Cheat God
13. Collecting Treasure

Liu Chen lounged on his crimson-gold sofa like a ruler watching an unfinished performance. His slender fingers wiped the sweet juice from his lips, while his other arm rested around Cai Lin’s soft waist.

But then, the ground below trembled. It wasn’t like before—a small quake or hidden danger. This time, the tremor was alive, like something deep beneath the city had finally decided to wake up.

CRACK!

The earth split open right beneath the ruined tower. Glowing red lines raced across the ground like veins, spreading out in all directions. A strange, cold wind howled through the city streets, carrying with it the scent of rotting blood and something worse—death.

The sky darkened. Not with clouds, but something more unnatural. Liu Chen lifted his golden-black gaze upward. Above the ruined city, a black mist spread across the sky like ink spilling into water. It moved slowly, but swallowed everything in sight—sunlight, stars, color, even sound. The world became gray and cold. Then, from the giant hole in the center of the city, it came.

Endless black aura.

It was not mist, not smoke, but something heavier. Ghostly, thick, and full of dark resentment. It surged upward from the ground like a black tornado, twisting and spinning toward the sky. And above… the blackness began to take shape.

Liu Chen’s smile deepened.

“Ah, now it feels like a proper story,” he said, like a reader flipping to the best chapter.

Far below, the few remaining cultivators still alive in the ruined city began to scream. Their faces turned pale as they stared at the sky. Some dropped their weapons. Others turned and ran—toward the city gates, toward the broken walls, toward anywhere but here.

They didn’t need anyone to tell them this was no normal event.

Something had gone horribly wrong.

BOOM!

A sudden blast of ghostly pressure crashed down on the city. One of the fleeing cultivators exploded into black dust before he even made it five steps. The rest ran faster. And then, in the sky… it opened.

A giant black eye.

It appeared suddenly, like the clouds had been peeled away to reveal what was hidden behind the sky.

The eye was enormous, as wide as a mountain. Its sclera was deep black, and at its center, a spiraling gray iris slowly turned. There was no pupil—only endless rings of soul-sucking darkness. And in the middle of it, a faint silver rune pulsed with every rotation.

The eye didn’t blink. It didn’t even move.

But every soul that looked at it… felt seen.

This was the legendary Ghost Eye.

An ancient underworld eye, said to appear only in the darkest places where death and resentment gathered for centuries. It was not alive, but not dead either. It could spy into souls, pierce through secrets, and corrupt the minds of the weak. Once, it was used in ancient wars to erase entire sects from the World. Liu chen stood slowly.

“So beautiful,” he whispered.

Cai Lin stepped back, her body trembling slightly. “we must leave! That thing or eye… is too dangerous !”

But Liu Chen only chuckled. His eyes gleamed with madness and excitement.

“Leave?” he said, spreading his arms like he was embracing the chaos. “No, this is exactly what I’ve been waiting for.”

He looked up at the Ghost Eye.“It’s still incomplete. Still unstable. That’s the perfect time.”

Liu Chen soared upward like a shadow in the night, cutting through the ghost aura as he rose higher and higher. The Ghost Eye stared down at him, unmoving. Its gaze should have turned him to dust. Its pressure should have crushed him.

But Liu Chen only laughed.

“This is just like a cultivation event from the old novels. Big eye, ghost fog, and a chosen one flying up to snatch the treasure.”

He reached near the edge of the giant eye. The air here was thick, almost like mud, and it pressed against his skin. Each breath felt like fire in his lungs. But Liu Chen didn’t stop.

He raised one hand. He took out a small disc plate, golden runes spun into the air, forming a seal. This was a sealing treasure he had prepared long ago, after reading the broken records of an ancient scripture—Soul Locking Cage array.

The moment the formation appeared, the Ghost Eye reacted.

BOOM!!!

A shockwave of ghost energy exploded outward. The entire city below shattered further—towers falling, corpses dissolving, the very stone turning black. But Liu Chen stayed firm. He poured spiritual power into the runes, forcing the eye to stop its rotation.

“Got you,” he said coldly.

The Ghost Eye shuddered. A deep, voiceless scream echoed through the sky, not in sound, but in the minds of all who heard it.

Far from the city, those who had escaped stopped and looked back. What they saw made them drop to their knees.

A single man—cloaked in black and gold—floating in front of a cosmic eye that covered the heavens, arms raised like a god trying to bind the sky itself.

And the eye… was shrinking.

The dark clouds began to spin, pulled into the swirling gray spiral of the Ghost Eye. The endless black aura poured back toward it like rivers returning to the sea.

Liu Chen’s voice rang out, low and calm.

“I bind your gaze, seal your will, and claim your eye.”

The final rune flashed.

BOOM!

Even after using every means, Ghost eye still couldn't release from the array prison. It has awake not long ago that why it's power could only rival a Lord realm warrior but Soul locking array isn't one of them. In just few minutes, it shrunk in a size of normal human eye with array prison plate. With just flick, Liu Chen catch array plate in his palm.
