Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer -
Chapter 138: Pisces
Chapter 138: Pisces
"Your little experiment is getting out of hand now, madam," a voice cackled through the device’s speaker.
"It wouldn’t have been an experiment if he didn’t go rampant once in a while," the woman replied, enjoying her bath. "Besides, he isn’t an experiment, he’s my Adrian."
"Never mind his name, I wouldn’t have spared a thought if it was a rampage, but this is a different matter," the voice responded. "That guy just wrecked our only lead to find the beacon. Without Ahuli, things might take a-"
"Ugh, let me get out first," the woman rolled her eyes, slipping out of the bathtub.
The steam from the shower curled around her, wrapping her in a soft embrace as she stepped out. Her pristine white skin gleamed in the bathroom’s low light.
Despite her annoyance, she remained as graceful as ever. Once out of the bathtub, she reached for the towel, its thin fabric clinging to her damp curves as she wrapped it around herself, leaving little to the imagination.
She took towards the phone as water drops raced down her curvy body. With a flick of her finger, she deactivated the speaker, bringing the phone close to her ear.
"What did my beloved Adrian do now?" The woman spoke.
"He killed Ahuli! That’s what he did!"
The woman broke down laughing. Adrian killed someone as strong as Ahuli? Yeah, that would never happen. Not in the world they lived in.
"Adrian? He killed Ahuli?" she scoffed, clearly in disbelief. "You must be joking! Adrian wouldn’t harm a fly without good reason, even if he had the strength to do it."
The woman expected the man on the other end to say something. But when he didn’t, the woman realised her butler wasn’t joking.
A stunned silence followed his revelation as the gravity of the situation sank in. The woman’s laughter faded, replaced by a deep sense of unease.
"John, tell me the truth. What happened there?"
"Ahuli... that moron slaughtered them all, the heroes, the Nexarians..." John Mikaveli sighed, looking at the scene from his binoculars. "As if that wasn’t enough, he displayed their heads like trophies in the village square."
"Aria, have mercy..." The woman gasped, cupping her mouth.
This wasn’t part of the Zodiac’s plan, and the implications were far more complex than she had anticipated. They needed Ahuli alive as he was the only one who knew the ’Beacon’s’ location.
It was for that reason they had ignored the Tulkas’ crimes for so long. Her mind raced as she processed the implications of Adrian’s actions and the impact it would have on the Zodiac’s plans.
If Ahuli indeed was responsible for such heinous acts, then Adrian’s response, however extreme, could be seen as justified. But now, because of Adrian, it all slipped away. They couldn’t allow it to happen.
’I need to contact the others,’ the woman thought, about to disconnect the call when the voice called out again.
"Lady Seraphina, are you there?"
"Do you have a death wish, John?" Seraphina snarled, but John recoiled in fear as if Seraphina was standing before him.
"My apologies, Madam Pisces," John hastily corrected his mistake.
Seraphina sighed, shaking her head. "No need to apologise, John. Just be careful where and when you call me by that name. After all, I’m merely the saintess, nothing more."
"Yes, Ma’am!"
"Oh, and John?"
"Yes..."
"Thank you for informing me about the little ’incident’," Seraphina sighed. "I’ll handle it from here."
"Of course, Ma’am. Glad to be of service."
Saying so, John disconnected the call. Seraphina smiled, walking up to the mirror, slowly her face changed, resembling the face of one of the barmaids from the Inn in the slums.
"Things are about to get hectic in Nexaria... At least we’ll have Adrian by our side once all hell breaks loose."

Back in the Wilderness...
It took a while, but things eventually calmed down following Adrian’s rage-filled rampage. A third of the Tulkas surrendered to the Banurs following Ahuli’s death, while the Banurs only lost a tenth of their forces.
The Tulkas had accepted their defeat, but no one had been hit harder than Skaha as a result of their loss. Ahuli’s death had thrown him into a downward spiral, and his eyes were lifeless, with no desire to carry on.
As for Sophia and Amelia, the elves under Shu and Reena were treating them and were confident in their recovery. However, Amelia would never be able to use a bow again now that she had lost an arm.
A’Mila would have faced the same situation, had it not been for Adrian’s intervention. As absurd as it sounded, his blood had saved her arm.
As for the Tulka settlement, the Banurs took over it as it was better developed than their settlement. Akila sent some of the people to carry their traps from the old settlement to the new one.
While that was being done, the Banurs and the elves, together, cremated the fallen heroes, praying their souls to find peace despite the horrors they were forced to endure.
However, it wasn’t all good news. In the heat of battle, Vincent and Clara managed to slip away unnoticed. By the time the tribe realised it, it was too late and searching for them in the forest was next to impossible.
"It’s a good thing Adrian is knocked out," A’Mila mumbled, sitting on the makeshift infirmary created by the elves. "Or else he’d go on another rampage."
"It’s not a matter to laugh at," Akila scolded his sister. "You didn’t witness the hunger in his eyes... it brought back memories of that dreadful night, except this time Adrian remained aware, not consumed by the beast within."
A’Mila nodded before staring out the window. It had been a couple of days since the battle, and time and time again, someone would tell her about Adrian’s rampage.
At first, she thought everyone was messing with her, but the expression in their eyes told her all she needed to know. Those eyes still carried the fear of what they had witnessed that night.
"At least we won, so there’s that," A’Mila smiled wanly. "But it’s a shame that the hero of the battle is out cold while we celebrate."
"Yeah..." Ahuli smiled.
One of the tribesmen rushed inside their room as if on cue, panting, "He... He’s awake!"
