Chapter 240: Omg~ How controversial!
Chapter 240: Omg~ How controversial!
’’What is funny?" Maxim hesitated for a moment before he met her gaze without looking away this time.
"That you hide like this at my place to prank me. Do you find that funny?" Diana asked.
She grabbed a tissue and wiped her hand.
Maxim shook his head once.
She frowned.
’’I was not trying to prank you,’’ he pointed his chin towards the tissue in her hand, ’’This is the reason why I sat there.’’
She looked at him quietly.
Maxim took it as a cue to explain further, ’’I was afraid that you won’t eat if you know that I cooked them.’’
’’So, you know...?’’ Diana chuckled, ’’That’s good, anyway. Since you know, you should leave now.’’
She did not spare a gaze at him as she turned around and walked towards her room.
But before she could walk further away from him, Maxim grabbed her hand.
His strong arms wrapped around her waist as he hugged her from the back.
’’I am sorry. Ana, don’t ignore me. Don’t walk away.’’
Diana felt a warmth in the crook of her neck when he gently whispered those words against her skin, his tone vulnerable.
Diana froze.
’’I am sorry. I didn’t mean those words,’’ Fuck. He regretted it the moment those words left his mouth. But at that moment, none of his anger or frustration was directed at her. Those hurtful words were not directed at her either.
But in that situation, he could not stay and explain to her.
And when he found her desk empty later, it was only then did Maxim realize the weight of his words on her.
’’I know you didn’t,’’ Diana broke the silence between them, her words surprising him.
She broke free from his hug and turned around to face him, ’’I know you did not mean those words. You weren’t even looking at me when you were speaking.’’
Maxim’s lips parted, ’’I...’’
Diana raised her hand to stop him from explaining anything, ’’And even if you meant them, I don’t mind it. None of what you said was offensive at all. It’s the truth,’’ Although half the truth, but it was the truth anyway.
Unlike Daisy, she had never broken free from the shelter of her parents. She never had the intention to do so and she was not as brave as Daisy. Or maybe, she had other reasons. If not for Angel, maybe she would still be there, playing the perfect socialite as per her mother’s wishes.
At the end of the day, she tolerated everything like an obedient doll. There was nothing wrong with his reference. She was not offended about it because she knew his words and anger at that moment were never directed at her.
She knew that regardless of how much they fought or argued, Maxim never disrespected her.
Maybe he acted cocky a few times in the past but she never took shit from him so they were equal on that part.
She did not even have an idea about why he was so triggered at that time but she knew that his words or anger were never the reason that she was acting this way.
Diana stepped back from him, ’’In case you are wondering, I am not angry. You can leave now.’’
Just as she was about to turn again, Maxim held her wrist and pulled her into his arms, ’’Then why are you not looking at me? You say you are not angry, Ana, then why do I feel like you are drawing a line between us?" he leaned closer and whispered against her lips.
Her heartbeats quickened when she met his downcast eyes. Those dark eyes seemed to have lost their luster as he looked at her like a forlorn man who has been abandoned by the whole world.
Diana did not know what overcame her at that moment. All she knew was that one moment, she was looking at him helplessly, but the next moment, she grabbed the collar of his shirt and yanked at it before pressing her lips against his.
The moment their lips touched, her heart skipped a few beats.
Maxim’s eyes widened. His grip on her loosened gradually.
Diana gradually came back to her senses.
She immediately broke the kiss.
Maxim could still feel that soft touch lingering on his lips, so brief and so beautiful just as she was.
Diana was flustered, ’’I... That...’’
’’Apologies. You don’t get to explain after you initiate such things.’’
Slender fingers raked inside her hair as Maxim grabbed the back of her head and captured her lips again.
Diana resisted for a moment but her struggle turned futile when his palm settled on the small of her waist. His index fingers drew circles on her skin through her clothes and she felt herself going lax in his arms.
As her lips parted, his tongue thrust inside her mouth.
’Click’
Diana’s eyes widened when she heard the sound coming from the door.
She snapped back to her senses. The moment she tried to push Maxim away, he cupped her face and kissed her harder.
Her eyes grew dazed again.
More noises ensued in the next moment.
’Crash’
’Bam’
’’You...’’
Diana’s eyes were as wide as saucers as she tried to get Maxim off her.
But the man had the audacity to lick her lips twice before gently breaking the kiss, completely unlike how rough he had been a moment ago.
Did he think he was eating a pastry? First, devour, then wipe your fingers clean?!
Diana’s face flushed, partly from excitement and partly from anger.
When she turned to the door, her face took a brighter shade of red as she glanced at Daisy’s straight ’get a room’ and Ivy’s ’Oh my god. How controversial!’ faces.
Thankfully, little Angel seemed to have fallen asleep in her mother’s arms and did not have to witness their ’moment’.
Diana sneaked a glance at Maxim and she felt more frustrated when she found him leaning back on the chair and gazing at her hopefully, never once sparing a glance in the other direction as if two people did not just witness them devouring each other.
The expression on his face could clearly be translated to—We are continuing after you chase them away. Right? Right?!
