Chapter 173: Arbiter (2)

Gemini rushed past Adrian and the rest to conjure a shield from the shadows. However, the shield was shattered the next moment, knocking everyone back.

The Zodiacs have had their fair share of encounters with the Arbiters, but it was the first time Adrian had seen one. Who could have blamed him? The way the Arbiters were talked about, they were more like a myth.

The Celestial Arbiter towered over them, embodying supreme power and unchallenged authority. However, Adrian couldn’t help but notice something weird about the Arbiter.

The guy looked more like an android than a human, with his eyes covered by a strange device that seemed to have become one with his skin. However, what felt even more bizarre was seeing the man unaffected by their presence. It almost felt like...

He considers us as mere insects...

So far, Adrian had known the Zodiacs to be the strongest. But his perception was shattered when he peeked into the stats of the man clad in black.

Adrian couldn’t believe his eyes. No matter how formidable an opponent he had faced, their stats and skills were always visible to him. That alone explained the severity of their situation.

They were doomed, and everyone’s faces reflected that. The powerful Zodiac, which even made the Church and the Nexarian king bow down, was now brought to its knees by just one man.

"Intruders detected," Arbiter announced. "Enacting elimination protocol."

"How about you enact getting scrapped protocol?" Gemini mumbled through gritted teeth before summoning thousands of shadowy tendrils to hold the Arbiter.

"Everyone, inside the crack, NOW!" Seraphina shrieked, knowing it was their only shot at escaping.

They didn’t need another reminder. Even without the [Analysis] skill, the girls knew they were going to die if they remained there for even a second longer.

A’Mila grabbed Vesper and jumped inside without a second thought, followed by Amelia. Adrian hesitated momentarily before grabbing Sophia’s hand and pushing her inside along with Fenris.

"What about the rest of you?" he asked Seraphina.

"I’m coming with you," Seraphina replied. "Libra and Gemini can deal with the mindless freak."

As soon as she said that, Libra undo the blindfold and opened his eyes. At the same time, Gemini jumped out of his vision, saving himself from harm.

The Arbiter stumbled for a moment but quickly regained his balance. Adrian checked his stats again but couldn’t see much change, even though Libra’s move should have halved the Arbiter’s stats.

What kind of monster is it...

The revelation was enough for Adrian to jump into the crack without another thought. Seraphina looked around for a second before leaping as well.

"I’ll leave the rest to you guys!"

"To us?" Gemini scoffed. "Like hell, I’m going against this piece of mindwashed crap."

"I would expect nothing less from you, Gemini," a distorted voice replied.

At the following moment, a portal opened behind them, and the other Zodiacs, led by Nameless, walked out of it. It was rare for all of them to move simultaneously, and this was one such occasion.

"Keep our guest entertained," Nameless waved his hand before walking up to the crack Adrian and the rest had jumped into. "Your presence will be missed, Dishonoured One."

With a snap of his finger, the crack in the Veil disappeared without any evidence. It was a power only the Arbiters had, and watching someone else do it took the Arbiter by surprise. But he had more things to worry about as the Zodiacs jumped him.

Somewhere unknown...

Raiding dungeons is an easy way to make money!

What could go wrong in a low-grade Dungeon? Stop fussing and get going already!

Five teams should be more than enough to raid a large dungeon.

The words kept repeating in Alexander’s head as they made their way out of the Dungeon, which was scheduled to overflow within seven hours.

Usually, no one would be allowed to enter a dungeon so close to Overflow, but since it was a low-ranking dungeon that had been ignored by the officials, five teams, mainly consisting of C-rankers, were sent to deal with it.

However, it turned out to be disastrous. Due to the neglect of the association’s higher-ups, the dungeon monsters were left unchecked and fed on each other, a phenomenon that was never heard of and evolved.

While the Dungeon was still at D-grade, the monsters within were all B-rank or higher after evolving. The teams that were supposed to hunt separately had to join hands, but that wasn’t enough.

Ultimately, Alexander had to order the team to leave and wait for the Overflow. His decision had saved the lives of countless hunters.

But his money-mongering superiors couldn’t care less about it; they were more worried about their image and the economic loss they’d have to take because of the Overflow.

"Fucking bastards, all of them!" Alexander cursed under his breath.

Scanning the area, he saw many hunters gathered near Oakville Bridge, eagerly awaiting the Overflow.

They had an hour to go, but the surveillance team had picked up odd signals from the Dungeon, so the hunters were on high alert, ready for action.

As the portal began to cackle ominously, the hunters braced themselves for the onslaught of monsters that would soon come pouring out. Adrenaline kicked in their blood, and everyone was on edge, wondering what kind of monster would appear out of there.

However, they weren’t expecting a massive white wolf to emerge from the dungeon portal.

"What in the world...?" one hunter muttered, his confusion mirrored by his comrades.

"Is that...a wolf?" another whispered, eyeing the creature warily.

But the wolf wasn’t alone. With it were... humans? The humans looked as surprised to see them as the hunters were shocked to see humans walk out of a dungeon.

"What the hell is going on here?" Alexander mumbled. "Wait... is that? Adrian!? I can’t believe this!"
