Chapter 373: A dream

Gwen eyed Karl with disbelief before she moved her eyes to look at Linda who just smirked at her.

Gwen gaped at the girl as she opened her mouth to speak but before she could utter a word Linda quickly changed her expression into a hurtful one and sniffed.

"I am sorry Gwen I didn’t mean to create a misunderstanding." Her fake sobbing irked Gwen even more. She wondered how can someone be this wicked to change their words to lie.

Gwen for a second thought if she had hallucinated that smirk on her face as she quickly changed her expressions but now when she watched her sob her blood boiled in anger.

Her instinct can never be wrong because she knows herself and she knows the woman in front of her.

"It’s okay Linda. That’s not what Gwen meant to say, right Gwen" Karl quickly intervene when he noticed how Gwen never blinked her eyes had kept staring at Linda with utmost hate.

Karl’s words snapped her out of her thoughts and she quickly turned to look at him. Blinking her eyes at his calm face she then forced a smile and looked at Linda.

"You happen to take my joke seriously Linda" she lied making both Karl and Linda look at her with shock.

’She wasn’t joking at all’ Karl thought, aware of every cell of Gwen’s body.

The way she was glaring at Linda like a raging bull, he thought she might just go and attack her.

Linda pursed her lips into a thin line when she watched how keenly Gwen was observing her with that fake smile on her face.

’This bitch...’ Linda sneered mentally watching Gwen’s mocking eyes. She just wanted to rip that smile off her face. And she would do it as soon as possible.

Gwen has been the biggest hurdle in her path and she wanted to eliminate her by giving a tight slap on her face.

She will snatch her man right in front of her eyes, letting her go through the same humiliation she goes through whenever she mocks her back.

Composing herself Linda bobbed her head before they resumed back their work. Once she was done discussing the points, Linda left the cabin.

Once the door closed Karl turned to see Gwen who kept typing something furiously.

"What was that earlier Gwen?" he asked staring at her keenly but when she didn’t see her stop her hands which kept tapping on the keyboard ready to break it, Karl forcefully swirled her chair making her face him.

Gwen gasped when her chair turned with Karl caging her by resting both his hands on the armrest.

"What are you doing? Leave me, I have work to finish" Gwen wasn’t in any mood to explain to him. She just wanted to work and forget that image of Linda leaning over Karl like a lizard.

Karl watched her struggle on the chair before he let go of his hand over the armrest. "Fine! Do you work" saying he stood up from his chair and walked out of the cabin in fury.

If she wanted to be like this, then he would let her be and won’t disturb her anymore.

After spending much time at the Brown Mansion both the couples drove back to their respective house.

Ashley was now at peace to let her father stay in the mansion without any worries.

As soon as they reach the Knight Mansion, both Ashley and Tristan made their way towards their bedroom.

Tossing her bag aside, Ashley lay on the bed with her eyes slowly turning heavy and soon she drifted off to sleep whereas Tristan just sat next to her with his eyes admiring the sleeping beauty.

Tristan was content to see that peaceful sleep on her face which he haven’t been able to see since the day they learned about Richard being in trouble in his own house.

Caressing her hair for a few minutes he climbed down the bed and entered the bathroom. After taking a quick shower, he stepped out and walked towards the couch, and began to work.

While Tristan was busy doing his work, Ashley stirred in her sleep. "No.. please don’t do it.." her entire body broke into a sweat as she kept muttering something.

She was having a bad dream but she felt it all real as she began to cry hysterically.

Alarmed by her sudden reaction, Tristan quickly dashed to her side and started calling her name.

"Ash.. wake up. Hey.." cupping her face he lightly patted her cheeks.

Tears kept streaming down from the corner of her eyes as she kept mumbling the same words. She sounded like she was begging someone but Tristan quickly dodged off those thoughts and focused on Ashley instead.

Ashley was still stuck in the same dream snapped opened her eyes, jerking up her body as she sat on the bed panting.

Quickly bringing her hands over her stomach she started caressing her belly as if she was checking her baby.

Her mind couldn’t erase the terrifying dream of her baby getting killed as she kept bleeding down until darkness succumbed her mind and she woke up from the dream.

Tristan who was startled by her reaction called her name and watched her turn to face him. Her eyes were terrified as she met his blue orbs and broke down into tears as she hugged him tightly.

Tristan had no clue what dream she had seen to get so scared. She did stop crying nor did he stop her. If she was traumatized by something then she had to let it out. It was the only way to feel better.

Tristan just kept caressing her back until she relaxed but she didn’t let his embrace. She kept hugging him as if it was the only place that could keep her sane away from all the fears.

"Won’t you ask me what dream I had?" Ashley asked out of the blue but didn’t raise her head to look at him.

"Only if you want to" he answered and it was then she pulled away a little and craned her neck up.

Ashley heaved out a shaky breath as she didn’t dare to speak but she also knew she has to share her emotions. Shutting her eyes close she opened them and looked straight into his eyes.

"I saw myself getting shot. The bullet hit my stomach and I felt.." her lips tremble as she couldn’t speak anymore.

"Shh... nothing happened to you nor anything to our baby. It was just a dream" Tristan senses her fear and quickly embraced her as he tried to coax her gently.

"I know... but it appeared so real Tristan.." she again sobbed in his embrace. She looked like a fragile child who was scared of a mere dream.

For Tristan, it was just a hallucination but for Ashley, she felt like living it. Though it was just a few minute’s dream but it was very much vivid to shock her rational thoughts.
