Chapter 137: Chimaera’s Rage (3)
Adrian shot out, his punch directed towards Ahuli’s chest.
"Hup!" Ahuli gasped, barely deflecting Adrian’s strike.
Though Ahuli managed to deflect the attack with his only arm, the force behind Adrian’s attack left his hands numb to the point that it felt as if it would fall off at any moment.
’When did he get so strong?’ Ahuli wondered, recalling his first encounter with ’Milka’.
Even then, Adrian’s attack was decently strong, but now, it seemed to be on a different scale. Ahuli had thought it would be easy to deal with Adrian even in his condition, but that no longer seemed to be the case.
The Chieftain was unaware, but Adrian had gained several levels since their last battle. However, this wasn’t the sole reason for Ahuli’s impending defeat. He was also weaker than before, which he couldn’t ignore, no matter how much he wanted.
With him continuously losing blood, it was only a matter of time before he collapsed either from exhaustion or blood loss. But Adrian wasn’t going to let that stop him.
"Giving up already?" Adrian snarled, kicking Ahuli’s injured knee.
Ahuli’s legs buckled beneath him, forcing him to kneel. He glanced up in Adrian’s direction and saw a face filled with anger and hatred staring back at him.
Ahuli didn’t get much time to react as Adrian grabbed his head, slamming his knee into it with brute force, shattering his nose. But Adrian wasn’t done and kicked the Chieftain’s face again as he fell over.
He stood over Ahuli, his chest heaving with rage. Ahuli lay on the ground. He still couldn’t feel any pain, but for the first time in his life, he was scared of something. He was afraid of the reaper standing before him.
Ahuli tried to escape, but Adrian grabbed his leg and pulled him back.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but we’re just getting started," Adrian mumbled, mounting Ahuli and began hammering his face with his fists.
Adrian did not stop once he started. He relentlessly punched the Chieftain, and the force of his punches drove Ahuli deeper into the ground with each strike.
Between the strikes, Ahuli’s eyes fell on the severed heads of the heroes he had killed. Moments ago, they were twisted in pain, but now the faces were laughing at him, taunting him for his miserable situation. He had killed them all, but now one of them was beating the crap out of him.
Despite his injuries, Ahuli weakly attempted to defend himself, but Adrian’s fury knew no bounds. He grabbed his hand and snapped it like a twig. The sickening crunch echoed through the now-silent battlefield.
The fighting between the tribes had ceased, and all eyes were fixed on Adrian as he unleashed his wrath upon Ahuli. Tulkas had a reason to be scared. After all, they’d be next once Adrian was done with their leader.
But even then, the Banurs didn’t have a joyful expression. Strangely enough, their expressions mirrored that of the Tulkas, one of fear and confusion.
Blood sprayed through the air as Adrian’s fists collided with Ahuli’s shattered face, crushing bones and tearing flesh. One of Ahuli’s eyes was obliterated in the assault, leaving a gruesome, empty socket.
Even as his fists began to fracture under the force of his blows, Adrian showed no mercy. With each punch, he saw Sophia’s, Amelia’s and Sara’s faces before his eyes, and he kept blaming himself for their condition.
At that moment, a system prompt flashed before Adrian’s eyes, a warning that his minotaur heart was on the verge of breaking free from its constraints. But Adrian ignored it as all his bottled-up rage poured out.
"You killed them... my friends!" Adrian’s voice trembled with barely contained anger, his fists raining down upon Ahuli’s broken body. "You butchered them like animals... and paraded their heads for all to see!"
With each mention of his friends’ deaths, Adrian’s fury only grew, his fists becoming relentless in their assault.
"They were warriors, not playthings for your sick amusement!"
Ahuli tried to speak something, but Adrian had none of it and tore off his tongue. The ’human’ and ’heroic’ he had in him died in that instance. All that remained was a vengeful chimaera.
"You thought you could get away with it!? You thought there’d be no consequences!?" Adrian yelled as he continued ripping Ahuli to shreds, one piece at a time. "I’ll make you pay for what you did! I’ll make you suffer like they did!"
The once proud warriors of both tribes now stood frozen in place, their weapons forgotten as they witnessed the devastating display of violence before them.
The elves, known for their composure, watched in horror as Adrian’s bloodlust consumed him. Their usual peaceful faces were contorted with fear. But they weren’t the only ones.
The entities looked at the ’fight’ with awe and concern, long forgotten about their little bet. Though they were beyond mortal fears, even they could not deny the primal power coming from Adrian’s rage.
Something was different about him, and it made them even more fascinated. More and more entities joined those who came before, taken aback by the rage a mere mortal had.
Usually, it would be a chaotic scene with constant notifications. But this time, the entities chose to remain silent and, for once, do what they were supposed to: observe the exchange between two mortals without interfering.
None of them, mortals and immortals, dared stop the chimaera until Akila noticed the chaos. He was busy supervising the capture of the Tulkas, who had surrendered when everything went silent.
Worried, Akila left to check on the rest, and that’s when he saw Adrian tearing Ahuli apart.
"Adrian! Stop this madness!" Akila called out, rushing towards him.
But as Adrian turned to face him, his eyes bloodshot with rage, Akila hesitated for a moment, taken aback by the intensity of his gaze. It almost felt like merely looking at Adrian would kill him.
Nevertheless, he pushed forward, knocking Adrian off Ahuli and pinning him to the ground.
"Stop it! You’ve done enough!" Akila yelled, trying to calm Adrian. "This isn’t you! You’re better than this!"
Adrian didn’t reply, but his struggles grew more frantic as he fought against Akila’s hold. All the while, his eyes remained fixed on Ahuli, bathed in his own blood, seconds away from death.
