Chapter 136: Chimaera’s Rage (2)

"Fcking bitch..." Ahuli mumbled through gritted teeth.

He couldn’t feel any pain, but the weakness from blood loss was a separate matter. With an entire hand missing, things didn’t look good for Ahuli as he struggled to get up.

He might have defeated A’Mila, but the price he had to pay wasn’t worth the trouble. Once he returned to his feet, Ahuli’s eyes scanned the battlefield.

It was obvious his tribe was losing. They had heavily depended on their captured beasts, and with them gone, the soldiers kept falling like a house of cards.

Even Mammoroth was gone, with it, the tribe’s final hope of victory. Eventually, Ahuli’s eyes fell on the woman lying before him.

A’Mila was unconscious; the poison was working, but she kept breathing, showing her strength. Ahuli couldn’t take it. How could the bitch be alive after severing his arm?

"I’ll kill you, even if it’s the last thing I do," Ahuli snarled, reaching out towards A’Mila’s neck.

The air was turned hot as Ahuli breathed heavily, moments away from ending A’Mila’s life. But suddenly, the place went cold. Ahuli could feel the change in the air as he looked up.

"Someone’s here-"

*POW!*

No sooner than those words escaped his mouth than someone kicked Ahuli in the face. Ahuli weakened from the blood loss, couldn’t react in time and was flung away from his prey.

"Who the hell- oh, it’s the traitor," Ahuli snarled, staring at Adrian standing over A’Mila. "You can’t save her, just like you can’t save yourself!"

But then Ahuli remembered about Sophia and Amelia and turned around to see the Banurs and the elves had taken down the hostages and were treating them.

"The bastard must have rescued them before heading here," Ahuli mumbled, slamming his fist on the ground. "No matter, it’s too late to save his beloved Chieftain. At least... I’d be taking away something from you."

Adrian didn’t say a word and kept staring at A’Mila as the poison slowly took over her body. While he didn’t care about the dark spot spreading on his leg, Ahuli was eagerly eyeing Adrian’s leg. However, he was shocked when the poison stopped spreading and disappeared from Adrian’s body.

"How did you-" Ahuli exclaimed, briefly frozen in shock as he turned to see both Sophia and Amelia were down and being treated.

Adrian didn’t pay any attention to Ahuli’s yelling and put a tiny cut on his palm before dropping a few drops over A’Mila’s body.

Unlike Ahuli’s poison, Adrian’s blood poison wouldn’t hurt A’Mila unless it got into her bloodstream. But it was potent enough to cancel out Ahuli’s poison, and the troll blood would help fight off the rest of the poison.

It wasn’t the perfect treatment, but it was the best Adrian could do for her, given the situation. Once he was done, he lifted her, preparing to take her away, but Ahuli wouldn’t make it easy.

"You’re not leaving this place! Not on my watch!" Ahuli yelled, lunging towards them, only to be kicked away.

Adrian didn’t even bother dropping A’Mila as he kicked Ahuli away.

"You’re an annoying cockroach, aren’t you?" Adrian finally replied, placing A’Mila under Fenris’s protection. "Why don’t you do yourself a favour and stay down? It’d be easier for both of us."

Ahuli didn’t reply as his eyes were fixed on Adrian’s legs, and the effect of his poison was negated once again.

"How are you doing this...?"

"Who knows?" Adrian shrugged, turning to face the demonic Chieftain.

As he turned, he felt someone grab his arm. He glanced over his shoulder to see that A’Mila had regained consciousness and was holding his arm.

"Be... care...ful..." she spoke weakly, her voice barely a whisper.

"I know," Adrian smiled, placing his hand on hers. "Why don’t you take a nap, and I’ll wake you up once I’m done dealing with the demonic doofus?"

It looked like A’Mila wanted to say something but gave up and went back to sleep with a slight smile.

"Now then," Adrian said, flexing his neck. "let’s get this over with."

Ahuli warily glanced at Adrian’s sword, feeling something was off about it. Adrian noticed Ahuli’s gaze and placed the sword in his inventory. It wasn’t like he would need the weapon to kill someone who already had one foot in his grave.

But Ahuli saw it as disrespect. He was weak, but not weak to be disrespected in such a manner.

[The entity, Sin of Greed, brings out his prized betting table, urging fellow entities to put a wager.]

[The entity, Mother Who Loves Her Plants, places her 420th most favourite plant on the line.]

[The entity, Sin of Sloth, yawns and throws the closest item next to her futon.]

The notifications popped off after that. Entities that Adrian had heard about and those he hadn’t were eagerly placing their bets.

’You plan worked, Sloth,’ Adrian thought.

[The entity, Sin of Sloth, smiles and places a finger on her lips.]

When Adrian was looking for Vincent earlier, Sloth urged him to fight Ahuli instead. At first, he was confused, but Adrian readily agreed when Sloth explained the reason behind her request.

According to her, the ’Observer’ was a crook who often used underhanded tricks to make others suffer. Since not many entities were interested in Vincent anymore, it was likely the ’Observer’ would mess with Adrian’s fight with the elf and even get him killed.

However, he won’t be able to pull such tricks with other entities watching the fight. That’s why Sloth urged Adrian to fight Ahuli first; Greed would want to take advantage of the situation and propose a bet; after all, Sloth knew her brother well.

Once the betting table was up, many entities would join in. After that was accomplished, all Adrian needed was to win the fight and rush to find Vincent, who was hiding himself, probably on the Oberserver’s instructions.

In this manner, they’d force the Observer to do just that and observe without interfering in their business.

[The entity, Illegitimate War God, starts the countdown for the battle! 3... 2... 1!]
