Chapter 251: Suffer the consequences

The man named Elder Qin was stunned for a moment before he became emotional, ’’Old Master’s father took me in I was a homeless child. I grew up in the Qin Family with the sole motive of being Old Master’s aide. But then Old Master handed his legacy to you and I became your aide until you left the family, and then I chose to stay by your side,’’ he sighed wistfully, ’’When I think about it that way, I have watched you grow up in front of my eyes. And I have witnessed you bringing pride to the family. I have lost count of the years I have been by your side.’’

Louis smiled but the smile did not reach his eyes, ’’Elder Qin, do you think I was wrong all along? Was it all my fault?"

Elder Qin opened his mouth to speak but in the end, he did not say anything.

"Do you think I deserve to be left here all alone in the corner of some random hospital where my life is being treated like a commodity?"

Louis shook his head, ’’Everyone makes mistakes. Who can say that he is a saint that hasn’t once been wrong throughout his life? Why do I have to suffer?"

’’My father thought of me as a stain on our family so I left. My brother took over my position and before I left, I asked him for his help. A last help,’’ Louis looked at Elder Qin tearfully, ’’Do you know what it was?"

Elder Qin wiped the corner of his eyes as he shook his head.

"I begged him to help me find my son. That’s all I ever asked for. My Ah Xian was so young back then. How hard it must be for him to struggle to survive in this harsh world?" Louis clenched his fingers into fists, ’’But my very own little brother looked at me mockingly. He said that even if my son was alive, he would find it easier to breathe anywhere in this world than in the company of his father.’’

Elder Qin hesitated before he stretched his hand to rub the man’s back like he used to do when he was young, ’’It has been a long time. Even if young Master survived, it’s hard for us to find him out if he is not perfectly healthy after that incident.’’

His words sounded nice to the ears but in fact, he was implying that Louis’ son might have been traumatized or disabled due to the event that occurred back then.

Louis wiped his tears as he shook his head, ’’I refuse to believe that my Ah Xian is not alive and healthy. I will find him at any cost.’’

When he moved to stand up from the bed, Elder Qin held him by his shoulders and restrained his movements, ’’You are not in the condition to look for him. Haven’t you heard what the doctor said? Given your condition, you need complete rest at this moment,’’ tears rolled down his cheeks.

But his words seemed to have snapped something inside Louis who slumped back on the bed, ’’Right. How could I forget that? I can still find my son later.’’

Just as Elder was about to sigh in relief, Louis continued, ’’But before that, I need to handle this hospital.’’

Elder Qin looked at him in shock, ’’We are still looking for that doctor who escaped but the rest of the hospital is innocent. Had the other two doctors not operated on you in time, you would not have made it...’’ he could not complete his sentence.

Louis laughed, ’’You are too innocent. Do you think I don’t see through their schemes? This must be some of our enemies trying to trick us. I have gone to hospitals before and my condition was never this grave. How did they escalate it to a point that I don’t have much time to live?" he shook his head before narrowing his eyes, ’’I will make these people suffer the consequences of operating on me in an unauthorized manner. They will pay for it. After that, I will get my condition checked in some other hospital before we start looking for Ah Xian.’’

Elder Qin looked like he wanted to say something.

But he was interrupted by Louis, ’’Get my team of lawyers over here. I want every single staff in this hospital behind bars and especially these three doctors who were involved in my treatment.’’

Elder Qin sighed, ’’But...’’

’’Wait...’’ Louis gave it a thought before speaking up again, ’’There is this little girl called Diana. She is the assistant of one of those doctors who operated on me. Let her be and get the rest of the hospital dragged into this case. The further you escalate it, the better. I might have left my family but I am still a Qin. They should know the consequences of messing with someone they should not dare to touch.’’

With Louis’ ultimatum thrown, Elder Qin knew he could not change his decision no matter what he said or did. So, he nodded and retreated from the room.

’’Doctor, shall I go and check on that patient..?" Veronica asked Alex in a hesitant voice as they walked towards his office.

Alex stopped in his tracks. After giving it a thought, he shook his head, ’’Forget it. Don’t do it yourself.’’

Veronica was surprised by his response.

But before she could ask him about the reason, Alex continued, ’’Louis did seem rather calm after he heard about his condition but I won’t bet on his calmness for sure. That patient is rather temperamental. If you go there when his mood is unstable, you might get yourself killed or at least injured.’’

Veronica looked at Alex in awe. Was this one-tracked mind, stubborn and rude second-generation heir concerned about his assistant? She was not sure if she should feel touched.

Before she could utter a word of gratefulness, Alex continued speaking in his own zone.
