Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 52: Friends? Yeah sure.
Chapter 52: Friends? Yeah sure.
’’Um... Apologies but which masterpiece you are talking about?" Daisy whispered inside the shell of her ear, ’’The food. Or the person making the food?"
Diana gasped.
’’What’s wrong?" Maxim glanced at both of them.
Diana pushed Daisy away, ’’She is not my sister,’’ she glared.
’’I’ve always had doubts,’’ Maxim tilted his head to the side as he glanced at Daisy inquiringly.
’’Maybe adoption case,’’ Diana mumbled.
’’Or lost child case,’’ Maxim shook his head pitifully.
Daisy: "_" Okay, I know you both are on the same page.
’’Or taken from garbage?" Diana wondered.
’’Probably—’’
Daisy glared at them.
Maxim and Diana looked at each other before shrugging quietly.
Maxim left 2 hours later.
Diana placed her chocolate pudding on the table before she walked into her closet and brought out a change of clothes for the night.
Her dress was ruined by the egg earlier and she had yet to change her clothes.
’’This tastes so good. Just as good as you two looked together," Daisy raised a brow as she rolled around on the bed.
Diana grabbed her night suit and walked towards the bed, barely restraining herself from shoving it on her sister’s face, ’’You know you are embarrassing me when you say such things. Just because it’s him, I don’t react as much but I would have never looked at any other guy twice if my sister kept coupling us in front of him.’’
Daisy sat up on the bed, ’’That serious?"
Diana nodded, ’’How would you feel if I pair you up with your guy friends right in front of them?"
’’I won’t care. Why would I react to something that does not exist?" Daisy shrugged, ’’But your reaction is making me rethink your stand in your relationship.’’
Diana sighed, ’’We basically grew up together. He has been around me for as long as I can remember. Maybe since we were teenagers. Why is it so hard for you to believe that we are friends?"
Diana could understand why their university friends believed that they were a couple. It was mostly because Maxim and her clung to each other all the time, which she believed he did to avoid extra attention from girls.
And the people in the university did not know the nature of their relationship.
But Daisy did.
Yet, look at her.
’’Friends with benefits?" Daisy shoved the chocolate pudding inside her mouth before Diana could hit her with it.
’’Daisy!" Diana gaped in disbelief as she looked around.
The paintings on the walls made her embarrassed too as she felt like they heard what her sister said.
Once Daisy gulped the food, she shrugged, ’’You can’t blame me," she stood up from the bed, ’’What’s the current world population?"
For a moment, Diana forgot about the blasphemy her sister committed as she answered seriously, ’’Almost 8 billion. Why?’’
Daisy nodded, ’’So, 8 billion people in the world yet he looks at you like you are the only woman existing on mother Earth. He looks at other women like they are fruits and vegetables and he looks at me like I am a cactus. I wonder if you noticed it too."
Diana rolled her eyes, ’’He is just like that in general. When I first met him, he did not even talk to anyone. I am privileged to announce that I am his first friend and maybe only friend till now.’’
Daisy chuckled, ’’You don’t like using pen and paper that much. But you are writing the notes twice under the guise of practice since he can’t attend the classes because of his job,’’ she mocked.
Diana’s jaw dropped. How did her sister know that?
’’He changed your lockers so that all the love letters you get can go to his locker before ending up in the trash,’’ Daisy quirked a brow, ’’You hate relying on people, even on me but you run to him, or into his arms, if I must add, the moment you feel vulnerable.’’
As Diana blinked, Daisy added, ’’Friends? Yeah, sure.’’
’’Umm...’’ Diana licked her bottom lips, ’’How did you know about notes and lockers?"
’’I came here yesterday. Went to your class but you were busy rewriting notes. And people have huge mouths. Didn’t take a lot...’’ she pointed at her head, ’’..to join the dots.’’
Diana slumped her head on Daisy’s shoulder, ’’That’s what friends do. They stay with each other. I don’t even know how to convince you if you don’t trust my words.’’
Hearing her solemn tone, Daisy sighed, ’’I do trust you. I really do but you are not like me. I say it on the face and you...’’ she looked at her younger sister, ’’I never know what is going on in your head. More often than not, I feel like you are convincing yourself that nothing is going on between you two.’’
’’You are exaggerating it and that’s crap,’’ Diana stood up from the bed and removed her dress.
Daisy gasped.
’’Calm down."
’’When?" Daisy’s eyes widened when she saw the purplish marks spiraling around her shoulders.
’’The last time I visited. Before you came there. She said my outfit and shoes did not match and I looked shabby and I said that it looked fine to me.’’
Daisy pushed herself to her feet and held Diana’s shoulder gently.
Diana glanced at her sister. They were closer than twins despite living in different countries most of the time. But their personalities and appearances were polar opposites.
Unlike the blonde hair that she got from their mother, Daisy had their father’s dark hair. Both of them had their father’s green eyes.
But Daisy was the stronger one. While she failed miserably in the self-defense classes, Daisy didn’t. She could flip 10 men twice her size despite her delicate stature and Diana was not even exaggerating it.
’’You didn’t tell me about it,’’ Daisy narrowed her eyes.
’’You have been busy. You didn’t stay in the mansion for dinner that night,’’ Diana shrugged.
