Chapter 313: My son and daughter-in-law

Hazel did not spare Maxim and Diana a single gaze.

Diana knew that Maxim was not going to put her down so she stopped struggling in his arms and observed the couple instead. The more she looked, the more she found something fishy.

The last time she had a conversation with Old Master Qin, it did not seem like he had any intentions of revealing the truth about Maxim’s parentage to him.

It has barely been a few weeks since that conversation she had with that old man and a few days since they came to Beijing, how did things change to this extent? Why was Hazel walking with Master Qin so intimately?

And not only that, Hazel was out of her usual dressing style. For some reason, she had donned a traditional black Chinese qipao. As gorgeous as she looked, Diana could not stop herself from trying to decode it.

If Diana was not seeing it wrong, the piece that Hazel was wearing was the last masterpiece of a legendary designer who passed away due to some illness. It was sold in an auction with its starting price being somewhere close to 100 million dollars.

No matter how Diana looked, Hazel looked less like the carefree beautiful lady she knew and more like the elegant Madam of the Qin family walking next to Qin Zehan.

While Helian Chen’s face did not betray an emotion, his mind was promptly joining the dots.

Son, future daughter-in-law. If those terms referred to Maxim and Diana, then there must be more to it. Since when did the Qin Family have another son?

Helian Chen’s keen gaze did not miss the striking resemblance between Maxim and Hazel.

’’Qin Zehan...’’ Helian Chen mumbled, brows taut in contemplation, ’’Mr. Qin. And this lady...?" his gaze wandered off to Hazel.

"My wife, Hazel Warner,’’ While saying the surname, Qin Zehan shot the woman a look that shouted ’You should have changed the surname’.

Hazel rolled her eyes without sparing him a glance. ’Who do you think you are? If not for my son’s and daughter-in-law’s happiness, do you think you would have been blessed enough for me to marry you?’ she thought.

’’Hazel Warner. It’s that bitch,’’ It dawned on Alice. She had looked into Maxim’s background when Diana was in high school so she was not entirely clueless, ’’How can she be married to the Master of the Qin Family? And how can you be his father unless... unless he is an illegitimate child?" she pointed her hand at Maxim, shaking her head in disbelief.

Hazel squinted her eyes as she eyed Alice from head to toe. She had always assumed that for children to be as sweet and adorable as Daisy and Diana, their parents must be even nicer. But this was truly an awakening experience for her.

’’It seems that you don’t look in the mirror a lot, Mrs. Chen because if you did, you would know who the bigger bitch is,’’ Hazel crossed her arms in front of her chest as she eyed the woman calmly while speaking, ’’It does not matter what you want or what you think, my children will date if they want to, they will marry if they want to and they can even elope if that’s their kin...’’ Hazel stopped, brow raising slightly as she cleared her throat and rephrased her words, ’’If that’s what their heart wants.’’

Alice’s face turned red as she suppressed her rage, fingers curling into fists.

Helian Chen noticed it, a small concerned look flitted across his eyes.

But Hazel did not give two shits about how her words tormented the woman. If not for Alice Chen being unreasonable, there would have been no reason for her to be cornered into marrying Qin Zehan so of course, she held a grudge against the bitch who had the audacity to call her a bitch after all the bitchy things that she had done.

Right after Qin Zehan had asked her to marry him back in her villa, she had turned him down. But he mentioned how it would be difficult for Diana and Maxim to end up together as no matter how rich Maxim was, a socialite family would always seek the social standing. They would rather pick a penniless second generation heir for their daughter over a self-made billionaire. And the thought of it had made her hesitate because others might not know but she knew the significance that Diana held in Maxim’s heart.

Still, she did not give on to Qin Zehan’s unreasonable demands. That was until he informed her about everything that had transpired in Beijing.

And that made her realize that the easiest way for Maxim and Diana to be together would Maxim having a background that his in-laws approve her.

Yet, Alice’s current attitude had taken her aback. Even after knowing about Maxim’s background, she still remained unmoved. But given the way the Chens had surrounded Maxim and Diana and how Qin Zehan’s entry solved most of the problem, Hazel knew that she had not made the wrong decision.

’’And right now, I will see which one of the people present here will stop Maxim and Diana if they want to leave,’’ Hazel added, tilting her chin slightly.

’’You... You...’’ Alice’s lips thinned.

Qin Zehan snapped his fingers and another batch of man filtered inside the restaurant without a moment’s delay.

’’They have come prepared,’’ Helian Chen held Alice’s elbow as he supported her body, ’’Don’t make a scene. Let’s go.’’

As he led Alice out of the restaurant, he paused and nodded at Qin Zehan while Alice glared daggers at Hazel.

Hazel rolled her eyes. Are all the rich people this retarded? No no, fortunately, her son was not like them.

As Helian Chen passed by Maxim and Diana, his hand grazed my Maxim’s hand and his gaze lingered on Diana’s face for a moment but he left without saying a word with one hand holding Alice’s hand.

Maxim glanced towards the pockets of his suit jacket where the corner of a tissue paper peeked out slightly.
