Chapter 64: Chapter 64: I’m not used to this separation anymore (IV)
Alex gave her a kiss on her neck, which made her body tense and her heart raced uncontrollably.
The moment she opened her eyes, Alex already let her go, "Let’s have dinner first. I’m starving, since I’ve been waiting for you."
Eve stared at Alex, who was walking to the dining hall. She put her palm on her chest, where she could feel her racing heartbeat.
Her cheeks were flushed red, and her brain turned to mush.
"I don’t understand you, Alex, nor do I understand myself," Eve murmured. "What do you want from me, and what do I want from you?"

Alex and Eve ate dinner in peace today. It was supposed to be her turn to make dinner for them, but since she was busy in the office, Alex had to prepare dinner again.
It made her feel a little guilty because it was obvious that he took this ’making and having dinner together’ as a part of a routine that they needed to follow.
’I can see how he puts his heart into this food,’ Eve thought as she took another spoonful of a delicious beef curry.
"I’ll be in my study again today. I have a few things to check," Alex stated as he finished dinner.
"I-I see..." Eve nodded and paused for a second, before adding, "When will you go to bed then?"
"Huh? Uh..." Alex was surprised by the question, mostly because it never crossed his mind when he had to go to bed.
He was never a punctual person who would follow a strict schedule, unlike Eve, who was very self-disciplined.
"Probably eleven? Twelve? One? I’m not sure," Alex replied vaguely as he was also pondering when was the right time to sleep. "You know that I only sleep when I feel like it."
"Why are you still keeping that habit?"
"It’s a habit for a reason. Just because we were separated for two years, doesn’t mean I lost all of my habits when I was with you," Alex defended himself.
Eve knew that very well. One of the complaints she had about Alex was how irregular his sleeping schedule was.
He didn’t have a 9-5 job when they dated, but still brought money home as he said he had a few ’side gigs’.
But Eve always scolded him for sleeping at four or even five in the morning. It wasn’t healthy for him, since his eyebags could be very prominent from time to time.
"Why are you asking this?" Alex asked.
"N-nothing," Eve replied nervously. "I just thought that you need to have a good sleep every night. Getting tired constantly will only harm your body and mind."
"Hmm?" Alex raised his brow as he teased. "What is this? The Iron Lady from the Red Lass Agency is worrying about me? That’s rare!"
"I-I’ve always said the same thing when we were still dating!" Eve shouted with a red hue on her cheeks.
Alex chuckled out of mirth, "But you know that I’ve always been a night owl. It’s difficult for me to sleep unless I feel comfortable or just tired."
"Comfortable?"
"I usually fall asleep after sex," Alex replied curtly. "Or hugging you in bed should be enough to make me comfortable."
"Y-You’ve always spooned me in bed before, and still became a night owl."
"It was a little different back then," Alex said while staring at Eve meaningfully. "Back then, I didn’t know that losing you would be so devastating. Now, I could kill—or pay a huge amount of money just to hug you to sleep."
"Uhm... okay then, let’s do it..." Eve nodded, full of assurance.
"Do what?" Alex teased again.
"D-don’t act dumb, Alex. If sleeping with me can make you fall asleep faster, then I... I’m fine with it," Eve said bashfully.
"Is this compensation for helping you today?"
"W-well, I was supposed to be stuck inside the office for the next six months. Since you helped me, you’ve paid for all my nights for the next six months," Eve reasoned, although her increasingly flustered voice revealed her nervousness. "It’s only fair..."
Honestly, Alex never had this idea when he paid for that financial damage to the Honor company. He simply did it so Eve wouldn’t have to suffer, and they could have a nice dinner together every night.
But he wouldn’t be a man if he turned down such a tempting offer.
Hence, he played along and agreed, "You’re right. It’s only fair that I get some kind of compensation for losing so much money. I’ll take that offer to sleep with you for the next six months, then."
"J-just sleep, okay? Nothing else..." Eve reiterated bashfully, trying her best not to sound perverted. She was thinking about it for a second, and quickly realized that it was impossible to make it ’just sleep’. Not after they spent the night of intimacy the night before.
Thus, she added, "Well, maybe doing that once or twice a week will be fine..."
Alex hadn’t said anything, but it seemed that Eve felt guilty after Alex had to pay so much, even though it was his responsibility to protect and save her to begin with.
Nevertheless, he was more than happy with the arrangement she proposed, ’And about having sex once or twice a week... we both know it’ll be much more than that.’
Alex didn’t have to proactively try to persuade Eve, knowing she would fold the moment she was kissed.
One thing he was very fond of Eve was how sweet and soft she was once a man had broken through her iron heart.
’That’s why I can’t let you be close to another man, not after I stupidly let you go for two years, Love,’ Alex thought. ’Any man will get addicted to you, and I don’t need competition when I’m not even sure if you’ll stay with me in the end.’
"I’ll gladly take that offer," Alex said as he stood up. "But I still have a few things to deal with in my study. Go and take a rest first. I’ll be there at midnight."
