Chapter 121: The Diana in that diary
’’It’s not troublesome,’’ What was truly troublesome was the heat that her innocent thank you kisses were spreading throughout his body lately. He did not tell that to her.
By the time Diana walked out of the shower, she was greeted by the sight of an empty bed.
No Angel in sight.
Before panic could settle inside her chest, her gaze drifted off towards the cup on the bedside table which had a note sticking to it.
She walked towards it and picked up the note.
’DON’T PANIC’ were the words written in capital letters which were followed by Maxim’s cursive handwriting, ’This little troublemaker woke up so I am taking her with me. We will be back soon. Heat the tea in case it has gone cold when you see it.’
After reading the note, Diana glanced at her towel-clad body and felt relieved.
Inside the bathroom, she had considered washing her clothes and wearing them just like that before stepping out.
Thinking back to clothes, she realized that she had not reminded him of everything he needed to bring for her.
Diana slid down to the floor and banged her head on the soft mattress of the bed.
Why was today proving itself to be so challenging?
She grabbed her phone to call him but hesitated.
He must be driving right now.
She grabbed the cup of tea, making a mental note to call him later.
...
Maxim was holding Angel on his lap as he drove carefully. The girl fiddled with his shirt and played with the tissue box that he had handed her.
He parked the car in front of Ryle’s mansion.
When he stepped inside the mansion, Ivy was loitering around in the kitchen.
Maxim’s footsteps slowed down.
Ivy raised her head when she felt his presence but her eyes were as wide as saucers, "I didn’t lie. I was really busy with something. I just came back," she hurriedly said.
Maxim glanced at Angel as he pulled the girl up.
Angel glanced back at him with animated wide eyes.
"I am sorry," He kissed the girl’s head as he whispered in her ear, "But we should let her rest a bit, don’t you think?"
"Lew...ma..." Angel spouted some more gibberish before she licked Maxim’s shirt.
"I will take that as a yes," Maxim whispered before he strode towards Ivy and handed the girl to her without warning.
Ivy was speechless, "Yo sir, what do you think about doubling my salary? Look at me working so hard as a cow?" She coddled Angel in her arms. She loved the little girl and it was a delight to get to spend time with her but she had her opportunistic moments too.
"If you need help, call Logan," Maxim said calmly before he strode towards Diana’s room.
Standing in front of Diana’s wardrobe with a pile of clothes kissing his feet, he found another challenge of the day.
His fingers itched to flip the whole thing down.
He thought Ryle’s place would be the messiest thing he would encounter but standing in front of Diana’s wardrobe, Ryle’s mansion appeared like a church in comparison.
He inhaled a deep breath to suppress the clean freak inside him as he grabbed a black dress, a white, a yellow.....
And then he paused when his gaze roamed over the nightdresses.
Should he grab some from them too?
Not sure about what she preferred, he pulled a nightsuit out from the mess, tugging something else along with it accidentally.
’Bam’
Maxim glanced at Diana’s black bag that had fallen with its content spread on the floor.
He placed the clothes on the bed and walked back to the wardrobe.
Just as he was about to grab the notepads and push them into the bag, his fingers grazed across the smooth leather surface of a black diary.
Maxim glanced at the diary for a moment before he picked it up.
He was about to put it inside the bag when his gaze landed on the pin code system on the diary and a distant, somewhat whining voice ran in his head.
’I forgot my phone password again and it won’t even recognize me just because I have died my hair black. Who does this, Warner? What am I going to do now?’
Maxim had looked at the girl who seemed to be on the verge of blasting. He laughed, ’Just wait until your hair goes back to its original form.’
’Are you kidding me? Even if this look is temporary, it’s going to last for at least 6-7 months,’ Diana had glared at him, ’I have decided.’
’Decided what?’
’From now on, all my passwords are going to be the same. My birth date—0017.’
Maxim had looked at her speechlessly, ’You told me all your future passwords.’
’So what? I trust you,’ Diana had rolled her eyes, ’If something ever happens to me, I want you to dispose of anything that might reveal confidential parts of my life.’
’Shut up.’
As Maxim glanced at the pin code system of the diary, the old memories kept rushing in his head.
He sat on the floor and leaned back on the wardrobe.
Thinking back to that time, he had been angry when she talked nonsense about something bad happening to her.
But at the same time, his heart had skipped a beat when she said that she trusted him.
Did she still trust him though?
Or did she find other ways to memorize her passwords now?
Curiosity got the best of him and he punched the numbers.
’Click’
The pages opened like they were attached to a string and an ever-so-familiar handwriting greeted his view.
Something stirred in his heart. Still the same password. The same trust.
Did she ever fear that he will abuse this trust of hers?
But then again, could he bring himself to?
She was the last person he would ever be able to hurt and maybe she knew it just like he did.
His long fingers stopped the pages from fluttering in the wind and he was about to close the diary, despite the pressing feeling to read, to get to know the Diana whom she hid in these pages.
