Crashing into an Old Flame
Chapter 231: Language

Chapter 231: Language

Diana did not respond verbally but she just shook her head.

She did not meet their gazes as she softly uttered after a few moments, ’’Tired,’’ with that said, she walked off to the Master Bedroom.

’’Strange,’’ Ivy muttered.

Daisy shifted her gaze from Diana’s back and turned to look at Ivy, ’’What’s strange?"

Ivy blinked and turned to look at Daisy who had been silent all this while, ’’I have seen her working the whole day and then coming over to take care of Angel as if nothing was out of place. She never said she was tired,’’ she explained.

Daisy looked back towards Diana’s room, ’’You are right.’’

After saying that, Daisy walked off to the Master Bedroom.

Ivy followed her while holding Angel.

When they entered the room, the room was empty.

They followed the source of noises of things being dropped on the floor, only to find Diana inside the walk-in closet, flipping through her bags recklessly. There was a pile of bags and clutches on the floor.

Angel who was being carried in Ivy’s arms struggled. When Ivy placed the girl down, she immediately grabbed a bag with both her hands and nibbled on the leather a bit before she started playing with it.

Ivy was speechless. This lil ingrate. Usually, she would be licking her mama but now that it was time for her to act cute, she started playing instead.

Diana did not stop her movements as if she had not noticed their presence. She kept searching through the bags.

Daisy could not bear to see it any longer. She approached her and grabbed her shoulders before turning her around, forcefully stopping her movements, ’’What happened?" her voice was soft.

The calm facade on Diana’s face cracked almost instantly as tears trickled down her cheeks.

She sat on the floor and she covered her face with both her hands. Soft sobs spilled from her mouth as she buried her face in her knees.

Daisy felt like her heart was stifled.

Ivy was stunned.

Only Angel was unperturbed in the whole situation as she chewed on the strap of a bag.

’’Diana...’’ Daisy pulled her into her arms.

’’He... Maybe he thinks I am acting entitled. But that would be because I showed him that since we were young.

When I was absent for days after the vacation and he asked me why I was gone for long, I told him my parents wanted me to spend more time with them and gave him many more excuses. I did not tell him that I was hospitalized because he scored more than me and my mother was upset about it so when I argued, I was hit. I did not want him to feel guilty.

When he saw marks on my neck, I could not bring myself to tell him that they were marked when my mother lost her temper and strangled me. I was averse to being pitied by him. I lied it was a dog who hurt me.

After that, I did not tell him because I was afraid that he would be impulsive. If mom came to know about him...’’

Diana broke the hug and wiped her tears as she looked at Daisy sincerely, ’’I did not want him to be harmed. But now? I am just used to hiding it from him. I don’t even want to mention the place I escaped from. I don’t want him to know how pathetic I had once been. I am afraid. I am reluctant.’’

Daisy looked at her, ’’You have nothing to be afraid of.’’

’’I am afraid of his pity and sympathy, afraid that he will be angry I did not stand up for myself, afraid that he will be disappointed that I lied all this while. Whenever I think of the past, I feel like I am stripping myself bare naked,’’ Diana wiped her tears with the back of her hand, ’’But... Today, he saw what I had always portrayed. He did not know when he told me to play princess at my home what it took me to escape that place. I should have been happy that my facade worked. But I don’t feel happy at all.’’

Diana broke into tears as she softly mumbled, ’’I don’t feel happy not being known and understood by him. I... Am I a hypocrite?"

’’You are not a hypocrite,’’ Daisy’s eyes narrowed, ’’He is motherfuc...’’

’’Language!" Ivy interrupted hurriedly, her eyes still brimming with tears from every word she heard and everything she realized. It suddenly dawned on her why Diana never mentioned going back to her home.

If home was a poisoned place like that, who would be willing to breathe in that air?

Yet the moment Daisy was about to cuss, Ivy jumped up, still swimming in aftershocks of the revelation.

Daisy frowned.

Diana nodded while rubbing her eyes, ’’Language..’’ her voice was hoarse from crying.

"_" Was it the right time to talk about language?

Daisy speechlessly glanced at Angel before looking at Ivy and Diana, ’’She doesn’t understand a word,’’ she shook her head slightly, ’’Do not cry anymore...’’

Suddenly, Diana felt a soft touch on her cheeks that copied Daisy’s movements and wiped her tears. She looked at little Angel who had wobbled over to them at some point.

’’Mama... no cwy...’’

Both Ivy and Diana turned to look at Daisy accusingly, ’’She understands,’’ Diana said.

Ivy nodded, ’’You lack experience.’’

Diana nodded.

Daisy blankly glanced at the two women who claimed that she lacked experience as if they had raised a dozen of babies.

After giving it a thought, she spoke up, ’’It’s fine if Angel learns a few bad words. I will teach her when and where to use them properly.’’

This time it was Ivy’s and Diana’s turn to be speechless.

"_" Um... Was it okay to pamper the child like that?

Daisy’s eyes lowered, and her long lashes cast a shadow over her cheeks. Her daughter... did not need to act like a prim and proper lady. She could learn to curse, learn to kill, she could do anything to not let herself suffer at anyone’s hand.
