Chapter 94: Can’t Outsmart The Smartest
Jules’ pov
Blaze’s thumb dug into the spot which he had just burned and Kim cried out in pain. Tears were rolling down his cheeks and I was finding it hard to keep watching.
It was insane that I was feeling immense sympathy for him, someone who literally had a hand in getting me abducted.
"If you chose to back stab me, Kim, pray to the heavens that you end up getting killed by those against me... because if you don’t, I’m gonna make it hurt really badly for you, because I won’t start from you."
"I’ll start from your little sister."
Kim’s head snapped up, wet eyes widening and mouth dropping open.
His chin wobbled, he tried to speak, but nothing came forth.
"I wont tell you what I’m gonna do to her, that’s a surprise for now. Don’t try taking any funny movies, because I’m gonna find out. If you make a single mistake, just one mistake, I’m gonna start by digging a hole in this spot." As Blaze spoke, he dug his thumb deeper into the burned spot of Kim’s wrist and he let out a pained scream, hand trembling and growing red before Blaze finally dropped it.
"I won’t betray you, I- I promise." Kim whispered frantically, holding his hand against his chest as he sobbed beyond control.
"It’s for your own good after all." Blaze drawled out, mouth twitching a little before he turned away from Kim and walked towards the table in the middle of the room to pick up a drink which I hadn’t noticed on it until right now.
"Please don’t hurt her, please." Kim cried out frantically and when I glanced at him, I realized that he was currently on his knees.
Blaze chugged down a few mouthful of the alcoholic drink on the table before throwing a glance at Kim from across his shoulder.
"Drop the act, Kim. You don’t care about her this much. You’re not as smart as you think." Blaze snapped and Kim flinched, inching backwards in his kneeling position.
Blaze rolled his eyes as he sat on the table, a few inches away from the spot Kim was still kneeling in.
"You haven’t seen your little sister in years. You don’t care about her, you’re acting this way on purpose in order to deceive me into thinking you care about losing her, when you actually don’t." As Blaze spoke, he reached forward and grasped Kim’s hair in a grip so tight, it was like he was about to rip his hair off his scalp.
"You’ve barely started working for me and yet you’ve tried outsmarting me." He snarled in Kim’s face before slapping him so hard, it echoed in my ear and made me wince while my heart climbed into my throat as I watched Blaze in his full glory.
This was the second time I’d be seeing Blaze like this, and it still manages to leave me shocked and gobsmacked that this is the same person who sucked a mark against my throat this morning. Moments like this reveals to me the person which the entire school is afraid of.
In a way, I understand them. I’d be scared too if I haven’t gotten to wake up in his arms more than once.
"This is your problem, Kim. You believe you’re actually smart, that you can kill multiple birds with a stone, not knowing that said stone is gonna end up leaving a dent in your empty head, which would inturn get you killed."
"You don’t care about your sister. You don’t care about your brothers, or even your parents, because last I checked, you were cut off from the inheritance. The one thing you care about is power and fame. If you chose to go against me, I’m gonna break every bit of you to pieces by ruining everything you’ve worked for before finally snapping your neck. Are we clear?"
Kim nodded once as two fat teardrops rolled down his cheeks. He wasn’t hysterical right now like he was at the mention of his sister. Instead, his eyes appeared almost glassy, and his lips wobbled as two more teardrops rolled down his cheeks.
I felt completely floored at the scene unfolding before me right now. Blaze shoved Kim aside and he literally crumbled on the ground, not making a sound, but clearly breaking into a thousand pieces on the inside.
It made me feel chills, because for one, I had completely believed that he actually cared for his sister.
How Blaze had been able to see right through him left me in shock, it left me feeling self conscious and nervous all of s sudden because if Blaze could see right through Kim, someone who looked like he was better than a lot of professional actors, then it means he had always been able to effortlessly see right through me each time I lied to his face.
My heart began to pound against my ribs and I shifted a little in the couch, watching as Blaze rose to his full height and nodded towards the doorway.
"Get out, Kim. I’ll summon you when I’m ready to assign you your first mission. Make any wrong move and that’s the end." Blaze voice was cold as he spoke and Kim flinched before rising to his feet robotically, hands trembling as he reached for his bag and sling it over his shoulder.
"Thank you for sparing my life." He uttered, voice thick with emotions and then he turned around and walked out of the room. A few moments later, I heard him step out of the front door.
Blaze and I were alone once again, I swallowed emptily and shifted a little in my seat. My heart began to race as Blaze walked towards me and stopped before me.
He reached for my wrist and tugged me out of the couch in a single go. A sound got stuck in my throat as I got pulled into his chest, causing me to press my hand against his chest on reflex, eyes wide as I blinked up at him.
He brushed my hair out of my face, touch soft as his fingers grazed my cheeks, a sharp contrast from how he just finished treating Kim, moments ago.
"Let’s go get breakfast."
