Chapter 174: Back Home (1)
The ABC News logo flashed across the screen as the camera zoomed in on a reporter standing at the scene of the dungeon portal incident.
"Good evening. I’m Jane Smith reporting live from Miami, Florida, where hundreds of hunters were preparing to subdue an overflow earlier today. However, their plans were thrown into disarray when a massive white wolf emerged from the portal, accompanied by several individuals instead of a monster horde."
Behind her, everything was in controlled chaos, with hunters and military personnel still roaming about while the DRA or Dungeon Research Association team was busy with the problem at hand.
The camera panned back to Jane, and she continued, gesturing toward the crowd of nearby hunters.
"As you can see behind me, the situation is still unfolding as authorities work tirelessly to determine the nature of the ’threat’ and the identities of the individuals involved," Jane explained, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
She paused as a group of officials approached, their faces tense as they conferred amongst themselves.
"We got some DRA officials heading towards ground zero. Let’s see if we can get a comment from them," Jane raised her microphone, ready to ask questions, but the officials brushed past her without a word, much like before.
"Despite repeated attempts to contact the Dungeon Research Association of the UNSC for comment, they have so far refused to provide any information," she sighed, continuing as if nothing had happened.
"However, credible insiders have claimed that the association is currently interrogating the individuals who emerged from the dungeon portal, and we are awaiting the results of their investigation. Back to you, Noah."
"Thank you, Jane. It’s always a pleasure to see you," Noah Schmitt commented as the camera went back to him. "Despite the DRA’s attempt to keep everything hush, he has some plausible information to share with our viewers."
"One of the hunters on the Oakville bridge earlier has identified one of the individuals from the incident as Adrian Fenrir, the charitable millionaire who went missing six years ago and was believed to have committed suicide following a private ordeal."
"At the moment, that is everything we know about the incident," he concluded before the screen cut to black. "For more information on this developing story, stay tuned to ABC News network."

A man sat sipping his coffee in a high-rise penthouse overlooking the city as he watched the news report. But as Noah mentioned Adrian Fenrir’s name, the man’s eyes widened in shock, and he nearly choked on his coffee while his hand shot towards the phone.
With trembling hands, he dialled a number, his heart pounding as he waited for someone to answer on the other end.
"Pick up the phone, pick up the phone..." the man mumbled, pacing around. "Dad! Finally! Have you seen the news?"
"What’s wrong, Joseph? What happened?" His father’s voice crackled over the line, concerned upon hearing his son’s frantic voice.
"It’s Adrian," the man replied. "He’s alive! They found him near the dungeon portal we paid to have overflowed!"
There was a stunned silence on the other end of the line before his father spoke again, his voice barely a whisper. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I just saw it on the news," Joseph confirmed. "The internet has probably gone haywire with the news by now!"
"Shit! The imbecile won’t leave us alone!"
"Calm down, don’t let Mom hear you," Joseph reminded him. "She still blames herself for his ’death’."
"We can’t blame her after the shit you pulled. Out of billions of women, you had to get with his fiance," The father replied, rolling his eyes. "Thankfully, Anna is stable now. But god knows what she’ll do when she gets to know about it."
He continued, "I’ll call the lawyers and see how we can keep that bastard away from us and our golden goose. In the meantime, don’t do anything stupid!"
The call disconnected before Joseph could say anything else, "That fucker... We’ve worked too hard to let him ruin everything now."

Adrian sat in the interrogation room, his hands bound by handcuffs. The rest of them were in a similar state. Though they could have disagreed to follow the DRA, Adrian decided against it as Vesper needed medical attention, and it seemed the DRA could provide them with that.
I still can’t believe I’m back...
It felt weird. Adrian had spent three years in Nexaria looking for a way back, and there he was, accidentally slipping into a portal that brought him back to Earth.
But what was even more weird was that they landed inside a dungeon. Thankfully, the dungeon boss was only a Lizardman, and they could defeat it.
However, he didn’t think they’d be on Earth upon exiting the dungeon. It was a genuine surprise and a much-welcome one. Still, even then, he couldn’t help but feel something was missing.
They were on Earth, with no way back to Nexaria. This meant that Adrian wouldn’t know the Pope’s reaction upon seeing one of his beloved churches destroyed, nor would he know what happened to the elves.
While he was lost in his thoughts, a male officer from the DRA entered the room, his demeanour apologetic as he approached Adrian.
"I’m sorry about the restraints," the officer said, handing Adrian’s expired driving license back to him. "Now that we have confirmed your identity, we can remove the restraint-"
As soon as those words escaped the officer’s mouth, Adrian twisted his wrists, breaking the handcuffs with ease.
"Or you could do that..." the officer sighed, looking sideways at his superiors. "As much as I would love to let you go, there are some formalities that we need to deal with first."
"Sure. What do you want to know?"
"Everything," the officer replied. "From where you have been for the last six years to who are the people accompanying you-"
"Wait, how many years did you say it had been?" Adrian interrupted.
"Six years... I thought you knew that?"
Adrian shot a look at the officer that clearly said he had no idea.
