Chapter 98: Like An Interrogation
Chapter 98: Like An Interrogation
Jules’ pov
I undoubtably trusted him so much and wouldn’t mind him finding out who I really am.
Although I’m a little bit skeptical because he might not want me after finding out that I’m technically just a human right now, because of my lack of powers. He might not even want me with my powers, since I’m not actually a werewolf like I’ve been lying this entire time.
It ate at my insides so much and I tried not to think about it too much because in a way, a part of me was certain– and hopeful that he wouldn’t care about that.
There was a lot of questions I wanted to ask him, like if he was jealous after seeing that omega in Xander’s arms today. It didn’t seem like he had cared because he didn’t spare the omega a single glance, but I couldn’t be so sure.
But I felt like a hypocrite for wanting reassurance from him when i’ve literally been lying to his face. Thinking about it was making me sick to my stomach and I reminded myself that I really do need to go see Andrian today so I could have that conversation with him.
Once our breakfast arrived, I dug In immediately because I was extremely famished.
After a few moments, I glanced up on feeling Blaze’s gaze on me and this time, he let out a low chuckle and then he whipped out his phone and took s picture of me before I could blink.
"You look so much like a bunny right now that I couldn’t help myself." He drawled and I felt my cheeks flush in embarrassment as I hurriedly chewed and swallowed the food in my mouth minutes ago.
"Why did you take a picture? I definitely looked horrible in it." I whined while my color crept up my neck and over my cheeks. Blaze snickered as he stared at his phone for a moment longer before placing it on the table beside him.
"I like the picture, whenever I see it, I’m gonna remember this moment." He announced as he picked up his fork and began to eat.
Even though I could feel my heartbeat accelerate, I couldn’t help but still feel embarrassed at the thought of him having to look at that picture ever again.
After a few moments, I returned back to eating my meal because I was still feeling pretty famished.
We were done in no time and I felt extremely full, so full that it felt like I was about to burst. Feeling completely satisfied right now means that I have also grown drowsy, but now wasn’t the time to fall asleep.
"You alright, bunny?" Blaze’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts and when I nodded slowly, the side of his lips twitched.
"Wanna come sleep on my chest? You’re about to fall off that chair." He drawled in a teasing voice and that was enough to pull me out of most of the drowsiness clinging to my brains.
I let out a small huff and glanced around a little to be certain no one heard him.
"We’re in public." I announced, like that wasn’t obvious enough.
Blaze only snorted and rolled his eyes. "So?"
I bit on my bottom lip, having nothing else to say and feelimg wild awake once again.
I watched as Blaze motioned a waiter over and handed his card over. Once the waiter left with his card, he leaned back against his seat and focused all his attention on me. I squirmed a little because I wasn’t sure I’d ever fully get used to having his complete attention on me like this.
"So, what do you wanna do today?" He asked with his head cocked sideways. My heartbeat picked up at once snd i swallowed emptily before reaching for the rest of my milkshake and taking a sip from it.
"I, uh... I planned to go see my guardian." I responded and he hummed while nodding his head a little.
"You see your guardian a lot?" He asked and I shook my head.
"Not a lot, unless when super important, I guess." I responded, which was the truth. I didn’t go to see Andrian just to hang out, the times I’ve gone to see him were because I had to.
"Who’s this guardian? Are you close with them?" He asked after about a minute, right after his card got returned and the waiter excused himself once again.
I shifted a little in my seat, starting to grow tense because this was starting to feel like an interrogation. I cleared my throat a little before starting to speak.
"He’s actually my mother’s friend and I won’t say we’re close, but we’re not strangers. We’ve been through... a lot together." I revealed, and because that was the truth. He was the one who rescued me and knows my true identity, so we’ve undoubtedly been through a lot together.
Blaze hummed in response, and it was obvious that he was currently in deep thoughts.
He finally leaned towards the table as he began to speak this time.
"There’s a lot of things which I thought we could do together today, but since you already have today planned to pay your guardian a visit, that can’t work any longer." He informed me as he pushed his chair back and stood up.
I felt extremely disappointed and contemplated anceling on Andrian and his witch friend right now, without even thinking twice.
But I really do want to unlock my powers. That’s like the only thing I have left which connected me to my roots and my family and it’s really really important to me.
Which was why even though I was sad that I wouldn’t get to spend the rest of the day with Blaze, I was feeling excited at the thought of finally getting my powers unsealed. I’ll also get to have that important conversation with Andrian.
And besides I’d be coming back to Blaze, he isn’t going anywhere. I reminded myself just as Blaze and I began to head towards the doorway.
I glanced around the interior of the restaurant one last time, trying to commit it to memory.
However, I slowed to a stop in complete horror as my eyes landed on the flat screen at the far end of the restaurant, because right there on the television was my face, plastered boldly and impossibly clearly. On the television, I had bright blue eyes and hair so blond that it was almost white.
Under my picture, was a note in clear handwriting.
Labyrinth Blaise Shadowthorn.

Panic and bile flared inside of me at an extremely fast pace. My head started to spin and I stopped breathing completely, especially when blaze began to turn towards the television as well.
