Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 259: I missed you
Chapter 259: I missed you
After staring at her phone for a few good moments, Diana sat up on the bed and reached out to pinch Angel’s cheeks out of habit.
But her movements halted at the sight of the empty bed.
Some time ago, Daisy had talked about her and Angel officially moving out of the Master bedroom. Although the mother-daughter duo slept with her every once in a while when Diana missed Angel, but they mostly slept separately since Daisy’s arrival had Angel having access to some ’real food’ that she couldn’t stop seeking in the middle of the nights.
And Diana, who liked having her beauty sleep above all, would be woken up by two tiny paws kneading her breasts in the middle of the night.
Not that she was unused to it. Because whenever she slept over at a certain sheep’s place, she would have two huge hooves roaming all over her body throughout the night. But as a person who was quite particular about her sleeping habits and mostly slept in one or two positions throughout the night, she had the urge to slap those hooves away only if they weren’t so strong.
And then on the alternative nights when she stayed at her place, Angel’s paws would do the job of giving her dark circles.
In the end, Daisy acted like an ideal elder sister and took the matter into her own hands, following which the mother-daughter duo shifted to the other room.
Although Diana wanted to stop them since she was not used to sleeping without Angel, she stopped herself from doing so after some consideration.
’’Bonding time. They need bonding time ugh!’’ Diana mumbled tiredly and slumped back on the bed.
Hence when she saw Daisy at the breakfast table, Diana made a face at her and said begrudgingly, ’’You stole my daughter."
Daisy looked up from the tabloid and glanced at her sister. The scene of Diana being grumpy early in the morning was not unfamiliar anymore.
They had been seeing it since Angel moved out from the Master Bedroom, ’’Keep her then,’’ Daisy narrowed her eyes.
Diana: "_"
’’Take her to work with you.’’
"_"
"Teach her that she can’t eat too many strawberries all the time and more so, she can’t throw tantrums when her wishes aren’t fulfilled. She is too young for that."
"_"
’’At night, keep your nightdress open.’’
"_"
’’Cough...’’ Ivy choked on her juice as she coughed violently.
Angel, who was sitting on Ivy’s lap looked around in confusion before she proceeded to smooch a new strawberry from Ivy’s fruit platter.
Even Diana was speechless. It had become her morning practice to grumble at Daisy but surprisingly, unlike the other days, Daisy had a response today.
’’Is it Ryle?" Both Diana and Ivy asked at the same time.
After Ivy discovered Daisy’s identity, she was also aware of the reason why Daisy had to keep cross-dressing all the time.
And noticeably, Daisy’s mood always took a turn for the worse whenever she was back from work.
Daisy frowned at the mention of that particular name.
When Daisy remained silent, Diana probed, ’’Did he make things difficult for you after your last fight?"
’’He wants me to find Daisy Chen. In a month,’’ Daisy looked up, ’’Since his people failed in doing so.’’
"_"
Knowingly or unknowingly, he certainly made things difficult for her.
’’Did you offend him?" Ivy asked, ’’Not Dexter, did Daisy offend him?"
’’No.’’
’’Then why is he looking for you?" Diana sighed, ’’Most importantly, how will you deal with it now?"
’’I don’t know.’’
The doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation.
"I need to go to work. See you later,’’ Diana kissed Angel before she left.
Ivy waved her goodbye while Daisy nodded, still somewhat absent-minded.
When Diana opened the door, her wrist was captured and she was pulled in for a deep kiss, the door closing behind her with a drawled groan from Ivy.
Maxim let go of Diana only when she was almost gasping for breath.
’’You...’’
’’Shh,’’ Maxim pressed his finger on her lips, ’’Don’t talk.’’
Diana blinked.
’’I missed you,’’ he kissed her forehead before leading her towards the elevator.
’’You see me every day,’’ Diana mumbled and followed him in a daze.
’’That doesn’t count. Even if you stay by my side for the whole day, I will miss you the moment you are gone.’’
’’That’s sick, you know?" she rolled her eyes at him but her racing heartbeats betrayed the calmness she was feigning. She did not if she was hallucinating but Maxim seemed to have upgraded his flirting skills. He said random things while behaving like they were completely normal but she felt a zoo of butterflies in her stomach.
Once they were inside his car, she hesitated for a moment before placing her hand on his, ’’Do you think we still have an unfinished conversation left?"
Maxim glanced at her.
’’About going back to Bejing, I...’’
’’Ana,’’ Maxim pulled her into his arms, feeling her warmth seeping into his skin, ’’Let’s not talk about that today," his voice was gruff and pleading.
Diana broke the hug to look at him.
’’I know you have places to be, you have things to do. I can’t stop you, I can’t chain you up by my side even though I badly want to,’’ he pulled her hand up and kissed the small tattoo on her wrist, ’’But give me some time. I am not used to thinking of not having you by my side.’’
Diana looked at him quietly for a few seconds before she kissed his chin, ’’We will talk when you want to.’’
Maxim grinned, wider than a Chesire cat, highlighting his dimples and sending her heart in a flurry mess.
She could not help but ask, ’’Maxim, has anyone ever told you that you have a beautiful smile?"
Maxim nodded.
"Who?"
He held her hand and kissed the back of it, ’’You just did.’’
Diana burst out in laughter, ’’Then, have you ever been told that you are so easy to satisfy? I just to agree to such a small thing and you are already smiling like a fool.’’
Maxim’s face turned blank, ’’Then, is that a turn-off to you?"
Diana laughed harder, ’’Will you play hard to get if I say yes?"
’’I can consider.’’
