Chapter 203: Chimaera Vs. Chimaera (1)

The door opened, but the trio wasn’t prepared for what they saw next. The place was filled with hanging organs from various monsters and even some humans. As if that wasn’t enough, even the floor was littered with corpses.

The chamber looked more like a corpse assembly workshop than a dungeon’s boss room. Amelia, sensitive to the smell of decay and chemicals, pinched her nose.

Sophia reacted similarly, but for Adrian, the smell wasn’t problematic. It was the scenario, and it felt like he was living through a nightmare.

He didn’t have any doubt what the place was. It was an operating room—one where chimaeras like him were made. Adrian curled his hand into fists, his fingers digging into his palm as the buried memories resurfaced.

However, before they could step further, their eyes fell on a massive giant-like goblin standing in the middle of the room with his back turned towards them.

The goblin’s body was full of stitches and patched skin, just like Adrian once was. There was no mistaking it. They were facing not just a goblin lord but a chimaera, a creature like Adrian.

[Defeat the dungeon boss: Crazed Goblin Lord and his Chimaera army.]

Noticing the intruders, the goblin lord turned around to face them with his bloodied hands. Judging from the pale colour of his skin, it seemed the Goblin Lord hadn’t seen the sun for a while.

His pristine skin and grotesque-looking thin fingers made it look like a shinigami from hell. The goblin had even bandaged his eyes and appeared to have operated on himself.

’Nah, with that spiky hair, bandaged eyes and pale skin, it looks more like Gojo on goblin steroids.’

"Isn’t this ridiculous," the goblin snarled, shaking his head. "I gave those bastards all that power and free reign to do as they please. Yet they couldn’t stop intruders from disturbing me?"

The Goblin lord was pissed and tore off his apron, retrieving a cleaver lying next to it. But he stopped to think for a moment.

"Hmm... I have been lacking proper vessels to experiment with," the goblin lord mumbled, scratching his chin. "You humans will be the perfect vessel for what I had planned."

"Sure... In your dreams!" Adrian snarled, taking a peek into the Chinaera’s stats.

Suddenly, the entire room shook, and countless concealed doors opened, revealing an army of chimaeras. Some looked human, while others resembled goblins, but they all looked hideous.

For a moment, Adrian felt respect for Victor as he didn’t screw him up like the goblin had screwed up his creatures. But only for a moment.

"Sophia... make it rain again?" Amelia whispered, watching the hundreds of chimaera’s filling the room.

"Ever heard about a little thing called cooldown?" Sophia urged back. "We need to get out of here!"

"...just get back," Adrian mumbled, taking Amelia’s dagger from her. "Sophia, prepare a wind spell if you can, but stay behind me and close your eyes."

Sophia nodded and began chanting. Once she started, so did Adrian and sliced his arms in several places. Amelia didn’t know what Adrian had planned but trusted him.

Roughly ten seconds later, a cool breeze swept across the room, and it was when Adrian turned his blood into [Blood Mist]. The wind carried the mist forward, ensuring no harm came to the girls.

On the other hand, the chimaeras began to fall one after another like flies. The Goblin Lord couldn’t believe his eyes.

The chimaeras he had poured his blood and sweat over were gone just like that. Years of work went down the drain in a matter of seconds.

"How... dare you!" it shrieked before disappearing and reappearing behind Adrian. "I’ll tear you to pieces."

The beast let out a guttural roar, disappearing from their sight. Adrian realised the danger and pushed the girls away, only to find the crazed goblin lord standing before him.

Adrian barely had time to react before the goblin lord’s wiry arms encircled him in a bone-crushing bear hug.

He could feel the creature’s nasty breath against his neck as it whispered in his ear, "No one has ever survived this attack, human. You are no exception!"

"Adrian!" Sophia yelled and was about to attack alongside Amelia when Adrian shook his head, stopping them in their tracks.

"Stay back," he warned them. "I’ll deal with this budget Gojo. You two take care of the remaining chimaeras."

As his words echoed in the chamber, the girls realised that the mist Adrian had created had disappeared, so they remained safe. Consequently, several chimaeras were spared.

Reluctantly, the girls nodded, understanding the urgency of the situation. They turned and sprinted off to deal with the artificial beasts, leaving Adrian to face the goblin lord alone.

"You don’t need to worry about them," The goblin lord tightened his grip, malicious laughter echoing through the chamber. "Like I said, no human has ever left this room alive-"

"That’s where you’re wrong," Adrian smiled, slowly fading away from under the creature’s grasp. "I’m no human."
