Chapter 91: Have You Been Honest With Me?

Jules’ pov

Blaze was leaning against the headrest of the bed, and he had a brow arched as he regarded me silently.

"I... I am." I responded after a few moments, hating how my words stuttered a little and how my heartbeat was racing again.

He remained silent and as the seconds stretched out between us, so did my heartbeat accelerate even more. I felt uneasy and nervous as I stared down at my fingers.

As I bit on my bottom lip and glanced back at him, he motioned me over with a come hither motion and I crawled forward, hesitating a little before gingerly sliding across his laps.

His large hands settled on my hips, tugging me forward till our chest was pressed together. I let out a squeak, breath hitching in my throat and eyes widening as I tentatively wrapped my arms around his shoulders and rested my head against his shoulder, leaning into him even more.

We remained in that position for minutes, it felt so much like a hug. His arms had slid off my waist to completely wrap around my waist, holding me firmly against his chest, and my arms had somehow tightened around his shoulders.

I let out a long sigh and let my eyes fall close as I dragged in a deep breath, filling my lungs with his scent and wanting to be consumed by that scent.

"Bunny?"

I stopped breathing for a few seconds before slowly pulling away to stare into his eyes. My arms were still wrapped around his shoulders and there was barely any gap between us.

Blaze’s gaze was piercing as he regarded me some more before speaking.

"Have you been honest with me?"

I blinked once, mouth dropping open and heart starting to pound once again. It suddenly felt like I was about to be set on fire. I wanted to unwrap my arms from his shoulders and climb off his laps, but his arms were still firmly wrapped around my waist, which means I was technically trapped against him.

I swallowed emptily and awkwardly cleared my throat.

"Y- yeah, I have." I finally whispered in response, heart feeling like it was about to burst out of my chest.

"Are you certain?" He continued and I bit on my bottom lip before nodding slowly. It felt like a lump was in my throat, one which was making it harder for me to breathe.

"I am." I breathed out after a few seconds and he let out a low hum before his hold on my waist tightened even more. His dark eyes bored into mine, making it feel like my lungs were growing empty with each passing second.

"Bunny, I need you to be honest with me. Can you do that for me?" He asked after a little while and I sucked in a deep breath before nodding my head repeatedly in response, heart flying into my throat.

"I need words." He rapped out, voice still pitched low, but still managing to make me more nervous.

"I can." I responded quietly and once again, he let out a pleased hum while regarding me with dark eyes that felt like he was unraveling me with them.

"Are you hiding anything from me?" He finally asked and once again, my heart flew into my throat. I tried to not let everything I was feeling show on my face, but I wasn’t sure it I managed to pull it off.

I wasn’t dumb.

Okay, perhaps I am.

But not that dumb.

I could tell that he suspected that I was keeping something away from him, which is nothing but the truth.

I’ve lied to him so much that it was starting to make me feel sick.

I wanted to be honest with him so badly, to tell him the truth and not leave a single detail behind, but I didn’t do that, instead, I told him another lie.

"No, I’m not hiding anything." I mumbled in response, while silently kicking my lying ass in my head.

Blaze didn’t ask a second time, he didn’t press or call me out on the fact that I was clearly telling lying. Instead, he let out another hum and tugged me against him even more. He reached up and pushed at my neck till I was slotting my face between his shoulder and neck.

"Go to sleep, bunny."

I wanted to ask him if he really wanted us to fall asleep tonight like this, with me straddling his laps and resting against his chest, but I refrained from doing that and let my eyes fall close instead.

With his scent filling up every inch of my lungs, I ended up drifting off to sleep.

When I blinked my eyes open the next morning, the bed was empty.

This was the second time in a row that I’d be waking up in an empty bed, without Blaze’s arm around my waist, preventing me from moving an inch.

There and then, I decided that I hated waking up this way.

When I first shared a bed with Blaze, I told myself it was a very big inconvenience to wake up with his arm around my waist, preventing me from leaving, not until after I had to beg for my freedom. But right now, it made me feel extremely grouchy and as I rolled out of the bed, I absentmindedly wondered if that was a good or a bad thing.

Blaze was in the restroom when I pulled the door open and was about to walk in. I had just been thinking about him, and seeing him in here with a toothbrush in his mouth made my heart swell up with so many emotions at once.

I bit on my bottom lip on remembering how we had fallen asleep last night.

I slowly stepped into the restroom, feeling butterflies flapping around in my stomach as he tugged me forward and maneuvered me around till I was standing before him in front of the mirror, and him behind me till our eyes locked in the mirror.

He pillowed his chin on my head and slid his arms around my waist, and my heart started to race as I tried not to break out a smile from how giddy I was currently feeling.

"Good morning, bunny." He spoke through the toothbrush in his mouth and I found myself giggling a little.

"Good morning, Blaze." I responded and I watched as his eyes twinkled in the mirror.

"Kim is coming over." He announced.
