Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer -
Chapter 172: Arbiter (1)
Chapter 172: Arbiter (1)
True to his word, Adrian turned Vincent into an origami project. By the time he was done, Vincent didn’t even have the strength left to groan in pain. His immortality had turned into a curse from a blessing.
Every bone of the elf’s limbs had shattered several times, to the point that Vincent appeared to have no bones left. They were just a mass of flesh that Adrian tied together, turning the left into a glorified backpack.
Even Taurus was surprised to see Adrian’s cruelty. But he was more surprised by the fact that Vincent was still alive. The elf’s shattered facial bones had punctured an eye, and he accidentally bit into and tore his tongue while Adrian was smashing his face on the ground.
It was truly a pitiful state. Rowan and Shu were gone, and now that Vincent had been reduced to a vegetative state, Alfvania’s future looked bleak.
Adrian would have done a lot more to the poor elf, but he was short on time. After doing everything he did to Vincent, he only had a minute before he had to leave. Thankfully, it was enough for one final act of revenge.
I’ve already initiated a war by killing two princes. I might as well rub some salt on the wound.
With that thought, Adrian grabbed a bunch of spears left by the fallen soldiers and impaled Vincent to them before putting him up in front of the church’s door.
As much as Adrian wanted to sever the bastard’s head and put it on a pike like Ahuli did with the heroes, he decided he didn’t want to test the limits of Vincent’s immortality and kill him accidentally.
Besides, he wanted the elves to remember the price of messing with the wrong people and thought that watching Vincent in such a state would pull their minds out of their asses and correct the errors of their ways.
It was wishful thinking on Adrian’s part, but he was willing to give them a chance to change.
Shit! I got carried away!
Adrian panicked when he realised that dealing with Vincent had taken longer than expected. However, help was already there.
"Which direction?" Taurus asked Adrian, his figure towering over the human.
"What?"
"Which direction do you... have to go..." Taurus asked again.
"Southwest."
"Distance...?"
"Three miles, more or less," Adrian replied, wondering if the minotaur had a portal stone or something that would get him to the destination.
Unfortunately, Taurus believed in only one thing: strength, and he flexed his muscles. Adrian had a bad feeling about this and was about to reject the proposal, but Taurus had already made his mind up.
Without a warning, he took a few steps back, dragging a hoof on the ground like a bull would before a charge.
"...what are you thinking?" Adrian smiled nervously.
However, Taurus didn’t reply and grinned mischievously as he eyed Adrian. With a hearty laugh, Taurus lowered his head and charged forward, his massive horns shining in the sunlight.
Adrian was taken aback and barely had time to react before being scooped up by the minotaur’s massive arms.
"OI! WHAT THE HELL!?"
Before Adrian could protest further, Taurus increased his speed, his hooves thundering against the ground as he gained momentum.
With a triumphant shout, Taurus swung Adrian back like a human javelin and released him with a mighty roar.
Adrian soared through the air, his arms flailing wildly. As Adrian sailed through the sky, Taurus watched with a satisfied grin, his chest puffing out with pride at his quick thinking.
"There... you go..." he said before leaving to join Leo and Aries.

A’Mila paced back and forth, agitatedly glancing everywhere, hoping for Adrian’s arrival.
"Where the heck is Adrian?" she asked Sophia for what felt like the hundredth time.
Sophia sighed, her patience wearing thin. "I’ve already told you, he’s at the church dealing with something. He should be here in a while."
"That’s all I have been hearing ’for a while!’"
"And yelling at me will get him here faster?"
Sophia rolled her eyes, getting off the boulder she was sitting on to make some distance from A’Mila, or they would be at each other’s throats.
Meanwhile, Vesper lay nearby. As they arrived near the crack they were about to jump into, the girls met Gemini and Libra, who were waiting for them there with medical supplies, just like Adrian had informed Sophia.
They immediately got to work and patched Vesper and the rest of them up, and within moments, they were ready to leave Nexaria behind. However, Adrian wasn’t there, and they couldn’t go early, or the crack might close and cause problems.
Vesper was resting on top of Fenris, whose fur served as the best makeshift bed for her. At the same time, Seraphina, Amelia, Gemini, and Libra stood guard, their eyes scanning the surrounding forest for any sign of danger.
"We’re running out of time," Gemini mumbled in their distorted voice. "Leave him behind and go before the Arbiters find us."
Libra didn’t say anything but expressed himself, shaking his head. Adrian needed to leave Nexaria before the Pope returned, or they would have difficulty keeping him safe.
After their attack, Adrian was declared public enemy number one. He was only alive because the Celestial Arbiters rarely involved themselves in Nexarian affairs and were only interested in studying the Veil and keeping the cracks in check.
As they debated whether they should wait for Adrian or leave, they heard a strange noise from above, causing them to look up in alarm. Something was heading their way, and they were worried that they might’ve been discovered.
"Is it a bird?" A’Mila wondered aloud, squinting up at the sky.
Amelia shook her head, her brow furrowed. "No, it’s too big for a bird."
"Wait, is that? There’s no way..." Sophia mumbled, and sure enough, Adrian crashed to the ground with a resounding thud, causing them to mutter, "Oh, it’s Adrian."
"Are you alright?" Sophia and Amelia rushed to Adrian’s side and checked him for injuries.
"I’ll live..." Adrian groaned in pain before turning towards Seraphina. "Someone needs to restrain that bull of yours!"
"Who, Taurus?" Seraphina asked, trying her best not to laugh.
"Who else?" Adrian retorted, wincing as he sat up, rubbing his head. "The fucker threw me from the church all the way here-"
Gemini couldn’t hold it any longer and burst out laughing. The rest followed behind them. However, the fun time didn’t last long as an uninvited figure appeared before them.
"...there’s no way," Gemini mumbled, rushing ahead. "Everyone get back!"
