Crashing into an Old Flame
Chapter 237: D... Daisy?

Chapter 237: D... Daisy?

Diana frowned as she observed the figure carved on the lighter closely.

For some reason, it appeared somewhat familiar to her. A fleeting image appeared in her mind but before she could grasp it, it disappeared.

’Ring Ring Ring’

The sound of the doorbell ringing broke the trail of her thoughts.

Diana glanced at Angel before looking towards the door of the Master bedroom, ’’Baby, do you think Mama’s laptop arrived earlier?"

’’Mama...’’ Angel looked at her with limpid eyes as she stretched her tiny hands out.

Diana, who had just walked to the door, paused in her tracks as she looked at the little girl, ’’Mm?"

’’Shawbewwie...’’

Diana did not know whether to laugh or cry. From what she heard from Ivy, this little girl had one strawberry from Daisy’s hand today.

And now the whole day, she had badgered her for strawberries.

’’Alright, I will let you have one later,’’ Diana walked back to her, ignoring the persistent ringing of the doorbell as she carried Angel in her arms.

Angel jutted her bottom lips slightly and buried her tiny face in Diana’s neck, acting like a spoiled little hamster.

Diana patted her bottom, ’’There there. Mama will buy you a whole farm of strawberries... in the future,’’ she added after some consideration.

By the time both Diana and Angel made it to the door, Ivy and Daisy were stirred awake by the constant ringing of the doorbell.

Ivy was sitting on the couch with her high bun dangling off to one side while Daisy walked out of the guest room with a blanket wrapped around her body. She had taken off all her disguise except her wig before she went to sleep so she could not be bothered to put them back on, ’’Who is it?" Daisy looked at Ivy, her tone had come out naturally feminine due to the sleepiness.

But Ivy was far too muddleheaded to notice the strange change in Daisy’s voice. She shrugged quietly, not being able to move her mouth to speak.

Unlike the sloths behind her, Diana literally skipped to the door with a wide smile on her face.

But the moment she opened the door, the smile on her face gradually died down.

Maxim stood at the door with his brows tugged together.

When the door opened and his gaze landed on Diana, his eyes brightened and the frown between his brows disappeared, ’’Ana...’’

’Bang’

The rest of his words remained unsaid as the door closed in his face with a loud noise.

Maxim looked at the closed door, stunned.

He raised his hand, about to knock when the door suddenly opened again.

Maxim was surprised and his eyes lit up briefly with hope.

But the moment Diana opened her mouth to speak, the light in his eyes dimmed, ’’Don’t knock again.’’

Just as she was about to close the door, he put his hand in the gap and grabbed the door, stopping her movements, ’’Listen to me. We need to talk.’’

Ironically, those words sounded familiar to Diana’s ears. Didn’t she keep saying those same words when they left for the hospital together?

She glanced at his hand that was holding the door, preventing her from closing it. A finger gently grazed against her little finger, making it tremble slightly, ’’Let go,’’ she looked up at him.

A vein twitched on Maxim’s forehead, ’’Ana, let’s talk.’’

’’I need to close the door,’’ she frowned, ’’Let go.’’

"I won’t...’’

’’Just kick it close.’’

Maxim’s words were interrupted by another ’masculine’ voice.

From the gap between the door and the wall, Maxim spotted a figure covered in a blanket that walked towards Diana and came to stand beside her.

Maxim’s grip on the door loosened gradually when he saw the ’man’ holding Diana’s hand and pulling her behind him. After that, he had the audacity to pat her shoulder as if he was consoling her.

And Diana let herself be willingly pulled by him. She was so obedient that Maxim’s head throbbed painfully.

At that particular moment, Maxim understood one thing. Whoever said that jealousy was a green-eyed monster must have gotten a few things wrong.

Because all that he could see was red.

Just as Daisy was about to kick the door close, the door was forcefully pushed open, catching her off guard.

The blanket wrapped around her body dropped as she swiftly dodged to the side, letting out a breath when the door smashed against the sturdy wall with a ’bam’.

Had she been one second late, then she would have taken the hit for that wall.

The loud noise startled Angel who was lazing around in Diana’s arms. Surprisingly, she did not cry but just changed her position to a more comfortable one in Diana’s arms as if she was already used to such instances.

On the other hand, before Daisy could speak a word, her collar was grabbed and she was dragged by a harsh grip as a fist aimed at her face.

She grabbed Maxim’s fist, surprised by his strength when he managed to push her hand back despite her iron grip.

He was rather weak and sickly when he was young.

When Maxim was about to raise his fist again, Daisy spoke up, ’’Pull these moves and you can forget about dating my sister.’’

Ivy, who was still sitting muddleheaded on the couch because of being stirred awake suddenly, felt like she was still in her dreamland when she heard that unfamiliar ’feminine’ voice in their place.

She looked at ’Dexter’s’ back in disbelief.

Diana was so shocked from the moment the door was forcefully pushed by Maxim that she had yet to react but at this moment, she did not know what to say anymore.

Compared to the rest of the crowd, no one’s shock could be compared to Maxim’s.

His fingers that had gripped Daisy’s shirt in a death grip trembled a little before gradually loosening up.

’’D.. Daisy?"

Daisy glanced at him emotionlessly.
