Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 300: My first!
Chapter 300: My first!
But before she could even reflect on her feelings, many incidents happened one after another and she did not even get a chance to think about it.
’’It’s okay,’’ Diana straightened up on the bed.
Maxim still had his head on the pillow as he observed her closely.
She cleared her throat and repeated herself, ’’It’s okay, trust me. I respect your past and I understand it if you don’t want to talk about it. Since you did not want to talk about it, I won’t ask you to. I... respect your wishes. If you don’t want to do something, then I won’t force you to do it.’’
The more understanding she was, the more it bothered him, ’’I am sorry,’’ he pushed himself up on the bed and leaned back on the headboard.
Maxim reached out to grab her hand as he glanced at her, ’’There is nothing that I can’t tell you. There is nothing that you cannot expect from me.’’
’Thump’
Diana averted her gaze.
’’I did confess to her.’’
His words made her heart pause for a moment. So, Veronica was right after all. Her sister did hold a special place in Maxim’s heart.
It was a normal thing considering she was his ex-girlfriend and it should never have bothered her but she could feel a sourness in her heart.
Before she could let her thoughts spiral, Maxim continued, ’’But... I...’’
The hesitation in her voice made her turn to look at him and out of all the things she had expected she would see, the last thing that she thought of was a faint redness on his face.
Diana pushed his hand away in disbelief. She was already open-minded enough to sit and talk with him about his ex-girlfriend while keeping her calm but now he wanted her to watch how he blushed thinking about other women. What did he take her for?
Maxim glanced at her innocently when she pushed his hand away, ’’What happened? Why are you angry?" his tone expressed how clueless he was.
Diana’s lips twitched, her heart melting a bit at the sight of his seemingly clueless expression, ’’Because you are too slow. I don’t want to know anymore.’’
Out of sight, out of mind.
’’I think I should go down and explore this place,’’ Diana got up from the bed.
A sense of panic flooded inside Maxim the moment she turned her back to him. Did she misunderstand him?
Diana had just taken two steps away from the bed when two strong arms wrapped around her waist.
’’I am sorry for being slow but... But it is embarrassing, humiliating and absolutely terrifying for me to tell you that I misunderstood some random woman for you and... asked... requested her to be my girlfriend!"
’Silence’
Diana froze.
Maxim closed his eyes, hugging her tighter from the back, ’’I was drunk that night and I had no idea what I did until the next day when Ryle told me about it. I... I had no idea what to tell her because I never expected her to have agreed to something as ridiculous as that. It took me some time before I had a proper conversation with her and we ended it mutually.’’
Diana listened in disbelief as he spoke, a hint of panic apparent in his voice. It was as if he was scared that she would not bother to listen to the rest of his explanation.
’’I had no idea what I was thinking. I... I was terrified to even think that I misunderstood someone else for you. She did not even look like you. She... was not you...’’ Maybe it was the hair or maybe it was just his head which was occupied with the thoughts of Diana even though it had been years since he last saw her, ’’I meant it when I said that you are my first. I...’’
’’Why?" Diana pulled back from his hug as she turned around to look at him, ’’Even if it was me in her place, why would you want me to be your girlfriend back then?" They were not even in touch at that time.
Maxim stilled.
Diana’s question had Maxim look at her shocked silence.
...
The next morning.
As the sunlight filtered through the room, Diana pulled the blanket up, covering her face but the soreness in her body made her come to a sudden realization.
She opened her eyes and immediately glanced to the other side of the bed, only to find it empty.
For a moment, she had forgotten that she was not alone in her bedroom. She was in a hotel room with a certain someone who cleanly dodged her question after giving her the blow of her day.
The moment she questioned Maxim why he wanted to date her back then despite them not being in touch at that time, he cleanly told her that he was starving as well and they should have dinner. And after dinner, before she could try talking to him, he landed on the bed and slept as if he had not been sleeping since years.
Not so surprisingly, it was early in the morning and the man did not seem to be anywhere around.
Diana groaned and pushed herself out of the bed before she started looking for her phone, only to realize that she did not have one.
After the destruction of her previous phone, she had yet to get one for herself.
’Knock knock’
Diana’s brow twitched as she walked towards the door. ’’At least, you still have the conscience to come back...’’ her words trailed off when she opened the door, only to be greeted by the sight of her mother’s bodyguard.
Diana grabbed Maxim’s coat from the hanger and draped it over her dress as the man lowered his gaze.
’’Young Miss, Master and Madam are waiting for you.’’
Diana frowned and glanced at the time on the watch. It was past 10 am already. She was not surprised that they managed to track her down.
