Roger didn’t show an ounce of fear even when he was confronted by Alex. He was confident that he still held an important position for Hugh, especially because he was Hugh Langford’s brother-in-law.

If Alex wasn’t competent, Roger was certain he would be the one inheriting all of Langford’s estate and businesses. But now that his nephew had proven himself to be a savvy businessman and was able to control the Langford family at such a young age, Roger realized that he had to eliminate his nephew somehow.

"Since you can’t be fooled, then yes, I was the one who told Pierre to leak the document that he stole from that little whore’s office. What? Do you think that I’m scared just because she’s pregnant with your child?"

Alex gnashed his teeth. He rushed towards Roger and grabbed his collar.

He lifted the fat man with ease and clenched his fist, ready to punch Roger until he knew how to humble himself.

However, before he could do that, Roger suddenly said, "Go on, punch me. I’m sure that your father will love knowing that you’d punch your uncle just for an unassuming woman. He would think that you’ll be unfit to lead the family."

Alex paused for a second before he threw his full-power punch and aimed it at his stomach, making the fat man turn pale the moment he got punched.

"URK!"

Alex let go of his grasp, and Roger fell to the ground, writhing in pain as he tried to cover his stomach.

"Y-You—You fucker! How dare you!" Roger cursed out loud in between his pain. "I will tell your father about this! He will believe me and force you to leave that woman alone!"

Alex looked down at his uncle like he was watching an insect writhing and ready to die.

"Listen, you fat leech. I respect my father, but that doesn’t mean I’m scared of him. Usually, I’d just let this go and give you a little smack at the back of your head for making me busy," Alex said in a low voice. "But not this time. You’ve crossed the line when you call my woman a ’whore’. She is far more honorable than any of the Langfords will ever be."

Roger’s eyes widened. He was fuming as he realized that Alex was serious about that woman, "Y-You! You’re going to regret this! Everyone in the family will go against you!"

"Oh, fuck off! All of you are just a bunch of parasites that can’t live without me and my father’s influence," Alex rolled his eyes. There was no ounce of fear in his eyes.

He has never been scared of his family since he was young, yet he treats them fairly.

If they dared to harm his beloved, then he didn’t mind a little bloodshed.

"Wow, you dare to punch your uncle for a woman. I’m impressed," Nora commented sarcastically. "This is the first time you’ve ever done something like this. Say, son, may I know who this special woman is?"

Alex glared at his mother.

Despite her gentle look, she was anything but gentle.

Alex could list all of the childhood abuse that he endured, alongside all the horrible things she did to ruin their family. Recalling those things would only make his heart ache, and he knew damn well this woman was the cause of everything based on Josh’s report.

"Don’t try to act innocent, you wretched bitch. I know that you’re the one who has been spying on me all this time. Roger and Pierre must’ve known about Evelyn from you, right?!"

Nora didn’t even bother pretending to be surprised. She knew her son was quite perceptive. After all, he was the first one to notice that Nora had been cheating behind Hugh’s back.

Nevertheless, she had set everything up according to plan, so she replied, "Even if I knew about it, I wouldn’t dare to interfere. I never told your uncle to do anything. He just acted on his whim."

Alex looked at his uncle, and Roger said nothing. He knew that Roger had his pride, so when he stayed silent like this, it was like an affirmation of Nora’s statement.

Alex gritted his teeth, before turning around and walking towards the door as he felt suffocated for staying in the same room as these two, "This is my last warning, if you dare to tell Pierre to leak the document from Eve’s company once more, then I will turn this building upside down!"

"And don’t think that you’ll be off the hook, you wretched bitch!" Alex yelled at his mother before he slammed the door shut and left.

"Urgh... that bastard punched me so hard. I thought I’d puke my guts out," Roger complained as he slowly got up from the floor. He dropped his weight on the sofa while rubbing his belly, "Alex has always been brutal to everyone in the Langford family. Are you sure that we still have to continue with our plan of leaking those confidential documents?"

"It’s just a little punch. It shouldn’t hurt that much, right?" Nora asked sarcastically.

"Are you kidding me? It hurts like hell!"

Nora giggled, "Just continue with our plan. We can’t let them have peace. Alex needs to understand that he should not choose that kind of woman as his wife."

"Because Evelyn’s mother is a whore?" Roger asked.

Nora smiled mysteriously, staring at the door where Alex left just now.

"I heard that your son is dating Evelyn’s mother right now."

"Heh, I wouldn’t say dating. Pierre is whipped for Evelyn, but her mother can do it as a substitute," Roger scoffed. "After all, her mother is a whore—a real one that you can pay."

"Then, why don’t you set up a meeting between her mother and I?" Nora asked. "My son has always called me a bitch. So, it’d be a meeting between a bitch and a whore. How novel."

"Don’t call yourself a bitch. You’re better than that," Roger’s tone softened. He stared at Nora with a meaningful gaze and said, "Nora, my reward..."

"Oh, right," Nora leaned towards Roger and planted a short kiss at the edge of his lips. "Thank you for helping me, Roger... honey."
