Chapter 133: Massacre (3)

Ahuli’s words hung in the air while the rest maintained absolute silence. No one wanted to face the Chieftain in a maniacal state.

With a surge of adrenaline, Ahuli pushed the guards aside and strode forward, his eyes scanning the chaotic scene. Their prized beasts lay on the ground, twitching in pain, and the elves were overpowering the tribesmen.

"We got played," Ahuli spat, gripping his spear tightly. "Where are those women?"

"Right where we left them," Skaha replied, pointing at the square.

The enemies hadn’t reached the spot yet, but they were closing in. Ahuli understood that those girls were the key to victory.

Milka, no, Adrian, had shown a deep concern for them, which meant that as long as they had the girls, Adrian would be compelled to fight for them or at least stop the Banur’s advance.

Skaha noticed Ahuli’s gaze and realised what was happening inside his head.

"We can’t get to them," Skaha replied, pointing at the elves charging towards them. "The archers and those fools plan on pinning us here, so we can’t help the rest."

Ahuli remained quiet, analysing the situation. He knew every corner of the settlement and hence could figure out the rough position of the enemy archers. As for the elves, he would also find a way to deal with them.

"Gather your wolves," Ahuli instructed his people. "We’ll charge ahead."

Charging towards the enemy with their numbers was suicide. But none dared to voice their thoughts before Ahuli, not after what he did to the soldier earlier.

They quickly got the wolves while the elves raced towards them with weapons in hand. Without delay, Ahuli kicked his wolf into action, and the rest of the squad did the same. Soon, they were galloping wildly, screaming maniacally to encourage each other.

"Shit!" A’Mila cursed, realising what Ahuli was up to. "Focus on the females!"

Under her command, the archers revealed their position and began firing arrows at the group, hoping to stop them in their tracks. Shu realised the same, instructing the elves to move towards the girls.

The elves were faster, and within moments, they were right in front of Ahuli’s group.

"DO NOT STOP!" Ahuli yelled at the top of his lungs, ignoring the pain in his hands. "Fight through the enemies!"

"STOP THEM AT ALL COST!" Shu rallied the elves behind. "We cannot let them pass!"

When Shu noticed Ahuli leading the troops, his eyes were filled with rage. He remembered his face and knew both A’Mila and Adrian would be pleased if he captured the man alive.

However, it wasn’t going to be that easy. Shu shot numerous arrows aimed at Ahuli, but his men willingly sacrificed themselves to protect their leader.

Frustrated, the elf dropped the bow and drew his sword. However, the crazed tribal proved too much for Shu to handle himself. Ahuli, with his speed and spear, had an advantage over the elf and was about to impale the man, but one of the elves put Shu out of harm’s way, sacrificing himself in the process.

"Lucky bastard," Ahuli clicked his tongue as he rode onwards.

Ahuli might have rushed past Shu, but Skaha was right behind, and he swung a sword in Shu’s direction, aiming for his neck. Thankfully, the elf rolled by the side and slashed at the wolf’s feet, hoping to injure the wolf and bring down the rider with it.

However, Skaha wasn’t born yesterday and had already prepared Sully for such attacks. Two layers of rugged leather had been wrapped around the wolf’s legs, protecting it from such attacks.

"Damn it!" Shu cursed under his breath, and Skaha aimed to deliver the final blow.

But as he was about to bring the sword down, an arrow struck his hand, cleanly severing it from the rest of his body.

"Argh!" Skaha exclaimed as his eyes fell on A’Mila, rushing towards them and riding Bakira. "Ahuli! Watch out!"

Ahuli raised his arm, ready to pierce A’Mila’s chest. But A’Mila was no newbie either. She put one foot on Bakira’s shoulder and used it as a platform to launch herself into the air.

Once in the air, she swung her bow, hitting Ahuli’s injured shoulder. The Chieftain yelped in pain as he lost his balance, and they tumbled to the ground together.

Ahuli’s wolf tried to protect its master, but Bakira pinned the wolf to the ground before biting off its neck. The rest of the squad tried to rush past the elven barrier but got caught, and the elves struck them with all their might.

As the two chieftains rolled away, A’Mila flipped back on her feet while Ahuli was busy caressing his refreshed wound. Without wasting any time, A’Mila dropped her bow and delivered a roundhouse kick to Ahuli, forcing him back to the ground.

Ahuli lay on the ground, his injured shoulder throbbing with pain. His arm hung limp at his side, useless. A’Mila stood before him, her gaze cold as she panted.

Ahuli tried to push himself up with a grunt, but his weakened state betrayed him, and he fell back to the ground.

"It’s over, Ahuli," A’Mila said as the sky thundered over their heads.

"Like hell... it is..." Ahuli scoffed.

A’Mila shook her head, looking at the enemy Chieftain with pity.

Watching her reaction, Ahuli struggled to his feet, gritting his teeth, his good arm trembling with effort. He knew he was at a disadvantage, but he refused to give up without a fight. Even so, A’Mila kicked him again, and he was back on the ground.

As A’Mila moved in for the kill, Ahuli lunged forward with a desperate roar, swinging his one good arm with all his strength. But A’Mila sidestepped effortlessly.

With a swift motion, she delivered a powerful blow to Ahuli’s injured shoulder, causing him to cry out in agony and fall to his knees.

"You’re finished, Ahuli," A’Mila declared, her voice cold and unforgiving.

Ahuli stared at her with deadly eyes. Had it not been for his injury, he would have no problem dealing with the bitch. He wasn’t going to give up, but he couldn’t see any other outcome... till something appeared before his eyes.

[To you want strength?]

The holographic screen read before his eyes. Ahuli had never seen anything like it before and thought he was hallucinating. But then, all of a sudden, the pain in his shoulder diminished, surprising him.

[The entity, Sin of Pride, looks pitifully at the User and offers you his aid. Will the User accept it?]

’Yes...’

[The entity, Sin of Pride, smiles and tells the User not to disgrace his name.]

A’Mila was about to deliver the final blow to Ahuli when she noticed something odd. As if by magic, Ahuli’s wound healed right before A’Mila’s eyes. With a sudden burst of power, he pushed himself up from the ground, surprising A’Mila.

A’Mila tried to attack him, but he kicked her backwards, flexing his healed shoulder. A smirk crossed his lips as he taunted her to come forward, ready to face her again.

A’Mila’s eyes narrowed as she regained her balance; a flicker of surprise was on her face. She had seen something like that before. It was the same as the Nexarian who had attacked them a while ago.

"...Demonic transformation," A’Mila mumbled, contemplating whether she should do the same as only a demon could defeat another.
