Crashing into an Old Flame
Chapter 90: Mr. Kidnapper

Chapter 90: Mr. Kidnapper

As a result, the whole day passed without them coming face to face even once.

But now, Diana was stunned.

She thought he had already left.

But there he was, sitting on the black leather couch with a book in his hand, wearing a plain white shirt paired with grey trousers. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, giving her a glimpse of the Philips Patek watch as her eyes trailed to his forearms, arms, shoulder, neck, face, eyes...

He raised a brow at her.

’Puchi’ Diana internally spat a mouthful of blood as an arrow shot through her chest. How pretty!

’’I was just here to give you the schedule for tomorrow. Why... Why haven’t you left yet?" She blinked, sneakily putting the photo frame back on the table as she changed the topic.

And God bless the man because he did not glare at her for intruding on his privacy, ’’I had some work left,’’ he answered, shifting his attention to the book in his hand as he flipped a page.

He did not seem to have any intention to continue the conversation.

Diana sighed in relief even as some strange sense of disappointment bloomed in her chest. That feeling came and disappeared so fast that she could not put a finger on it.

’’I see. Take care. I will leave now,’’ Without waiting for his reply, she fled from the place like she was being chased by the devil.

And she did not know what crappy luck she had because once again, she bumped into a familiar face near the elevators.

Both almost bumped into each other but Diana had faster reflexes hence she backed off just in time.

’’You... Are you Maxim’s assistant?" The woman looked at her in displeasure.

Uhh... ’’Yes,’’ Diana responded.

The woman scanned her from head to toe before she let out a disgusted sigh, ’’Terribly fashion sense. So ugly,’’ With an elegant wave of her hand, she strutted away.

Diana: "_"

Even as she stepped into the elevator and glanced at her reflection in the mirrored walls, she could not get over the shock.

She was wearing a beige high-collared top that she had paired with a brown pencil skirt. And she had a black coat to go with it.

Her clothes were indeed not branded ones but they were nowhere ugly.

And this was the first time in the 25 years of her life that someone had called her fashion sense terrible. In the socialite circle, the daughters of her mother’s friends usually copied her style which made her mother proud as a peacock.

But instead of feeling offended, Diana was amused instead. This job was truly giving her novel experiences in life.

’Mom would have strangled her if she heard that,’ the unconscious thought crossed her mind and Diana stiffened as unwanted memories invaded soon after.

By the time Diana walked out of the hospital, her initially sunny mood was long replaced by grey clouds.

She stiffly took out her phone to book a cab.

’Honk’

She avoided the sound and opened the app.

’Honk Honk’

Diana was stunned. This... scene seemed oddly familiar.

As she tilted her head doubtfully, she was greeted by Maxim’s calm face as he stepped out of his car and opened the door for her.

"Didn’t you say you had work?" she asked.

She was not in the mood to bicker anymore so she obediently walked towards him and entered the car.

’’I just finished it,’’ he replied and looked at her without closing the door.

’’Oh.’’

He still did not close the door and kept looking at her.

Diana tilted her head as she glanced at him in confusion.

Was there something on her face? She raised her hand to touch her cheeks but she froze when he suddenly lowered his body and leaned closer to her.

The scent of an unfamiliar cologne invaded her senses and her brain cells shrunk instantly. Her eyes widened, ’’Maxim,’’ she breathed.

’Click’

The sound of the seatbelts being buckled was heard right at the moment when she uttered his name.

Maxim was stunned.

Did she just.... call his name? Not surname, but name?

He turned to look at her.

Diana on the other hand realized what he was doing earlier. She glanced at the seatbelt and then thought back to her pornstar-possessed voice from earlier and her expression turned weird.

Maxim frowned when he saw the look on her face, ’’Are you sick? Is something troubling you?" Why did she look so stressed? Was it the workload or was she being bullied?

His face hardened.

Diana composed herself and shook her head, ’’No... I was just absent minded hehehe...’’ she waved her hand.

Maxim did not ask her anything further but her pretentious laugh did not put his worried heart at ease.

He closed the car door before getting inside the driver’s seat.

On the way, Diana was awfully quiet and Maxim thought back to how she would blabber about random topics when she came here.

But now, she was like this most of the time.

He knew this job will do no good for her.

But in the end, he respected her choices.

So, here they were.

He sighed.

Halfway through, Diana noticed something, ’’Where are you taking me?" It was not the way back to the mansion.

’’Kidnapping you,’’ Maxim replied with a poker face.

Diana’s lips twitched, ’’Really?"

Looking at her glowing eyes, Maxim felt speechless, ’’Do you feel excited?"

’’Very excited, Mr. Kidnapper,’’ Diana laughed when she saw the irked expressions on his face.

She reached out towards him and poked his face with her index finger, ’’How cute.’’

Maxim swatted away her indecent finger.

And Diana did not think much of it as she looked out the glass panes again, missing the redness at the tips of his ears in the process.

Maxim’s super mysterious attitude easily caused a shift in her mood and from time to time, she pestered him to tell her where they were going.
