After the man hung up, the scared expression on Diana’s face was replaced by indifference as she threw her phone aside.

She fell back on the bed. With her father’s assurance, she could now be certain that Maxim was finally free of trouble.

The next morning, by the time Diana went down to the parking lot, she saw an unfamiliar man standing with her bodyguard.

’’Your new bodyguard and driver,’’ the man said calmly.

Diana’s lips parted. She ignored the unfamiliar man and walked to the side.

Diana pursed her lips.

’’This is not that much of a severe punishment, Young Miss. Although he fired me, I am free to sign up for other jobs,’’ Robin sounded a bit relieved at that, ’’My last task was to deal with those goons.’’

Diana suppressed the hint of sadness bubbling in her chest as she asked him, ’’Those loan sharks?"

Diana smiled softly, ’’Thanks,’’ she paused for a moment before asking, ’’Is there no way for you to stay and continue this job?"

’’Master doesn’t take his order back,’’ Robin bowed and stepped back, ’’I wish the best for you.’’

’’Me too,’’ Diana mumbled as she glanced at his retreating back. She knew her father did not take his orders back.

The moment she involved Robin in this matter, she knew that she was putting his job at risk. He might get fired. She knew how high the probability was.

But at the end of the day, she still went ahead with her plan because everyone has a hierarchy for people’s positions in their hearts.

In her heart, Maxim outweighed many people, not just robin. So, if it is him on the stake along with hundred others, she would choose him with closed eyes.

When Diana went to the university, she did not see Maxim the whole day.

Diana could read the look on the woman’s face. She still believed that Diana was talking to her like this because she suggested that her and Maxim were dating.

Diana glanced at her watch. It totally slipped off her mind that she was going back to Beijing tonight.

She glanced at the flowers and fruits in her hand.

’’Happy Birthday, Mom,’’ Diana extended her hands towards the woman.

Madam Chen glanced at the gift in Diana’s hand as tears welled up in her eyes, ’’I am happy that you are here,’’ she held Diana’s hand.

Diana flinched instinctively when the woman lowered her head and kissed her forehead.

Madam Chen took the gift from her hand and placed it on the bedside table as she continued putting on her jewelry for the party tonight.

Diana’s gaze wandered off to the photo album splayed on the table.

Noticing her curious gaze, Madam Chen sighed gently, ’’I was just flipping through them today because I missed Daisy.’’

Diana sat on the bed and hesitantly picked up the picture album where there was a family picture on the top.

Her father was holding her and her mother was holding Daisy as they posed. Daisy looked more like their Asian father with dark hair and identical green eyes. On the other hand, she had green eyes too but her mother’s blonde hair gave her more of an American touch.

As she watched her mother getting ready, she could see through the sadness in her eyes.
