Chapter 93: Questioning

Jules’ pov

Blaze’s father reminded me of my father. I’ve only heard a few things about him, but so far, he sounded as scary and ruthless as my father was, but worse.

Kim had to take a few moments to gather himself together first, and that was when I noticed how dim his face was. He’s usually full of life, like an energy radiation embodiment. But right now, it looked like the life has been sucked right out of him.

"They um, they believed what I told them, that we were ambushed and Jules got rescued by the anonymous person." He finally started to speak and Blaze hummed in response, right before his fingers started to trace weird lines against the lower part of my stomach, above the cotton material of my top.

"But, they found it hard to believe that I was left alive..." Kim trailed off to inhale deeply, and his eyes darted around for a moment before he continued.

"They believed I was working with someone, that I killed Eugene myself and freed Jules, or something really similar to that, especially after nothing could be found on the cctv when they ordered for it to be checked." He further revealed and I felt my heart start to race a little.

I was beyond creeped out that a bunch of people had their eyes on me, like I was some toy on a shelf or something, like I wasn’t a person with rights and all. It was disturbing to think about to be honest, especially when the creepy people who had their eyes on me, are people involved with this school.

Makes me wonder how this school is still in existence till date.

"How were you able to get out of the situation?" Blaze’s gruff voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I focused on Kim once again, who seemed to have grown significantly nervous than he was moments ago.

"I- I was forced to get into a deal with them." He breathed out I felt extremely curious.

"Go on. What’s the deal about?" Blaze demanded and Kim flinched. It was clear that he was beyond traumatized by the things he had been through in Blaze’s hands.

"I was able to convince them that you weren’t the one who came to rescue Jules. They all believed it was you because Eugene made it known to them that you were the one who killed those two vampires... so they were certain that you were the one who rescued him from our grasp, and they believed I was working for you...

He trailed off to exhale slowly before continuing.

"So, I was able to convince them that you weren’t the one who came to save him, and that you’ve never previously approached me to work for you."

Blaze was silent after that and I watched as Kim fidgeted.

"I didn’t have a choice, I had to get out of that situation at all means and that was what I was able to come up with!" He cried out defensively and Blaze snorted behind me.

"What happened after that?" Blaze finally asked.

"They didn’t believe me at first, because they claimed you’d never approach someone like me."

"They’re clearly right. I’d never approach someone like you on a normal day, Kim. You’re irrelevant in this entire situation, you’ve been irrelevant from the onset." Blaze responded, voice cold and sharp and I bit on my bottom lip, eyes widening as my gaze darted towards Kim who visibly inhaled deeply, like he just got physically slapped across the cheek.

I averted my gaze before he could meet mine, because I wanted to reduce the level of humiliation he’s undoubtedly experiencing right now.

"Kim." Blaze called out, a clear warning for Kim to continue.

He ended shifting in his seat before continuing, and this time, his voice cracked a little as he began to speak once again.

"I- I was able t- to get them to believe that you approached me to work with you. So, they ended up asking me to b- betray you and to act like I’m working for you, while sabotaging your work from the back."

"Did my father show up?" Blaze asked and I stopped breathing after that.

Kim instantly shook his head. "No. He didn’t, none of the higher-ups did. People who worked for them came in their place and were supposed to b- bring Jules straight to them."

Once he was done speaking, Blaze let out a laugh which vibrated through his chest, and I felt it against my back as it filled the room.

Kim sat frozen in the same spot, eyes wide as it darted around, like he could actually escape if he wanted to.

I almost felt sorry for him.

Blaze rose to his feet in the next moment after gently moving me off his laps and once again, I felt my cheeks color a little.

I watched as Blaze walked towards Kim who let out a strangled sound as he hurriedly inched backwards on the couch, like he wanted to crawl and disappear into the back of the couch.

Blaze finally stopped before him before speaking.

"You aren’t gonna betray me, are you?"

Kim frantically shook his head in response while stumbling over his words. "I- I won’t, I s- swear it."

Blaze snorted a little before holding a hand out. "Give me your hand."

Kim’s eyes widened and tears sprang to his eyes as his lips wobbled when he tried to speak. "But I—"

Blaze easily cut him off. "Give me your hand, Kim."

Kim’s hand shook as he stretched it out and as soon as Blaze grasped his wrist, he let out a strangled sound, eyes getting filled up with so much fright that I had to look away.

I didn’t know what blaze was trying to do, and so I glanced back at them out of curiosity.

My mouth dropped open as I watched Blaze retrieved the cigarette from his mouth before pressing the orange tip right into the top of his wrist.

Kim wailed loudly and I had to abruptly turn away. My heart was pounding so loudly, I could feel it in my ears.

Kim continued to wail and it felt like his cries were stabbing at my heart. After about a minute which felt like hours, Kim’s wails petered out and as my gaze darted towards them, I watched as Blaze dropped the cigarette on the floor.
