Crashing into an Old Flame
Chapter 166: She is beautiful

Chapter 166: She is beautiful

Once Ivy was gone, Daisy stepped inside the room, her gaze remained fixated on the small bump on the bed.

She slowly looked up and saw the little girl’s peacefully sleeping face, "Angel..." the word rolled off her tongue effortlessly and it sounded foreign to her ears but she could feel the warmth surging in her heart.

"Did you name her before?" Diana asked.

Daisy shook her head, "I wanted to run away with her, far away from our world yet I almost lost her. And.. I had always wanted you to name her.’’

Diana stopped walking and watched Daisy’s back as she made her way towards the bed.

Her footsteps no longer were as powerful as before. No longer did she appear domineering like she was with Maxim and Ryle at the airport.

Daisy sat on the bed and glanced at Angel cautiously as if her gaze could somehow manage to harm the little girl, and all Diana could see was a delicate woman who was on the verge of a breakdown.

Daisy raised a trembling finger towards Angel’s face. Hesitation crossed her face.

Just as she was about to pull her hand back, Diana held her palm and placed it on Angel’s cheeks.

Daisy bit her bottom lips as she felt the soft skin under her fingers that were calloused from holding the gun.

"She is beautiful..." Daisy mumbled unconsciously.

"She has taken after me."

Daisy chuckled, "Yes."

Daisy leaned closer to Angel and kissed her forehead softly before she pushed herself to her feet. The gentle expression on her face disappeared like an illusion within an instant, "Tell me everything they put you through. I want to know every single detail."

Diana sighed. She had wanted to give her a breather but knowing Daisy, she would not like to be kept in the dark.

Moreover, she had things that she wanted to ask her too.

So, this conversation was inevitable.

Diana led Daisy towards the couch in the room, "After you disappeared from the wedding..."

By the time she finished narrating all the incidents that occurred since that day, she was expecting Daisy to lose her calm.

But Daisy seemed unbothered as she sat on the other end of the couch, deep in her thoughts.

"Daisy..."

Diana patted her hand as she inched closer to her, "Are you fine?" Why did she look so unaffected knowing that their parents wanted to discard Angel to some random place?

"Si Yena."

"What about her?" Diana straightened up on the couch. Si Yena might be Daisy’s best friend growing up but Diana never liked that woman.

When they were young, she would come to their mansion and often mess around with her things. And when Daisy came, she would make it seem like they were just having fun.

Since Daisy and Diana grew up in separate places, they lacked understanding when they were young.

Diana was quick in avoiding her problems and Daisy easily lost her temper. Although they got along well, but whenever they argued, they went on avoiding each other for months.

If it was not their mother’s actions that made them fight, it would be that white lotus, Si Yena.

But since she seemed like a genuine friend to Daisy, Diana never said a word about how she felt about her.

Diana was used to being without a friend. But she never wanted Daisy to go through that.

Once she started living in Los Angeles, she went back home occasionally and encountered Si Yena on rare occasions so she gradually got used to her existence.

But Daisy mentioning her name during this conversation made Diana uneasy. She did not have a good feeling about it.

"Si Yena was the one who sent her to the orphanage," Daisy looked at the girl who was sleeping on the bed peacefully, "I entrusted Angel to her. After dealing with that marriage, I wanted to take her away from Beijing. To some other place or another country where I could start over with a new identity and give her a childhood that we never had. But in my pursuit, I almost ruined Angel’s life."

Diana was stunned.

Looking at her sister’s expressionless face, she did not know what to say. Si Yena was her best friend.

If Maxim betrayed her in such a manner, how would she feel?

Diana felt her insides churning just at the thought of it. Then, Daisy must be feeling terrible.

Diana sighed.

Luckily, she had better taste in people than Daisy. It was a sin to compare Maxim with anyone else, wasn’t it? That adorable man was far from playing games with her.

"Why are you smiling like an idiot?" Daisy narrowed her eyes.

Diana squeezed her cheeks with her finger, "Facial exercise," she smiled three more times.

Daisy looked at her suspiciously.

Diana cleared her throat, "When we were young, I told you that Si Yena was a snaky person. Who told you to not trust me?"

"You said that because she broke your doll and you were holding a grudge over that."

Diana fell speechless. She didn’t expect Daisy to have seen through her back then.

"But so what? Breaking a doll reveals a lot about a person’s character, doesn’t it? If it was Warner who broke something precious to me, he would try his best to compensate for it or apologize. In fact, he would get me something better...." She trailed off when Daisy looked at her quietly.

"Warner this, Warner that. Have you been bewitched by him?" Daisy raised an eyebrow, "Are you both dating finally?"

"What? Are you crazy?" Diana pushed herself to her feet but sat back down immediately when she remembered that Angel was sleeping, "I am just happy that you are here. Why are you misunderstanding me?"

"Am I misunderstanding though?" Daisy peeked at the exposed hickeys on her neck.

"_" Diana tugged her hair forward, wondering why she had short hair in the first place. The female main characters would never face such troubles with their long dark hair.

Daisy smiled at her antics but the smile on her face gradually turned stiff, "Yena said that I have been insensitive towards her," she leaned back on the couch and glanced at the ceiling.

Diana frowned, "Do you want a drink or two to forget about that snake?"

"Stop frowning. Say what’s on your mind," Daisy tilted her head to the side and looked at her.

"Even if you were insensitive towards her, she had no right to do what she did to Angel," Diana felt furious just at the thought of it, "I don’t think you ever treated her badly. You have always been good to her. When she had her first breakup, when she got a beating for her bad grades, when she was caught cheating in school and in many of her lows, you stood by her side even when you got scolded at home. Now that I see it, was it worth it for you to do all that for someone so worthless?"

Daisy glanced at Diana, her lips parting slightly, "You remember it all?" Even she did not have a recollection of these silly things from the past.

"Of course, I do. Now that we are grown up, those things seem childish but back then, it was hard on you. Yet you never complained. I knew you cared for her so I never drove a wedge between you two."

Looking at the exaggerated villainous expression on Diana’s face, Daisy could not help but laugh, "Drive a wedge? Who do you think you are?"

"The evil younger sister. I could have jumped into the pool and cried saying that Si Yena pushed me. It’s a common plot in novels but did I do that?"

"Enough already. I am not upset anymore," Daisy sighed at her silly jokes.

Diana smiled and held her hand, "You can’t take her words to heart. It’s her fault that she was blinded by jealousy. And it’s absolutely her loss that she lost a friend like you."

"Jealousy?"

Diana nodded, "One of her boyfriends liked you. Her friends flocked around you most of the time. You outshined her in studies and stole her limelight.."

"And how would you know all that?" Daisy remembered that the last time when she met Si Yena in that orphanage, the woman had said something similar but she was not in the right mind frame to think about.

She had no idea about the incidents mentioned by Diana either.

"Along the years, whenever there were parties at the mansion, you took the corner seat while I was in the center, socializing with them together with our mother. So, of course, I would know these gossips. I saw the way her friends crowded you and her boyfriend looked at you. I can figure out the rest by myself," Diana shrugged.

Daisy did not know what to say. She had seen Diana obediently following their mother around at those parties but she never thought that the most obedient daughter of the Chens was so observant about such things, "You have been sneaky."
