Chapter 171: [Weekly Bonus Chapter 5/6] Death Awaits (3)
Somewhere in Alfvania...
A female elf sat beneath the shade of a towering tree, its branches laden with hundreds of delicate glass fruits. Tending to the Tree of Life had been her favourite thing to do in recent years.
She looked around the expanse. Countless attendants surrounded her, waiting for her command, and they would even move a mountain for her. There was nothing more she wanted for herself. But even if all that, she couldn’t help but feel something was amiss.
Immersed in the beauty of the scenery before her, Elara was startled when a couple of glass fruits fell to the ground, shattering into a thousand pieces. The sound echoed through the air, and the concerned attendants rushed to her side.
"Lady Elara, are you alright?" Joana, the head maid, asked.
Elara remained silent, her eyes fixed on the shards of glass scattered at her feet. Slowly, she bent down and picked up one of the pieces, her fingers trembling as she examined it. To her dismay, the glass had turned a deep shade of red—a sign of a noble elf’s death.
Turning to her attendants, Elara’s voice was calm but firm as she spoke. "Arrange a meeting with the Monarch. There is urgent news that he must hear."
"Your father isn’t here, my lady," Joana replied, bowing her head. "However, a meeting with the Queen can be arranged."
Hearing the news, Elara sighed. She had never gotten along with her stepmother, but in the Monarch’s absence, she was in charge, and it wasn’t a matter Elara couldn’t ignore because of personal grudges.
With a resigned sigh, she instructed the attendant to prepare to leave for the capital, all the while holding the crimson shard in her hand. Hoping for the safety of her siblings.
"May Elenion protect them all..."

Back in Nexaria...
The deadly mist disappeared with a snap of his fingers, prompting Adrian to continue with the next step.
However, before he could leave, Taurus stopped him, and although the soft-spoken minotaur didn’t say a word, Adrian knew what was going on underneath his mask.
"Something you want to ask?" Adrian asked.
Taurus thought for a moment before shaking his head and stepping back. Leo instructed him not to indulge with Adrian for the moment, and that’s what he did.
Adrian nodded and turned to leave, but he had a few parting words for the Zodiacs before leaving.
"I hope you’re not looking for a person in there," Adrian said, pointing at the Church. "Because there’s no one you’ll find there. Not alive, at least."
Taurus remained silent but nodded, acknowledging Adrian’s words. They weren’t looking for someone, but an artefact, so it was all right. Simultaneously, Adrian unintentionally answered the question troubling Taurus. The Zodiac member now knew why Adrian reeked of death.
Just moments ago, Adrian had filled the Church’s living spaces with [Blood Mist], killing everyone there. Although he aimed to take out everyone who had wronged Vesper, him and the heroes who died at Tulka’s hands, in the end, he failed.
Many of the top leaders escaped and were nowhere to be found. They either left when the attack began or were away with the Pope in the Holy Realm, a place only the most devotees of Aria could enter.
All Adrian knew was that they weren’t dead, and this angered him, but there was nothing he could do about it.
[You have levelled up!]
The same notification went off five times, stopping only when another notification was put up.
[You have reached Level 30.]
[Please proceed with the Advancement Quest to continue levelling as usual.]
[Until the Advancement Quest is completed, all earned experience will be accumulated and used later.]
Adrian glanced at the notification before closing it. He knew it would happen sooner or later and was prepared for it. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to do it for a while.
Let’s deal with this mess first.
Without delay, Adrian retrieved the Minotaur’s Broadsword and walked to the pile of elven corpses. They all appeared dead at a glance, but Adrian knew better than to take things at eye value.
"Stop pretending to be dead," Adrian mumbled. "I can see right through it, because I still have my [Analysis] skill, you royal bastard."
Vincent knew Adrian was talking to him, but he remained stubborn, lying perfectly still, thinking he would eventually leave. When that didn’t happen, Vincent held his breath, steeling himself for what was to come.
True to his instinct, Vincent felt a sharp pain shoot through his leg as Adrian stabbed him. He bit down hard on his lip, trying to stifle the scream that was on the verge of escaping his mouth.
But as Adrian kept twisting the blade, the agony was too much to bear, and Vincent couldn’t help but cry out.
"Argh!"
Adrian’s hand shot out before the scream could subside, grabbing Vincent’s head before slamming it down onto the ground with brutal force that shattered the elf’s nose.
But Adrian wasn’t done. He kept slamming Vincent’s head to the ground until the elf had none of his teeth remaining, and his handsome face was shattered beyond repair.
[An entity views the User with hostility.]
"Send the fucker my regards," Adrian scoffed, flipping off the ’Observer’.
Adrian knew it must be the ’Observer’ because he was thrashing his apostle. Sloth had warned him not to unnecessarily provoke him, but Adrian couldn’t care less at that moment.
Although he didn’t say it, he was grateful to the Observer. After all, the moron had made Vincent immortal. In other words, Vincent was the perfect punching bag for him.
Since learning about Vincent’s betrayal, Adrian has thought about the perfect way to deal with him. However, killing him wasn’t an option. He won’t leave the damn elf off the hook so easily.
Thanks to the ’Observer’, Adrian didn’t have to worry about accidentally killing Vincent.
"You should have left while you had the chance," Pulling his head close, Adrian whispered in Vincent’s ear in a cold, menacing tone. "Thankfully, you didn’t, and now I’ll get to make you regret that decision all your pathetic life."
