Chapter 448: Meet me, now...

[Ryan’s apartment]

Ever since Linda left that morning, Ryan had been trying to reach her. He had been calling her but she wasn’t answering his calls.

After getting neglected for so long, he finally decided to visit her home. Though he knew he wasn’t welcomed there yet he took the courage to go and check on her by sneaking into her room.

As soon as his car stopped outside the mansion gates, he patiently waited for an opportunity to sneak inside.

As his eyes kept staring toward the house, a deep frown marred his face when he watched Karl stepping out of the main door along with Linda.

Suddenly something clicked in his mind and his eyes darkened in realization.

"So this is the reason why she isn’t answering my calls" Ryan muttered gritting his teeth.

He had been worried for her ever since he saw the blood stain on the sheet next to him. He thought in his anger he might have done something that he shouldn’t do but guessed his concern was for nothing.

His insecurities once again started to kick in. If he was the old Ryan he would’ve been happy to finally see their plan work, but why wasn’t he happy at all?

He had a feeling that if Linda happened to marry Karl, he would end up losing everything, and her lack of response was the biggest red flag.

As he kept glaring at them, meanwhile inside the gates, Karl bid his goodbye to Linda and soon drove out of the mansion gate.

Inside the moving car, Karl once again called Gwen. Their conversation earlier got interrupted because of Linda who kept on tailing him from time to time.

After giving Charles his nod to marry his granddaughter, Karl excused himself. He just wanted to ease his thoughts and process and Gwen was the only source who could calm him.

When he told her everything there was a long silence from her end and in that delay, Linda decided to interrupt him leaving his conversation halfway. Now that he was finally out of her sight, he immediately called Gwen.

While Karl was waiting for her to answer his call, his eyes moved toward the side mirror and he noticed Ryan’s car tailing him.

"Why is he following me?" he muttered.

Ryan had no idea that Karl knew about his relationship with Linda, so instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt, he decided to act normal.

As the ring continued, Gwen finally answered the call. "Hello Karl did you leave?" she asked.

Gwen was busy with some work and had put her phone on silent mode. It was his luck that she happened to notice the blinking light on the screen or else she would have missed his call.

"Yes I did, but there is someone who is following me" Karl kept his face normal without showing any sign of suspicion.

Glancing at the mirror he noticed Ryan’s eyes on him. "And I don’t think he will leave that easily" he added confusing Gwen.

Keeping quiet for a few seconds finally, realization struck her mind and she gaped," Don’t tell me Ryan is after you"

Karl was amused when she easily guessed his words. "Hmm... but I don’t know why he is following me"

He was sure that after today, Linda would be entirely convinced by him and would decline Ryan from monitoring them, but now he felt like he assumed it wrong.

"Maybe Linda asked him to" Gwen responded the obvious.

"I doubt" came his reply to which Gwen frowned once again.

"Keep talking to me. I don’t want Ryan to doubt me or else I am sure he will inform Linda" Karl didn’t want to act suspicious because he knew Ryan was following him with some motives, so he decided to act normal until he reached Skylar Corpse.

Meanwhile, Ryan stopped his car a little behind Karl’s and fumed. His blood was boiling with jealously thinking if Karl was talking with Linda the entire drive.

Don’t know why he felt like their relationship developed because she told him she was pregnant with his child. He knew Linda would go to any extent to make her plan work. He too supported her, but now he started to regret his decision.

"I have to remind Linda that she is mine and so is the child" Clutching the steering wheel he watched Karl step out of his car and enter the building.

Once the man was out of his sight he pulled out his phone and called Linda. He doubted whether she would answer him but to his surprise just after three rings his call was taken.

"What is it Ryan" Linda’s annoyed voice crashed into his ears and his eyes instantly turned dark.

"It should be me who should flare at you, Linda. For two days I have been trying to reach you and you dare to ignore my calls. May I know why?" he asked.

Though Ryan was calm there was a glint of coldness in his tone that made Linda drop her anger a little.

"A-And why should I always answer your calls? Don’t you know I am busy with work" Linda stuttered as she responded.

Ryan noticed her hesitation and said," I want to meet you, now...." his demanding voice left Linda speechless for a few seconds.

Without waiting for her reply, he hung up the call and texted her to meet him at his apartment.

Today he wanted to confront her. Though he always neglected her having feelings for Karl, but deep down he knew she was having a change of heart.

And before she would completely forget him, he had to remind her.

Linda on the other hand was stunned when he ended the call abruptly. Her face crumpled at his audacity and she tossed her phone on the bed in annoyance.

She was tired of Ryan’s constant insecurity. The way he had been acting lately cost her child’s life.

’But she can’t let him know that’ she reminded herself and looked around the room as a sudden wave of panic hit her sanity.
