it?" He asked teasingly and Eamon chose his next words very carefully.

Saying yes could ensure more teasing from the dragon and if he said no, he could be lying.

As crazy as it seemed, Eamon didn’t hate having Valerion around.

"I don’t mind it." He shrugged and Valerion smirked.

"Let’s get going." Valerion said, amused at how things were between him and Eamon.

"I want you to ride me." Valerion added and Eamon’s face burned, his mind picturing some really intimate scenes.

This dragon was crazy if he thought he was going to agree to that!!!

Valerion smirked knowingly.

"What are you thinking? I am only giving you an invite to ride on my dragon’s back." Valerion explained innocently and Eamon glared at him, totally flustered.

"Though I don’t mind if you wanted us to..." He was quick to add, his voice deep and his eyes seductive.

"Ahhh..." He groaned from the sharp pain that suddenly stabbed his leg.

Eamon had kicked him.

"Anymore teasing and I won’t hesitate to kick you again." Eamon assured, and Valerion smiled, totally amused.

This human mate of his was cute and refreshing.

Any other person that dared to kick him could have lost his leg.

"Yes sir." Valerion grinned and Eamon blinked, not expecting him to agree.

He watched on with growing fascination as he shifted in an enormous black dragon whose neck and head were covered with a few silver scales.

His eyes were still the same striking grey and Eamon held his breath.

Valerion was the largest dragon he had laid eyes on and he was... beautiful.

The majestic stance he occupied was quite the sight and Eamon was humbled when the dragon lowered his head, bringing it closer to him.

Eamon hesitantly placed his palm on his head and the dragon purred in approval as he closed his eyes.

He was surprisingly calm and after a few caresses, Valerion helped him onto his back and Eamon held onto him tightly once he leaped into the air.

His fear of falling off reduced with time as Eamon let himself take in the mesmerizing view of the early morning clouds.

It was simply magical and after flying for quite a while, Eamon felt him descend.

They landed on top of a green and lash hill and Eamon couldn’t fully fathom how quick Valerion shifted back to his human form.

Valerion’s eyes were pinned on him for a while.

"Your dragon is beautiful." Eamon said something to fill up the silence.

Valerion was suddenly jealous of his beast.

"Am I beautiful in this form too?" He asked, greedily waiting for Eamon to tell him yes.

"You are fine." Eamon replied and Valerion frowned.

"Fine not beautiful?" He asked and Eamon was dumbstruck. It wasn’t that much of a deal. The words both meant the same thing but clearly, not to Valerion.

"They mean the same thing." Eamon finally spoke and Valerion still didn’t look so amused.

So that beast got beautiful and he got just fine!

It was not fair.
