Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer -
Chapter 151: Storming The Citadel (1)
Chapter 151: Storming The Citadel (1)
As much as the tribals would have loved to gossip about A’Mila’s ’affair’, they wouldn’t get a chance to do it in front of her or Adrian. After the incident, Akila informed everyone to be prepared to leave as the elves had passed through the Veil, the mystical barrier that separated their world from the rest.
The entire tribe underwent a transition as soon as the news was delivered to them. No one was smiling or playing around anymore. They only had one thought: revenge.
The Banurs wanted revenge against the Nexarians for causing irreparable damage to them. At the same time, Adrian and the girls wanted Vincent and Clara to pay for their crimes.
But first, they had to get to the outpost. But they couldn’t simply storm the fortress.
"I have a plan," Adrian smirked.

The next day, Fortress Nova, in the wilderness...
Shiroa sighed as the soldiers hurried an injured soldier into the infirmary. The soldier had his head busted open but miraculously remained semi-conscious.
"What happened to him?" Shiroa asked while performing primary checkups.
"We were attacked during the patrol," one of the soldiers replied. "The cowards sneaked behind our backs. Jerome was the first to get hit and dragged by those savages."
"But we chased the tribals away, and they left him behind in that state," another soldier replied, caressing a wound of his own.
"It seems the elves were right," Shiroa replied as she cleaned the wounds. "The Tulkas have been annihilated. We need to inform the Commander-in-Chief about this new development."
The soldiers nodded before turning to healers to treat them. The elves went through the Veil yesterday and suggested that the rest of the Nexarians do the same.
Shiroa was there when Shu recounted the events of the Tulkas incident, and at first, she didn’t believe it.
She had seen how strong Ahuli was and couldn’t believe someone could kill him in such a vicious manner, especially Adrian since he was dead. Even if he wasn’t, he was still the weakest hero ever.
Shiroa believed the elf was lying and had some hidden motive because their story wasn’t adding up. But now that the tribals had found and attacked them, she couldn’t help but think there could be some truth to Shu’s words.
"Jerome, how many fingers am I holding up?" Shiroa asked, holding four fingers.
"...four," Jerome weakly replied.
"Good," Shiroa let out a sigh of relief. "Looks like being thick-headed saved your life. Now follow my finger..."
Shiroa moved her finger sideways and thankfully, Jerome was responding well. But then it hit her. The wound on Jerome’s head appeared to be healing on its own despite the significant damage.
"What the-" Shiroa turned, alarmed by potential deception, when Jerome suddenly grabbed her hand.
"Don’t do anything that would put your life in unnecessary danger," Adrian whispered, his grip tightening around her wrist. "Nod, if you understand."
Shiroa gulped down her saliva and nodded, but in her mind, she was thinking of ways to get out of the mess without causing much harm. As she looked around, she realized her hands were tied.
A few combat personnel were in the infirmary, and most of them were injured. Besides, Shiroa didn’t know what the enemy was capable of or if the force could deal with him.
"Good, now look at me."
Shiroa did as she was told, unaware that it would be her biggest mistake.
Adrian used [Illusionary Eyes] on her without wasting a second, turning her into a faithful servant. Once she was under his control, Adrian put his plan into action.
"Make everyone else leave the room, now!"
"As you wish," Shiroa replied, ushering everyone out of there.
The soldiers and the staff were confused, but they knew better than to argue with Shiroa, given her temper and did as they were told. Once the task was over, she returned to Adrian’s side like a faithful dog.
Meanwhile, Adrian returned to being himself as he got off the medical table, "Do you have access to the armoury?"
"In case of emergencies, each personnel member is allowed free access to the armoury," Shiroa replied. "You would need a keycard to access the armoury-"
"Do you have explosives in there?"
"Affirmative-"
"Set the infirmary on fire," Adrian instructed her nonchalantly. "Also, hand over your keycard."
While Shiroa handed him the keycard, Adrian changed his attire into scrubs and wore a mask to hide his face before heading out of the infirmary. But he returned a moment later.
"Set the place on fire and then run out of here. Don’t stand there like a fool."
"As you wish," Shiroa turned around for a moment before getting back to destroying the place.
The Nexarians, being the clever souls they were, had plastered the entire building with directions. It only took a few minutes for Adrian to reach the armoury, but someone stopped him as he was about to enter the keycard.
"Hey, you! What is your business here?" A man with a burly figure asked.
Adrian sighed, slowly turning around. He really didn’t want anyone bothering him right now. That’s why he had told Shiroa to start a fire in the infirmary, to create a distraction. But it looked like she was running a bit late.
"Are you deaf?" the man barked again. "I’m asking what the hell you’re doing here!"
"Your squeaky voice doesn’t match your figure. Has anyone ever told you that?" Adrian shrugged, approaching the man.
"You-!"
Before the man could speak, Adrian lunged and struck his throat. The man grasped at his neck, dropping to his knees, gasping for air. With a swift motion, Adrian twisted his neck, ending his life.
Funnily enough, the alarms went blaring as the man’s lifeless body fell limp on the ground.
"Tsk... your luck is even worse than mine," Adrian clicked his tongue before unlocking the armoury.
Once inside, he quickly found the explosives and armed them. Seconds later, a hole was blown through the thick anti-magic walls as the Banurs trotted inside without a care in the world.
"Told you I had a plan," Adrian welcomed Akila with a smirk. "Take all the weapons you need. Time to show them what happens when you mess with the hornet’s nest."
