Chapter 232: Investigate a patient
Chapter 232: Investigate a patient
If Daisy could, she would go back to the past and make up for all her regrets by forcefully taking Diana away from that place, against her will.
Although she did not say it, every word that Diana uttered was like a knife cutting her heart.
Had she been too selfish? Had she persisted in taking Diana away with her, would things be different today?
Daisy closed her eyes.
Angel smiled brightly, ’’No cwy... No cwy.. Mommy’’ she toddled over to Diana’s lap and stretched her little hand towards Daisy’s moist cheeks.
Daisy opened her eyes and looked at Angel in a daze, not realizing when another drop of tear escaped from the corner of her eyes.
Angel’s wide eyes then shifted to Ivy, ’’Vi.. cwy...’’ she said in the same voice as if she was a doll who crammed those words.
All the three women burst out in laughter. The tension in the closet seemed to have dispersed in thin air.
Diana’s heart melted. She bit her lips, restraining her urge to burst into happy tears this time. Their little Angel was growing up.
If Maxim was here, he would have agreed with her...
She stopped her sudden turn of thoughts.
Ivy walked towards Daisy and Diana and squatted beside them.
The three women occupied the corner of the walk-in-closet. After a few moments of silence, Ivy spoke up cautiously, ’’What happened today?" she looked at Diana.
Ivy was careful enough to not upset Diana again but without knowing what triggered her, they could not do anything.
’If Maxim was responsible for this...’ Ivy looked at Daisy’s darkened face and mourned for Maxim in her heart.
Diana stroked Angel’s face for a few moments before she reluctantly passed the little dumpling to Daisy and pushed herself to her feet.
Both Ivy and Daisy were mystified as they watched Diana rummaging about the place once again.
After almost 15 minutes, Diana held a small golden lighter in her hand as she turned to look at them, ’’I need your help.’’
Ivy pointed at Daisy before pointing a finger at herself, ’’His help or mine?"
’’Perhaps you both will need to lend a hand.’’
’’Just tell me what to do. Except for carving my organs out, I can do anything for you, Dee~"
"_"
Diana was stumped for words. Who asked her to carve her organs out?
Both Daisy and Ivy did not ask any questions. As long as Diana was not unhappy, Daisy was fine with whatever she asked her to do.
Meanwhile, Ivy was inwardly shocked and heartbroken but she did not show it on her face, to not let her mood affect Diana. Intentionally or unintentionally, she discovered about the things that probably nobody knew about Diana, not even Maxim. And Diana trusted her enough to not hold back in her presence.
Somehow, Ivy could relate to Diana as she knew what it was like to hide a scar from the rest of the world because it was too ugly to be shown but at the same time to suffer because it was too painful to hide.
So, she smartly chose not to ask anything that she was not supposed to.
It was almost like a tacit understanding between the three women.
Diana had already calmed down from her earlier outburst and she did not feel as bad as before because there were other, more important things weighing her mind at this moment.
"What’s with that lighter?" Daisy immediately grasped the hint and stared at the golden lighter in Diana’s hand.
As Daisy and Ivy stood up, Diana showed the lighter to them, ’’I want you to investigate a patient. He is called Louis. I don’t know his surname.’’
’’And...?" Ivy looked up at Diana.
Diana blinked, ’’And this lighter belongs to him...?" she cleared her throat when Daisy and Ivy looked at her blankly, ’’You guys are good with computers,’’ Diana elbowed them guiltily.
Daisy fell speechless.
Ivy scratched her nose. Carving her organs out would have been an easier help to provide.
She looked over to the side, hoping for ’Dexter’ to break it to Diana but seeing ’his’ face, she knew the man had no intention to do it.
So, Ivy braced herself and spoke up, ’’But Dee, there are countless people named Louis in the world. We can’t track one down just with that name... and this lighter.’’
Diana’s lips twitched, ’’I know but...’’ She still had some hopes.
As her face turned like that of a deflected balloon, Daisy gritted her teeth and spoke up, ’’I am sure we can do something about it.’’
Ivy glared at the person who was unabashedly giving such false hopes to Diana. How could they trace a person just by his name?
She thought about it for a moment before her eyes lit up, ’’You said he is a patient.’’
Diana nodded.
Ivy glanced at Daisy and the latter nodded.
’’Then we can hack into the hospital database to steal his private information for you,’’ Daisy suggested.
Diana’s lips twitched, ’’Well, that... I don’t think you will find anything there,’’ If it was available on his information, then Veronica would not be so puzzled about his identity.
She left the hospital only after giving it a thought briefly.
Daisy and Ivy turned quiet.
Diana’s eyes narrowed suddenly, ’’From what I know, his old records are there. We can check where he received treatment previously. Probably we will be find something about him from his previous hospital or doctor.’’
As a staff member, Diana had complete access to a patient’s information; she would not have needed Daisy or Ivy to hack into the hospital database if those things contained a clue. But those guards who had imposed on the staff members were most probably Louis’s subordinates.
If they were all over the hospital, then Diana doubted that they would cordially let her take Louis’ private information.
It would be more convenient to acquire that information by other means.
Before Daisy could speak, Ivy cut in, ’’I can do it,’’ On this front, ’Dexter’ was her idol since the day she had seen the man tracking Diana’s whereabouts the night she was with Maxim.
