Cheat God
14. Bone Scripture

The Ghost Eye had been sealed. Liu Chen stood quietly in the sky, the black, swirling aura slowly fading behind him. The massive eye was now nothing more than a small, dark orb resting in the golden array plate in his hand. He didn’t leave right away.

Instead, his black eyes narrowed as he looked down at the cracked ground below. His soul sense stirred—there was something else down there. Something deeper. Something buried.

“…It's not over yet.”

He descended slowly, landing on a wide crack torn open by the explosion earlier. With a step forward, he leapt into the darkness. The air grew colder as he fell.

Down… deeper… even deeper.

The rocks turned black. Ghost aura lingered like a silent mist. After a few hundred feet, he landed on solid stone. It was silent. He looked around and found himself inside a small underground chamber—a black cave. The whole cave is empty with only single black-robed figure sat in the center. In fact, there wasn’t even a full body. Most of the bones had already turned to dust. Only a few dark, broken bones remained, lying quietly in a faint circle of ghost light.

“…A Ghost Clan member.”

Liu Chen stepped closer. The black robe still covered parts of the bones, but he could clearly see—this wasn’t a normal person. It could be guess that the person should be short with five feet height and thin lean physique. Even after death, the bones gave off a faint pressure. Soul energy lingered faintly around them, filled with resentment and cold power. Like the ghost clan members, he should be proficient in soul technique and ghost energy.

Only one part was untouched by time—the chest bone. Strange silver lines were carved into it. They shimmered slightly, like runes, or maybe some kind of script. Liu Chen’s eyes flashed as he bent down and picked it up.

He tried to read the lines. But the more he looked, the more confusing it became. The runes were complex—ancient, not from any modern language or cultivation system. Even with his Golden Soul Sense, he couldn’t understand it fully. It was like trying to read a dream.

“Is this guy related to ghost eye or he was previously user of ghost eye. Ghost eye has not appeared for thousands of years in the world. Then this skeleton should be at least thousands of year old.”

He placed the chest bone carefully into his spatial ring. Then, he looked around again. The cave was quiet. Still. Not even a breeze. He searched through the remains—but there was nothing else.

"What kind of tomb is this. At least store some heavenly techniques. How poor.."

No weapons. No treasures. No scrolls.

Almost all the bones had faded into black dust, leaving behind only this faint trace of a once-great being. Still, Liu Chen could feel it—this person had once been powerful. A true master of the Ghost Clan. Perhaps… even one of the last survivors.

And now, Liu Chen had found what remained. He looked once more at the empty space, his voice soft.

“You died here alone… but your legacy will live on.”

....

He turned back and rose into the air, leaving the tomb behind. Above, the wind had stopped.

"A true cultivation treasure," he murmured. "Ten out of ten drama. Protagonist-style entrance."

Behind him, Cai Lin floated upward on her flying sword, clearly shaken. Her breathing was uneven, her body covered in sweat. With her lack of experience she didn't recognise its origin, but only knows that it is some kind of treasure, quite dark treasure.

“He… really sealed it,” she whispered.

Liu Chen gave her a casual smile and landed beside her.

“Of course. That’s how the script works, doesn’t it?”

“What script?”

He blinked innocently. “The one where the misunderstood genius risks his life, grabs the treasure first, and confuses everyone else.”

She opened her mouth, but a strange wind swept past. Liu Chen's expression changed subtly. His golden-black eyes narrowed toward the sky.

BOOM!

Space cracked above the ruined city. Then, dozens—no, hundreds—of spiritual lights tore across the sky like meteors.

Elders from various ancient clans and sects arrived, their auras suppressing the heavens. Sword essence, lightning pressure, divine beast shadows, and bloodline roars—everything arrived at once.

Cai Lin’s face paled. “The old generation…”

“They sensed it too,” Liu Chen muttered, eyes twinkling. “So fast. I was hoping for at least a tea break.”

These weren’t ordinary elders. They were the guardians left behind—those who stayed outside the secret realm to watch over their disciples, now storming in after juniors fled in panic. A few young survivors had warned them:

"There was a giant black hole in the sky!"

"It corrupted minds of people and kiled hundred of youngster!"

"It should be some kind of dark treasure !"

Of course, they didn’t believe it at first. Until they felt the lingering pulse of underworld power. Now, they were here—to find the truth.

Among them floated two elderly men clad in black and white. Their eyes gleamed with deep wisdom, and their movements were synchronized—mirror images of each other. They were the Yin-Yang Elders—guardians of the Ancient Liu Clan.

One whispered, “Young Master was here."

The other nodded, “At least he is safe otherwise we would have hard time to return.”

Both looked down toward the devastated land, then at the swirling remnants of ghost aura still lingering in the air.

Before they could approach, Liu Chen turned to Cai Lin and pressed his lips near her ear ."It seems we can't enjoy some good journey. But if we meet again... I WILL EAT YOU UP.
