Conquering His Cold Heart
Chapter 463 - 463: Helping Hands

Hamilton smiled ear to ear at Caspian before inviting himself inside Caspian's study and taking a seat on the sofa.

"What is it?" Caspian asked with a voice that was laced with a usual hint of rudeness whenever he talked with Hamilton.

Hamilton was already used to being treated with discourtesy. So, without giving any attention to the tone of Caspian's voice, he got straight down to business.

"I don't know how much of what I said yesterday went inside your head. But as I said, the offer still stands. I will help you in any way I can. Do you have any task in mind for me?"

Caspian's irritation instantly vanished when he heard that.

He thought for a while and then without any hesitation, he requested Hamilton, "You are more in touch with the outer world than any of us in this Kingdom. You were talking about technologies and discoveries. So, can you find out if there are any of those things that can help Anastasia?"

The corners of Hamilton's lips slowly curved upwards. There was no ego or boastfulness in his eyes. He was just happy to learn that Caspian had still not completely given up on his wife, no matter what he said yesterday.

Hamilton didn't delay in agreeing with Caspian's request. "For sure."

He pinched his chin and narrowed his eyes as he further began to mumble, "From my centuries of experience of traveling around the world, I know that Lavinya is very forward in such advancements. I might just find some clues there."

"Lavinya huh…" Caspian knitted his brows together as if he was in disagreement with Hamilton. "Anastasia's brother spent most of his life there. If there was any solution there then I am sure that he would have come across it by now."

Hamilton was also not a hundred percent sure that he could indeed find something there. He was simply willing to give it a try to lend hands to his cousin.

"I will visit as many places as I can. Surely I can find something of importance in some corner of the world," Hamilton tried to boost up Caspian's already draining morale.

Something suddenly struck Caspian's mind as if some nerves in his brain suddenly connected to spark a light in his head.

He abruptly got up from his seat and then rushed out of his room without saying a word to Hamilton.

Hamilton watched Caspian rushing out of the study in a confused manner. 'Where is he going?'

He sighed and shook his head before slipping his hand into his coat pocket. He pulled out a neatly folded paper from his pocket and then thought to himself, 'I think I should let Caspian know about this before I leave.'

Caspian, on the other hand, went straight to find his guards who he had ordered not to follow him around and stay put in the throne hall.

"Henry!" He called as soon as one of his guards was in sight.

Henry quickly rushed outside the throne hall to meet the King halfway in the corridor. He bowed his head and asked, "Your Majesty, did you need something?"

Without missing a beat, Caspian nodded and asked, "Henry, do you remember that doctor who checked the Queen when she fell sick as we were returning from Xanmar?"

"Yes, Your Majesty," Henry replied.

Caspian then quickly ordered, "Infiltrate Xanmar and bring that doctor here. Along with all of his equipment and medicine and anything that he uses to treat his patient."

Without any hesitation, Henry bowed his head and said, "As you wish, Your Majesty."

"Leave right away. Ask the treasurer for the funds."

After giving out the order, Caspian didn't even bother to step inside the throne hall where the ministers and officials had been waiting for him since the morning. In fact, his mind was so occupied by all sorts of thoughts that he didn't even notice they were waiting.

Thus, he quickly made his way back to his study where his cousin was still waiting for him.

Caspian stood in front of Hamilton and asked, "If you require anything for your journey, you can ask. I will provide you with anything that you need."

Hamilton simply shook his head and said, "I have everything that I need. Just keep on checking on my mother every once in a while. She gets bored easily. I will also ask her to visit the Queen every once in a while so that they can keep each other's company."

Caspian nodded his head in agreement. Though he didn't say anything, in his heart, he was very thankful to Hamilton.

"Okay, then." Caspian heaved a sigh and asked in a somewhat restless manner, "When are you planning to leave?"

Hamilton understood why Caspian was desperate to see him leave. So, he got up from the sofa and said, "I will immediately make preparations to leave. The moment I find something or someone that might be of use, I will immediately contact you."

Caspian pressed his lips together and looked down as he nodded.

Hamilton looked at the door and then looked back at Caspian.

Caspian realized that Hamilton wanted to say something more to him. So, he looked at his cousin and inquired, "You have something to say to me? If you want something just ask without hesitating."

Hamilton took a deep breath and put his hand inside his pocket. But before taking out that paper in his pocket, he first said with all seriousness, "Caspian, I was thinking of bringing this up to you after I found some concrete hints. But seeing how you are acting out right now, I am afraid that you might get angry with me for hiding it."

Caspian's brows instantly twitched and he immediately asked in a harsh manner, "What are you hiding?"

Hamilton quickly flashed the paper before Caspian's eyes and blurted, "I found this a few months ago on my trip to Lavinya."

Caspian frowned and focused his eyes on the paper. There were a few sentences scribbled on that paper that didn't make much sense.

"Am I supposed to make some sense out of it?" he asked in an irritated manner.

Hamilton shook the paper and said enthusiastically, "Don't you recognize the handwriting? Look more carefully!"

Caspian's eyes suddenly widened and he felt a sharp pain running down his chest when he finally recognized the handwriting on the paper.

And a very weak voice full of emotion escaped his trembling lips, "Percival?"
