Upon seeing his reaction, Diana tilted her chin down to look at herself and her jaws dropped, ’’I...’’ she looked back at him, ’’This is all I got from Hazel’s closet. The rest of the doors were locked,’’ she promptly explained.

As much as she wanted to get him into her bed, she did not want to come off as aggressive. After all, what if it scared him away?

Maxim’s lips thinned. How was he not surprised to know that his mother was behind this?

If not for Logan’s confirmation and the pictures that his mother sent some time ago after landing in Seattle, he would have believed that it was her ploy to lock him together with Diana here.

But then again, knowing her nature, she must be trying to hit two birds with one stone. On one hand, she went on a date to enjoy herself and on the other hand, she locked him with Diana in the hopes of getting them together.

Only if his mother was born in ancient China then she would have led a harem full of women and even men by the nose with such shrewdness of hers. A pity.

’’Wear the robe,’’ Maxim released her hand and pointed at the bathrobe that was lying on the bed.

Diana glanced at the robe before she looked up at him, ’’I don’t want to.’’

Diana stepped towards them, almost closing the distance between them as she smiled, ’’You see, it is weird for me to wear a robe over the nightgown when I am about to go to sleep. I thought you left already. Who knew you would show your face again?" she rolled her eyes before adding, ’’On a second note, this is such a beautiful outfit. I can’t mess with it by putting a robe on it. Moreover, I am decent, covered from head to toe. The remaining outfits there were more outrageous...’’ she trailed off and cleared her throat when he narrowed his eyes.

Maxim massaged his forehead. As she said, she was covered from head to toe, she was decent but his imagination was not. Watching her standing there in a lacy nightgown, he was better off dead.

Maxim grabbed her wrist and walked towards his study before he pulled out a chair for her, ’’Sit.’’

Diana glanced at the hairdryer in his hand before she quietly sat on the chair, ’’You left the room to make food?"

’’You dozed off earlier this night and then...’’ we ended up ignoring each other for some time after we made out.

’’And then?" she asked in a teasing voice as he ran his fingers through her hair, drying them slowly.

’’Then, I realized that we have yet to eat anything so I made prepared a few things. Just make do with it for now.’’

Her fingers wrapped around his wrist and his movements paused.

Maxim turned off the hairdryer and glanced at her.

Diana tilted her head as she met his gaze, her eyes seemed to be a little sad.

The crafty look from earlier was nowhere to be seen as she spoke up, ’’I don’t know why you always make it sound like the food you get for me or make for me is mediocre,’’ she sighed, ’’...When in truth, I have had the best meals of my life with you. You know, I eat to my heart’s content and I am the happiest person ever alive when you make something for me?’’

The corner of his lips tugged up slightly as he raised his hand and ruffled her air, ’’Is it?"

He went back to dry her hair, ’’I think you will eventually get bored of it.’’

His hand paused. Maxim’s fingers curled tighter around the hairdryer, ’’And why is that?"

’’Do I need to have a reason for that too?" she looked up at him again.

He turned off the hairdryer again, ’’Do you want me to blow your hair into your face? Can’t you sit still?"

She pouted, ’’I just wanted to answer your question.’’

’’Then tell me, why?" Maxim looked at her expectantly.

Diana blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice.

And then she shrugged, ’’Just because it’s you?" she looked at him quietly for a moment before adding, ’’I don’t know the reason and all that. But I just know that anything in this world can bore me except you. You...’’ she drew some weird circles and arcs in the air as if she was solving some complicated equation.

’’You are my favorite person. I am so fond of you. How can I get bored of something I hold so dear to me?" she glared at him as if she was accusing him of making her speak so much.

Maxim looked at her helplessly even as he felt something stirring in the bottom of his heart, ’’I get it,’’ When she smiled at him, he grabbed her head and turned it around so that she was no longer looking at him, ’’Now sit still and let me dry your hair properly. I don’t want you to be sick again.’’

’’Warner,’’ she called out when he started drying her hair.

’’Hmm?"

Maxim lowered the speed of the dryer just as she started speaking.

’’Coming to think of it, this should be the first time someone is drying my hair like this. The servants had done this before but this is their job and they are paid for it so it doesn’t count,’’ Diana glanced at her hands lying on her lap, ’’The people in my life never had the leisure to do something like this.’’

Maxim looked at her quietly for a few seconds before he continued drying her hair.

Diana sighed.

Just when she thought that he would not comment on it, he opened his mouth.

’’Feel free to call me over to your place whenever you wash your hair,’’ he said in that calm tone as if he was discussing some patient’s information.

Her eyes brightened, ’’Are you going to do anything I ask you to?"

’’Mhm.’’

’’Aren’t you afraid of being taken advantage of?" she asked.

’’You can take advantage of me. I don’t mind.’’

She grabbed his hand and pushed herself to her feet before she turned to look at him.

The hot air blew on her face and he quickly turned the hairdryer off before he placed it on the table.

’’I don’t want to take advantage of you, but...’’ she stood on her tiptoes and whispered beside his ear, ’’I don’t mind if you let me take advantage of your body.’’

Maxim’s gaze drifted to her lips for a moment before he looked back into her eyes and shook his head.

’’Give me a reason,’’ When he just stared at her quietly, she added, ’’If you can’t give me a reason, let’s sit here together till you start considering my offer.’’

’’What you want, in simple words, is a one-night stand. I am not interested in it.’’

’’I am very much interested in it though. Why are you not? And why do you have to make it sound like it is something sinful?" she glared at him defensively, ’’You are the only man I am this close to.’’

His eyes darkened, ’’You want me to agree to it? What happens after it’s done and dusted? We go back to being friends? Do you think we can get back to how we are right now?’’

’’I don’t see why not,’’ she crossed her arms in front of her chest, ’’We are adults. Anything we do, will happen with our consent. The next day, we can forget it all and be back to how we are. As simple as that.’’

The corner of his lips twitched, ’’A pity because I don’t befriend the women I sleep with.’’
