Chapter 90: You Should Be Scared
Jules’ pov
My eyes widened at his question. I felt so taken aback, that was the last thing I expected him to say.
"What?" I whispered and he snorted as he walked over the fridge and retrieved a drink which he opened and chugged a few mouthfuls from before speaking again.
"It’s not something you should be afraid of admitting. It’s alright if you’re afraid of it."
My eyes widened even more and I carefully set the bowl of chips down to avoid mistakenly spilling its content.
When I turned around, Blaze was standing a few inches away from me. His eyes were significantly darker than they were a few minutes ago, and I wondered if the shade of his eyes changes with his emotions.
"I’m not scared of your powers, blaze." I finally spoke, while making sure to appear extremely honest, like I actually feel.
I genuinely don’t feel scared or freaked out by his powers. Sure, it wasn’t normal for a werewolf to be able to do those kinds of things, but that doesn’t mean I’d suddenly be scared of him because of that, because I’m not.
Having witnessed displays of powers since I was born, watching him teleport and have the speed of a vampire wasn’t that surprising to me. It had only shocked me because he was a werewolf.
He remained silent long after I spoke, all he did was to close the distance between us and brush the hair out of my face, rucking it behind my ear.
He leaned down till his face hovered above mine and I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I blinked up at him.
A smile slowly broke out across his face and I shivered a little, teeth snagging on my bottom lip as I watched the smile widen even more.
"You don’t know half of the things i can do, bunny." He finally spoke and I sucked in a sharp breath.
"Oh." I whispered quietly and he hummed as he brushed my hair once again.
"That’s right. There’s a whole lot of shit I can still do. You’d be freaked out if you found out." He continued and I swallowed emptily before slowly shaking my head.
"I won’t be." I responded, and I felt proud of myself because my voice didn’t waver or stutter.
The side of his lips twitched this time as he spoke. "You sound so sure."
I exhaled slowly and tried to gather my wits as I spoke next.
"I- I won’t ever be freaked out or scared of your powers, of anything you can do." I responded, heart racing as I licked my bottom lips and tried to keep holding his gaze.
"What if I want you to be?" He asked, voice so soft, that at first, I wasn’t sure if I heard right.
My eyes widened and my heart jumped into my throat as I blinked up at him, unsure of what to make of what he had just said.
"Uh..." I began, trailing off because I still had nothing to say.
His fingers trailed softly underneath my chin, tilting my head up and making our noses brush against each other’s.
"What if I need you to be scared?" He continued and I swallowed emptily, heart racing like it was about to fly out of my chest.
"I- I still won’t be." I squeaked out in response and he let out a laugh this time before shaking his head.
"You should be scared, bunny." It was like a curtain had draped over his face, leaving his face blank and emotionless. There was no teasing lint in his voice as he spoke, it was clear that he was being serious, and for the life of me, I didn’t understand what he meant.
I thought he had asked if I was scared of his powers because he wanted to confirm that I wasn’t scared or freaked out by it. But now, it was apparently the other way round, he wanted me to actually be scared of it.
My mouth opened and closed, because nothing tangible as coming forth.
He continued to speak after a few more moments.
"You should run the other way without looking back... for your own good. Okay?"
It didn’t seem like he was asking for my own opinion. Even though I wanted to object, I couldn’t bring myself to, I couldn’t find my voice too. The only thing I could do was to slowly nod in response.
He brushed a kiss against my forehead shortly after that.
"Good boy." His voice was soft as he spoke this time. I wanted to feel like a good boy right now, like I was actually good, but I couldn’t.
I wasn’t good in any way.

"You should really stop wearing those contact lenses... your eyes are too pretty to be hidden by those lenses half of the time." He spoke as his eyes bored into mine and I suddenly felt shy underneath his gaze. We were currently about to go to sleep, and I had been staring straight ahead, lost in my thoughts, not knowing that he had been looking at my eyes until he spoke just now.
I bit the inside of my cheek before speaking. "I wish I could, but my shortsightedness..." The lie easily dropped off my tongue, then I instantly felt horrible for lying to his face again.
"You can wear colorless lenses, isn’t that what gets prescribed? Those colorless ones." He spoke and I stared down at my feet, hiding my eyes from him while I scrambled around my mind for something to say. Once again, he was right. They certainly do not prescribe colored lenses at the eye clinic, Blaze has proved how smart he is once again.
"You’re right. I had this one costomized because I like how the brown looks." I lied again.
At this point, I was becoming a hardcore liar, a really dumb and shameless one.
Blaze hummed as he slipped into the bed. I remained in the same spot before moving forward and sliding into the spot beside him.
"You’re not really short sighted, are you?" He suddenly asked and my eyes widened in panic while my mouth dropped open in shock.
