Chapter 183: Dee, you are harsh
Chapter 183: Dee, you are harsh
Diana did not know how to coax Daisy but surprisingly, Daisy did not look bothered when she heard her words.
While preparing the ingredients for the soup, Daisy calmly responded, ’’You think of me as a paranoid person. I am not one. I just prefer remaining cautious.’’
Diana scratched the back of her neck. She did not think Daisy was a paranoid person. It was just that sometimes, she went to extremes but Diana did not think that it was her fault, nor was it an intentional trait. It was just an instinct of hers.
’’I trust you so naturally, I trust the people you trust,’’ Daisy looked at Diana.
Diana smiled, ’’I know you treat me the best.’’
’’The flowers in your hair don’t seem to agree with you.’’
"_" Diana felt speechless. When did Daisy develop a sense of humor?
She touched the dahlias in her hair before she removed them. Leaning back on the kitchen island, she observed the flowers and thought about how Maxim sneaked inside the Florist’s like a thief and how he acted spoiled and clingy. She could not stop smiling as she thought about how cutely he insisted that she was the most beautiful woman in this world.
If he had not been such a troublemaker after being drunk, she would have considered making him drunk more often in the future just to extort praise from him, even if he did not mean them.
Daisy observed her expressions for a moment and smiled softly.
Diana believed Daisy was more capable than her in a lot of aspects. But Daisy believed that Diana was much more capable than her in certain things.
For one, she was better at judging people. Diana might not realize it but the people she trusted were worth her trust. She might come across as a soft person, but she did not let people in easily.
Amongst the socialites, Daisy has heard every woman referring to themselves as Diana’s friend. But at the same time, she knew that Diana did not consider any of them as her friend. She laughed with them, talked and socialized with them whenever there was a need but she would always draw a discreet line.
Diana could see through people in a better way even though she never acted on it. Even with their parents, she knew what kind of person their mother could be but the reason she was always restrained was that she was an emotional person. And their mother knew which buttons to push to get the desired reaction.
Moreover, regarding Ivy, Daisy was initially a bit wary but eventually, she made her observations. It has been over a month since Diana was here and if Ivy had an ulterior motive, she would have already acted on it by now.
But she did not seem to be that kind of person.
While both the sisters were immersed in their own thoughts, Ivy left the door to the Master bedroom open and walked towards them.
’’Is she asleep?" Daisy looked at her.
Ivy nodded, ’’She is snoring already.’’
Diana snapped out of her reverie and glanced at the both of them, ’’How was your day with Angel?" she asked Daisy.
Ivy was a bit confused. When Diana revealed that Angel was her sister’s daughter, she had not mentioned much about her father. So she assumed that the man was not a decent father.
But looking at Dexter and the way he was being treated by Diana, she could say that they were pretty close. And although Dexter came off as a cold person, who did not talk too much but Ivy noticed how he accompanied Angel throughout the day until he left in the evening to pick Diana up.
Throughout the day, Dexter did everything for Angel, from feeding her to bathing her and cleaning her even though he seemed quite clumsy at it.
But even though Ivy was quite puzzled about the equations, she did not express it. People had things that they did not want to talk about for various reasons.
Daisy, on the other hand, glanced at Diana and nodded, ’’It was fine. But I don’t mind if things take time.’’
She was aware that she had missed the initial months of Angel’s life but since she was here, she would try her best to make up for it. And what relieved her more was that during her absence, it was Diana who had been with Angel.
She was not accustomed to many things yet but it was fine. With Diana and Angel around, she believed she would get used to this life pretty soon.
Diana smiled and nodded before she turned to look at Ivy who seemed to be contemplating something.
’’Dee, I had never seen Sir in such a condition before...’’
’’Trust me. Neither had I,’’ Diana shook her head.
Ivy did not know how to respond to that. She felt like she read their relationship wrong at first but now that she was seeing it, their chemistry was something different.
After all, sir was quite different around Dee.
Yet, Ivy knew that if she expressed her thoughts aloud, Diana might end up thinking she was cracking a joke. She was usually a smart person but on this front, she was pretty slow or probably pretending to be slow.
While they were chatting, the door to the guest bedroom opened and Maxim stepped out while unbuttoning his black shirt.
The three women turned to look at him.
He threw his shirt to the couch in the living room and made his way towards Diana, his footsteps were unstable.
Her gaze only remained on his face for a split second before drifting to his body on instinct.
Diana’s jaw dropped. Those abs... She gulped.
He had freaking 8 packs. And what his usually strict formal outfits did not show was his toned body hidden beneath. With his shirt gone, even his V-line...
’Look up. Look up. Look up. He is drunk, not you!’ her inner voice snapped and snapped but she could not care less, ’Remember all the etiquette classes you have been through. Think of the wrinkles your mother would have had by frowning if she saw you being this lusty. Look up—’
Diana wanted to look up too. But she just couldn’t.
Her eyes... They were getting pregnant!
Oh Lord, why was he torturing her like this?
She licked her bottom lips as he stood in front of her. But her eyes did not budge. Her fingers twitched violently. Should she get a feel of how it felt since she was curious?
She ran around after him for so long so he shouldn’t mind if she poked around a bit, right? That was the tip she deserved, right right?
While she was in her dreamland, Daisy and Ivy were going through different feelings.
Daisy was a bit startled when she saw Maxim. She had knocked him out. He should have dropped for a few hours peacefully. Why was he awake? Just how thick-skinned was he to be able to cling to her sister even in such a situation?
Ivy on the other hand had her eyes on the verge of bulging out of the sockets. She looked around and immediately grabbed the plush white carpet from the floor before draping it over Maxim, breaking Diana’s line of vision.
Ivy knew Maxim well enough to know that he would not have let this happen to himself had he been conscious. She had to protect his reputation.
If he woke up and remembered this incident, he would be too ashamed to go out of his home.
But with her timely help, she would be getting some bonuses for her immediate actions.
Hmm, if he did not remember what happened just now then she could tell him. Ivy thought about the latest advanced game console on the market and her eyes started shimmering.
The three women had different thoughts ranging in their heads.
But Ivy’s actions blocked the sight Diana’s eyes were feasting on. She gave a light cough and looked at Maxim’s face, ’’What’s wrong?" When she looked at him, she realized that he was standing there quietly with a complaining expression on his face.
When he heard her, he opened his mouth to speak but closed it.
Diana was about to coax him a bit when she saw how upset he seemed but Daisy’s glare was burning her back so she stayed put.
Maxim spoke up in the next moment, without needing to be coaxed.
’’You sleep with me.’’
’’_"
"Then, you leave me alone in the bed.’’
"_"
’’How heartless are you!"
"_"
Diana could dig a hole somewhere and jump into it at this point, ’’What are you talking about?" her voice came out rather weak.
They did have a conversation regarding sleeping with each other but that was that. Why was she accused of being a scoundrel when she did not even get to eat the sweet?
He was even making her sound like the bad guy here.
’’You promised... mmmmm...’’
Diana slammed her palm on his mouth. Even though he was being muddleheaded by alcohol, he might spout a few truths if she let him continue speaking.
So this was for the best.
Silence him before he caused further trouble!
Both Ivy and Daisy were looking at her suspiciously.
’’Dee...’’ Ivy seemed rather disappointed, ’’You are harsh...’’ she sighed.
"_"
Diana’s eyelids twitched violently. She was harsh. Was she harsh? He was the one singing ’No and no and no’ day in and day out and now she was harsh?
But she could not even cry out her grievances for fear of exposing herself.
She looked at her sister, hoping for some trust.
Daisy looked at both of them before looking at her with raised brows, ’’Told you to figure it out but not like this. You went too far.’’
’’You both were here when we stuffed him into the room. What are you talking about?" Diana glared at them.
She did not mind being accused but she had to be accused after she reaped some benefits. Why was she being cornered dry and high?
’’Dee, sir is an honest person,’’ Ivy spoke in a meek voice, ’’He did not mention the time and day but since he said it, you must have traumatized him.’’
Diana was so angry that she laughed. She dragged Maxim with her, ’’Come with me.’’
Maxim obediently followed her like a puppy.
Ivy burst into laughter, raising her hand for a high five but when she saw Dexter’s cold face, she was about to take it back.
Daisy looked at her enthusiastic face and gave her hand a slight tap.
Ivy was startled as she blushed a little. Sigh, Angel’s father was too good-looking for the women population. His mother certainly was a woman of great taste.
She patted her chest mentally. Luckily, ice cubes were not her type or things would have been hard on her.
’’Dex, I will take the soup to them,’’ Ivy was back to being enthusiastic.
Daisy did not refuse it, ’’I will go to Angel.’’
Ivy nodded.
