Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer
Chapter 184: You Naughty, Naughty (2)

Chapter 184: You Naughty, Naughty (2)

The creaky doors groaned in protest as Adrian pushed them open. Dust and cobwebs filled the air, and everything smelled old and rotten.

The place was dark, with sunlight sneaking in through holes in the boarded-up windows and the cracked ceiling. Trash was scattered around, leftovers from when the place was functional.

However, something else caught Adrian’s eye: monster blood. It wasn’t fresh, and if Adrian had to guess, the rotten blood must have been years old.

It was strange to find a place like that in the city. It almost felt like the warehouse had been deliberately kept like that, perhaps to hide some secrets or illicit activities.

’I can’t imagine a fey living under these conditions.’

Feys were nature-loving creatures. At least, that’s what he had learned in Nexaria. Based on that, it seemed unlikely that the fey was there. But since Fenris had led him there, there had to be a clue or something there.

"Who are you?" A voice echoed, prompting Adrian to turn around and Fenris to start growling.

A man, way past his forties, popped out from behind a bunch of boxes. He looked as grimy as the warehouse itself. If he stood still, he’d blend right in with the place.

Adrian tried to get a better look at the man’s face but couldn’t as his long, unkempt hair covered his eyes. Which meant using [Illusionary Eyes] was out of the question.

However, Adrian noticed a strange tattoo poking through the man’s torn-up sleeve. It was the same tattoo Eudora had on the back of her neck.

’Do they belong to the same guild or something? I know appearances can be deceptive, but he is in her guild?’

Now that he thought about it, it would make sense why the fey’s scent led them there if that’s the case. Adrian could keep his theories to himself as he needed to get the fey first.

"Are you deaf?" the man barked again, this time less polite than before.

"My sincere apologies," Adrian remarked, gathering his thoughts. "I didn’t know someone lived here."

"Well, now you do, so fuck off!" the man said before turning around, and his eyes fell on Fenris. "On second thought, leave that dog of yours. I’ll treat her good."

Fenris growled louder than before. Adrian noticed the man’s reaction and was about to knock some sense in him, but then he thought he could use the situation to his advantage.

"You seem to have a thing for the beasts," Adrian commented, scratching Fenris’s head. "If that’s the case, maybe we can help each other?"

"What... do you mean?" the man stammered, and Adrian knew he had hit a sensitive spot.

"No need to hide it. There’s no one here but us," Adrian continued. "I’ll let you stroke her fur if you can give me some information-"

"What do you want to know!?" the man shrieked, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

Adrian felt uneasy at the idea of letting the man touch Fenris with his dirty hand. It made him feel like insects were creeping beneath his skin. He wouldn’t let the man anywhere near Fenris, but he didn’t need to know that.

"Have you seen a little fairy-like creature around this place?" Adrian asked, and the man immediately went silent.

Watching the man swiftly switch from bursting with excitement to stunned silence confirmed everything Adrian suspected. The man had somehow managed to capture the fey.

Hell, John could have given it to him just to hide the evidence and avoid trouble later on. Considering how horny the weirdo was, he would have gladly taken the creature.

"I-I don’t know what you’re talking about," the man replied, waving off his hand. "You can leave and take your pet with you. I don’t want anything-"

"But I do," Adrian interrupted, shooting towards the man.

The next moment, the man was on the ground with Adrian standing over him. He squirmed, trying to escape Adrian’s hold, but the whip around him only constricted further with every twist and turn.

"Where is the fey?" Adrian asked, ensuring the man knew he was being serious.

"I-I don’t know-"

"Listen," Adrian said with a heavy sigh. "I’ve just returned to the city, and I’m not eager to hurt anyone right now. So, if you tell me where the fey is, I’ll let you go in peace.

He continued, "But if you don’t, things will only get worse for you. Either way, I’ll find out what I need to know. But I can assure you, no one will ever find you or your corpse again, capiche?"

"Alright! Alright! The creature is right inside one of those boxes!" the man shrieked, pointing with his head.

"Keep an eye on him," Adrian asked Fenris, leaving the man bound with the whip to investigate the boxes. "For the love of god..."

Adrian couldn’t help but recoil after what he had seen. He had thought the man was a pervert who enjoyed bestial relations, but things were far worse than expected.

The fey was there but in a state that Adrian wouldn’t wish anyone to be in. The beast had its limbs torn off by brutal force, and his eyes gauged out. The wings were also missing, and Adrian knew the thing was in agony.

Since the fey couldn’t die from such wounds, he had lived on but had no desire to continue living.

’The sick bastard must have used enchanted tools to do this... fuck, I can’t even look at it anymore.’

As Adrian was about to turn away, he heard the fey squeak with what little strength he had. Although Adrian didn’t understand what the creature said, he knew what the beast wanted from him.

"I understand," Adrian replied before walking up to the man and undoing the whip.

Taking the opportunity, the man tried to run away, probably to inform John of what happened. But before he could take a step further, Adrian grabbed him by the back of his neck and threw him to the ground so hard that the whole warehouse trembled.

"I’m not done with you yet," Adrian said calmly. He picked up his blade and stabbed it into the man’s leg, crucifying him to the ground, making sure he couldn’t move. "There’s a lot more I want to know from you."
