Crashing into an Old Flame -
Chapter 182: Knocked him out
Chapter 182: Knocked him out
Maxim placed his chin on her shoulder and continued peeking inside the flower shop, ’’Ana, you are so noisy...’’ he complained in a whisper.
’’Mmm... mmm...’’ Diana glared at him as she tried to remove his palm from her face but he was holding her in a death grip. She narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth, ready to bite him when he released her suddenly.
Maxim grabbed her wrist.
Pushing open the glass door, Maxim dragged her inside the flower shop.
’’There is no one around... Why are we here?" This flower shop seemed to be connected to the house and Diana was certain that the owner was probably in the house.
’’Shh... You are going to get us caught, silly!" Maxim whisper-yelled as he pulled her to check out the flowers.
"_"
’’Which flower do you want?" Diana asked him helplessly.
Maxim glanced at the roses before he turned to look at her.
His cheeks were completely red because of the alcohol and he was looking at her so adorably that she could not help but want to steal for him since he seemed to want that at this moment.
Diana bit her bottom lips. Drunk Maxim was trying to bend her morals. Hmph!
’’You want roses?" she asked him.
’’You like them.’’
’’But I don’t want them right now,’’ she tried to coax him.
’’I am not giving them to you either,’’ Maxim held a finger in front of her eyes and waved it from left to right as he shook his head, ’’Why are you so greedy?"
"_"
Diana choked on the air.
She released her grip on him. He could do whatever he wanted, get flowers for whoever he wanted. She was not going to meddle.
Whatever.
She walked towards the couch in the middle of the hall and took a seat on the arm of the couch.
Maxim treated her like air and walked ahead before proceeding to pluck flowers from the display while looking around sneakily.
Diana closed her eyes, pressing her palm on her forehead. After a moment, she glanced at the CCTV cameras and made a peace sign. Hopefully, the owner would not be too offended.
’’Ana...’’
Diana glanced at Maxim.
Before she could talk to him, he placed his index finger under her chin, ’’Don’t move...’’
She caught sight of the two dahlias he was holding in his hand.
Maxim fixed one near her left ear, tucking it between her hair properly before he proceeded to the right side.
By the end, Diana had two dahlias on either side of her head and she believed she must be resembling a cartoon character.
So he rejected getting roses for her because he wanted other flowers. Diana speechlessly glanced at him. She seemed to have misunderstood his intentions earlier.
She sighed, ’’Happy now?"
He nodded.
Diana was about to chastise him but in the end, she pushed herself to her feet and ruffled his hair, ’’Then, it’s good. As long as you are happy.’’
She grabbed a few dollar bills from her clutch and placed them on the coffee table in front of the couch before looking towards the camera. Diana grabbed one ear of hers and mouthed ’Sorry’.
Maxim continued looking at her patiently as if this whole ordeal had nothing to do with him.
’’Let’s go now,’’ she grabbed his hand just in case he ran away again.
But he seemed obedient this time all the while as they walked back to the apartment building.
As expected, Daisy was sitting there with a gloomy look on her face.
Diana was about to coax her a little but Maxim started getting unsettled.
"_"
Diana looked at him, ’’What now? Do you not feel well?"
’’You said we you would take me home...’’
Although his words were slightly incoherent, Diana could figure out even what he was mumbling.
She nodded.
’’My home only has you in it, not him,’’ he pointed a hand at Daisy while looking at Diana.
Diana ended up smiling, ’’He is here to help, Warner.’’
’’Help whom?" Maxim started shaking his head, ’’You need help? I can help you with whatever you want. I will do anything you want me to... Don’t take help from anyone else, okay?"
He looked at her so innocently that she could not take her eyes off him for a few seconds.
After some time, she averted her gaze, ’’He is helping me to take you home since you keep running away,’’ she mumbled, expecting him to cause a scene again.
When Diana did not hear his voice, she glanced at Maxim worriedly but his eyes were closed and he was on the verge of dropping on her.
Diana spotted Daisy who was holding his arm, supporting him.
’’What did you do to him?"
Daisy scowled, ’’Knocked him out. Didn’t kill yet.’’
Diana focused on the ’yet’. ’’You... What do you mean yet?"
’’You want us to spend the night here?" Daisy quirked a brow.
Diana glared at her but in the end, she moved to support Maxim’s other arm.
Despite the both of them holding him up, Diana felt like the three of them would end up falling somewhere.
Maxim appeared lean but as she tried to support him, she realized that he was muscular and heavy.
By the time they made it back to her place, Diana was panting.
Daisy dropped Maxim on the bed like a potato sack and massaged her shoulders but she seemed to be in a better condition than Diana.
Diana stared at her sister indignantly, ’’Why did you shove him like that?"
Daisy was speechless, ’’When did I shove him?"
’’Just now. Can’t you be a little gentle?’’ Looking at Maxim’s sleeping face, she felt her heart soften.
’’I. Was. Very. Gentle,’’ Daisy emphasized as she walked out of the room.
Diana followed her, ’’You were not gentle at all. You handled him roughly!"
’’Sue me then.’’
"_"
Diana pouted.
At this time, Ivy walked out of the master bedroom with Angel. Both of them looked like there were here to be spectators of the show. Ivy was even munching the peanuts in her hand.
Daisy turned to look at Diana. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, ’’One of you drinks alcohol like water. The other is like this,’’ she pointed her hand towards the guest bedroom, ’’And you... what did I tell you about training yourself? You look like you are having a heart attack.’’
Diana rolled her eyes, ’’I am just a little tired,’’ she had a lot of drinks as well and she continued running around after Maxim. Her body was naturally not as fit as Daisy’s but she was certainly not looking like she was having a heart attack. Or maybe she did.
She coughed.
Ivy glanced at the guest bedroom before looking at Diana, ’’Dee, I was so worried about the both of you when Dex told me what happened. It’s good that you are back.’’
Diana stretched her hand towards Ivy pitifully, ’’Only you care about me. You are so good to me.’’
"_"
Daisy slapped her hand away, ’’You mean I am not good to you? I should have thrown you both in the garbage.’’
Diana tilted her head to the side pitifully.
Daisy sighed, ’’I’ll make some hangover soup for you both.’’
Diana’s eyes brightened, ’’You know how to make it?"
’’Of course,’’ Daisy patted her head, her gaze briefly pausing on the flowers hanging atop her ears.
Diana touched the flowers. She thought they would fall off amidst all these chaos but Maxim seemed to have glued them to her hair.
’’He did that?" Daisy asked.
Diana blinked.
Daisy shook her head helplessly but a small amused smile played on her lips. After a moment, she spoke up, ’’You look like you don’t need the soup but it’s better to have it in case you don’t feel well later.’’
Diana and Ivy followed Daisy to the kitchen while Diana made faces at Angel, making the little girl giggle.
Ivy left to tuck Angel since was beginning to doze off in Ivy’s arms.
Diana glanced at them till they were out of her sight before she turned to Daisy, ’’I thought you would be uncomfortable around Ivy,’’ Given her sister’s personality, and the recent betrayal from her best friend, she thought that Daisy would not trust Ivy around Angel.
And she had been quite concerned about how she should deal with it when that time came. Although it was Ivy’s job at first but now, Ivy and Diana were friends and she knew how the former treated Angel.
