Chapter 27: Shopping!

Shopping isn’t really for the weak, Lin wei mused absently.

Her knees were cranky, tightly fitted into the jeans as they were. Apparently there exist some fundamental rules for shopping right.

"Now, for the bags. Remember, leather is always the first options that should be considered." Bai yue was raving off about this or that.

Lin wei nodded mutely as expected of her. She stopped listening a long time ago, fantasizing about her bed, rubbing miss meowgly’s back and being rewarded with an haughty meow.

Good old days.

Lin wei noticed the staffs were scurrying about, darting this way and that. Her surprised was sparked once again when she noticeda rounded man mopping his brow.

"The pastel color, you fool! The pastel pink for God’s sake." He moaned.

Why was everybody in this state of stress? She exchanged a look with Bai yue who shrugged wordlessly.

"Excuse me?" She asked a smartly dressed woman whose arms were piled with clothes.

"Yes ma’am?" She answered crisply, no doubt annoyed at being stopped by lesser customers.

"What’s going on?" Inquired Lin wei.

"What do you mean ma’am?" She asked stolidly. Making Lin wei was her brows suggestively.

Really, she was starting to piss her off.

"The running helter skelter pants on fire?"

"Oh that." The staff frowned.

"The Boss’s sister is coming here today. You can say, she’s a bit picky with her stuff. And she’s to have the best."

Seemingly thinking their curiousity sated, the woman set about her own way. Lin wei wondered about how it must be. Being the sister of such a big shot that you’re being waited on hands and legs?

Even before your arrival? That was something.

Bai yue continue perusing the bag, stuck between choosing two bags. She was murmuring to herself.

Lin wei stood to a side, praying to whichever god would listen to help make up Bai yue’s mind before she drop dead from lack of caffeine.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and tense anticipation when the door opened to admit the most gorgeous woman Lin wei had ever set her eyes on.

"Wow." She murmured.

This woman carried herself like a Queen. Her haughty eyes surveyed the rows and rows of clothes and bag.

"Where’s the manager?" She asked softly.

Silence.

"You!" She pointed a manicured finger at Lin wei.

Lin wei looked around for some kind of conviction and came up short. Bai yue in her shopping induced trance had wandered deeper into the rows of salacious dresses, leaving Lin wei standing and staring.

"Are you a fool? No basic manner? Get me your manager! And a refreshing glass of lemonade." She demanded.

Lin wei wanted to smack her across that gorgeous face. But remembering the jail that was still beckoning, she smiled instead.

"I’m a customer like yourself. It would seem the manager step out for some fresh air." That wasn’t so hard to believe.

One would need constant replenishing of fresh air after staying a minute with this woman. The oppressive air around her fairly shimmered.

The lady look genuinely confused. The face of someone who wasn’t used to getting told "no". A word that wasn’t in her dictionary.

"Get him for me." She repeated.

Lin wei puffed a breath.

"What’s inside your ears?" She asked loudly.

The lady looked around in confusion. She touched her ears.

"There’s nothing inside my ears. But I’ve got twenty four carat diamond earrings on." She announced proudly.

Lin wei pitied the dull chit. No sense, just cotton wool up there for a brain.

Really. Where was Bai yue when she needed her the most.

Lin wei sucked in a breath and thought it was probably better to fetch the manager. An act of service for humanity.

She went back into the rows of offices to look for the manager. She found the manager having something close to a panic attack.

His chest heaved up and down as he dragged in lungful after lungful of air.

The bald patch on his head was glittering with sweat.

"Mr manager?" She called out tentatively.

The man startled, clutching his chest.

"Are you okay?" She inquired softly. Her eyes found the water dispenser nestled in a corner and she hurried there.

She got a cup of water for the manager who took it gratefully.

"Your boss’s sister is in there, waiting for you." She jerked her thumb in that direction.

"Oh God." He murmured faintly.

What was going on? Could the manager be scared of that dull chit?

"I just thought I’d let you know. There’s no one there, an unfortunate development. As she took me for one of your staff. You’d better show yourself to her before she went ballistic." She pat the man on the back.

She turned to leave but heard the sharp intake of breath.

"I need your help." He choked out.

Minutes later, Lin wei was sporting a shirt much larger than her, tucked into the rolled up trouser with a tag where "manager" was written boldly.

Time to confront the hussy. Lin wei puffed a breath. Who would have thought a single act of service for the universe, would turn into a thousand more?

This ought to count as a thousand.

Lin wei was first hand familiar with disastrous situation. But none was topping this. That was life.

Yesterday, she’d consoled herself with the thought that tomorrow would be better than yesterday.

She lied. Today wasn’t better. It was worse.

Way much worse.

Maybe she’ll be caught impersonating a sales manager in a shopping mall. Where she was shopping for the clothes to get ready to be impersonating a beautiful young woman named "Victoria Wang."

She held the door kn

ob, once wondering if she wasn’t making a huge mistake.

What was another mistake added to the ever growing lists of her deadly mistakes?

She opened the door, ready to another one to them
