Chapter 238: Unalive her
Chapter 238: Unalive her
That gaze... Maxim was familiar with it. It was just that a long time had passed and her looks were too unimportant for him to remember.
He could never get tired of looking at Diana’s face despite remembering every detail about her and he could talk to her for hours on even the most frustrating topics like her strange fictional books. Yet with other women, one look drained his energy and one sentence strained his throat.
Probably, it was another unhealthy obsession of his.
Maybe he was sick. Diana was a plague.
His obsession with her had stretched to a point that had him wondering what sanity he was left with.
Daisy was not Diana. Why would he care to bother with how some other woman looked?
But at this point, he was having second thoughts about having such a mentality.
Daisy was not some other woman. She was Diana’s damned sister whom he mistook as some lecher who had designs on his girl! Damn it!!
Now that the conjecture had formed in his head, the image of Daisy and Dexter merged in his head, leaving him with the result that left him speechless.
Maxim felt relieved that Daisy finally reunited with Diana and Angel.
But whenever he thought about the jealousy in his heart, his face took a green shade.
He found it rather hard to accept that all this while, he had been jealous of a woman. What’s more, she was Diana’s sister.
Such blasphemy.
He did not know how to react or what to say so he just stood there, staring at Daisy blankly.
Daisy had the urge to roll her eyes when she saw the dumb look on his face. This fox had such times too.
In the end, she crossed her arms in front of her chest and pointed her chin towards the door, ’’Do you want to get out willingly or do you want me to escort you?"
With that question, Maxim’s attention dangled back to his motive behind coming here in the first place.
His eyes swerved back to Diana who avoided his gaze.
Maxim glanced at Angel before looking back at Diana. One of his brows arched a bit as he looked at Diana expectantly, ’’Then, I will leave...?"
Diana did not respond.
Daisy walked towards the door and held it for him like a ’gentleman’. If not for the figure of her unobstructed peaches within her white t-shirt, she still could have passed off as the young and delicate-faced youth ’Dexter’.
"This can remain confidential,’’ Daisy pointed a finger at her wig as she looked at the reluctant Maxim taking baby steps out of the door, ’’Or you can go fuck yourself.’’
Maxim almost lost balance.
The unfiltered words. That same poisonous tongue. Maxim’s lips twitched a bit.
When Diana told him about Angel’s parentage, he thought Daisy would have gone through a transformation. But looking at her, he had the feeling that his days ahead were not easy anymore.
After all these years, they might still not get along.
He nodded once.
’’Keep it from your bastardly best friend or else I will chop...’’
’’Daisy...’’ Diana cleared her throat, unable to take it any longer. It could be said that Daisy’s usage of profanities was limited to very special moments but once it started, it would get harder and harder to digest those words.
Daisy shot an annoyed look at Diana before she turned to look at Maxim who nodded at her, his gaze never once shifting from Diana.
’’Papa...?" Little Angel stretched her tiny paws out once silence reigned the space.
Maxim looked at her sweet little face looking at him hopefully and his eyes glimmered.
Daisy caught that sly glint in his eyes and danger alarms went off in her head.
’’Pa...’’
’Bam’
’’...Pa...?" Angel blinked as she glanced at the closed door.
The little girl stared in a daze for a moment before she started bawling tearlessly like a stubborn kid who had her toy snatched away from her.
Diana rocked her to no avail.
Daisy massaged her throbbing head as she walked towards the little girl and glanced at her in scrutiny.
Angel met her gaze and cried even harder.
Daisy tapped her forehead, ’’Don’t follow your Mama’s footsteps.’’
Translation: Don’t be seduced by foxes.
"_" Diana felt like she was unnecessarily dragged into this mother-daughter scuffle.
Daisy took Angel from Diana’s arms and she started coaxing her. Although her voice was cold, but her movements were gentle enough for the little girl to feel comforted.
’’You asked me to not tell him,’’ Diana said, looking at Daisy thoughtfully.
Daisy shrugged a shoulder, ’’Blanket slipped.’’
"_"
Diana glanced down and her lips twitched slightly, ’’You didn’t have to reveal that you... you are Daisy.’’
To some extent, Diana was relieved that they did not have to keep it from Maxim or Ivy anymore. While Daisy was fine and accustomed to hiding her identity or gender in her diverse professions throughout the years, Diana was not used to it. She felt like walking on eggshells in fear that she might expose her sister somehow and cause trouble.
But she still could not help but worry.
Initially, she had felt like Daisy was being overtly paranoid and Ryle would not hold it against her for this matter of hiding her identity and disguising herself for this job. But after seeing the way Ryle was tormenting Daisy, Diana had nothing to say about Daisy’s wariness.
Daisy flashed a ’You are a fool’ look at Diana before she said, ’’I don’t trust men.’’
"_" How was that related to this?
’’I know that. That’s why I am asking why you..’’
’’Because that bas... man is sick in the head,’’ Daisy rephrased her words smartly when she felt a soft bundle moving around in her arms, ’’Whenever he spotted me around you, he gave me creepy looks.’’
Diana was speechless, ’’You are overthinking.’’
Daisy looked at her a little emotionlessly and did not bother explaining anything.
The looks that Maxim gave her usually would be the kind that was filled with threats. She never took them seriously before until today.
Diana and Maxim fought but Maxim was ready to take it all out on her.
Daisy was afraid that if she kept the facade on, then that man would probably come from the window in the middle of the night to unalive her.
