Chapter 312: Beautiful ’couple’

Diana pushed herself to her feet as the chair screeched back, her head spinning slightly, probably due to her mother’s loud voice.

The noise of the screeching chair interrupted Alice.

’’What? You are going to glare at me now for this bastard? What has he done to you? Have you been bewitched by him? How could you be with someone like him...’’

Diana raised her hand, cutting the woman, ’’If you want to talk, then we will talk. You point your finger at him and I will leave right this instant.’’

’’He...’’

’’Mom,’’ Diana cut her off, ’’He is my bottom line. You get it, right?"

Silence descended in the air.

Alice was stunned.

And so was Maxim as he raised his head to look at her.

’’You come back with me,’’ Alice composed herself and reached out to grab Diana’s hand but before she could grasp it, Maxim stood up and wrapped an arm around Diana’s waist, pulling her behind him.

’’It seems the ideal breakfast is not happening,’’ Helian Chen sighed, leaning back into chair.

’’What do you think you are doing?" Alice narrowed her eyes at Maxim.

’’I would suggest you keep your hands off my future wife.’’

’’I will never allow her to marry someone like you. She is my daughter!" Alice snapped.

’’Not your property,’’ Maxim stated nonchalantly, ’’Mrs. Chen, I respect women. But if you hurt my woman in the slightest, I would not hesitate to do things that I am not supposed to.’’

Alice frowned but before she could say a word, Helian Chen pushed himself to his feet, ’’Boy, are you threatening my wife?"

"I am defending mine.’’

Alice took out her phone before shooting a text to someone. In the next moment, the whole restaurant went into chaos as countless men rushed inside and surrounded Maxim and Diana.

Helian Chen narrowed his eyes as he gazed at his wife, ’’You summoned my security teams without informing me about it?"

Alice did not spare him a look, ’’I am taking Diana from here, by hook or by crook. I will do whatever it takes.’’

Diana looked at the swarm of people, her head spinning even more at the sight of the crowd of people, a sense of uneasiness crept in her heart as she inched closer to Maxim, wrapping a hand around his arm.

’’Are you fine?" Maxim looked at the woman who was leaning against his body for support.

’’I don’t know. I feel weird,’’ Diana whispered softly.

"I will take you out of here,’’ Maxim picked her up in his arms without wasting a second and proceeded to walk through the people who surrounded them.

The men wanted to stop them but with Diana being held in Maxim’s arms, they did not dare to act rashly in the fear of hurting their young miss.

At some point, the restaurant area in the hotel had completely turned empty till the lobby where a few staff members stood, gathered in small groups, intimidated by the huge entourage of the Chen Family.

’’Stop them and take Diana back to the Mansion,’’ At this point, Alice did not care about what tactics she was using or to what lengths she was going. All she wanted was to break the pair apart regardless of anything, ’’If she resists, tie her up and drag her.’’

A frown marred Maxim’s face as he glanced at Diana who seemed to be in a daze, almost on the verge of dozing off. He tightened his hold on her, ’’Ana.’’

She did not respond.

’’Ana,’’ Maxim called her again.

’’Max, I feel so tired....’’ Diana snuggled into his arms, her voice drowsy, ’’If they block our path, then you put a knife on my throat and take me out of here. They would not harm me.’’

The corner of Maxim’s lips twitched. She said she was tired but apparently, her creative head was still in the active mode.

While he was amused by her antics, his heart ached at a certain realization. Just how accustomed was Diana to such toxicity to be calmly saying such things? As if... it had always been like this only.

’’What are you waiting for? I said, drag her away from that man!"

The moment her words dropped, a man approached them but before he could reach Diana, a foot went swinging at his ribs making him stagger a few steps back.

’’You worthless people. What are you paid for? Go at them together?"

Maxim furrowed his brows, ’’Ana, hold on to me tightly,’’ his gaze shifted to the window.

Diana followed his gaze and glanced at the window before looking back into his eyes. Her eyes twinkled, ’’Max, are we eloping?"

Maxim’s lips curved up slightly, ’’If the situation asks for it.’’

Before they could continue the conversation, the sound of approaching footsteps stopped all of a sudden.

Maxim and Diana glanced in the other direction where the there was another huge team of men dressed in black that surrounded the Chen’s people, with their guns being pressed to their heads, making the men freeze in their positions.

The silence in the room was broken.

’’Mr. Chen, Mrs. Chen, apologies for my uninvited visit but I don’t really appreciate you both meddling in my son’s and future daughter-in-law’s private life,’’ As soon as the words dropped, the crowd parted and the sight of a beautiful ’couple’ entered everyone’s sight as they approached the breakfast table.

Diana’s jaw dropped and she elbowed Maxim who was standing there with an arched eyebrow.

Maxim looked down at her.

’’Put me down. Put me down,’’ she whisper-yelled.

’’You are not feeling well.’’

Diana’s face flushed, ’’I will endure it. For now, I need to carry my image,’’ the people in front of them were none other than Hazel and Qin Zehan, stepping forward with their arms locked.

’’Your image can wait,’’ Maxim reprimanded Diana softly before looking back at his mother and ’the man’ she was walking with.
