Chapter 179: Nail on the coffin

Jules pov

"This is like the final nail on the coffin, now Andrian isn’t gonna have to put on a front before me." I breathed out as I raked my fingers through my hair, still feeling nervous even though we were no longer standing before Blaze’s father.

"At this point, I think you can go ahead and confront him, call him out on his bullshit and ask him what he wants to do with you. This should be for whenever he decides to call you." Blaze explained as he shoved his pnone into his pocket, eyes wandering around for a moment.

We were currently standing away from the arena where the competition was currently taking place. Blaze had been pissed after we exited his father’s presence but that didn’t seem to be the case any longer.

"Do you think Andrian and your father are working together?" I asked because I was still reeling from the shock of today’s encounter.

"I think so, although it seemed like Andrian, or in this case, Valentino, had another plan in mind. Perhaps he’s currently planning on betraying my father. But that’s the fastest way to encounter disaster." Blaze snorted at the end of his sentence and my mind got filled with the image of his father once again.

"Do you know that I’ve seen your father before?" I breathed out after a few moments. Blaze hummed as he brushed my hair out of my face.

"You have? On the internet?" He asked and I slowly shook my head.

"No, not that. I’ve met him in person." I explained and a frown settled across his face the next moment.

"Where and when? Are you sure?" He inquired and I nodded. I was more than sure, that was a face I’d never forget.

"On the night my family and the entire clan got murdered." I revealed and Blaze’s eyes widened, frown deepening.

"In the scene?" He asked and I slowly nodded again.

"Yeah, but before the massacre happened. You see, that night, I was supposed to perform, to display my magic skills." A pang of hurt pulled at my chest as I continued. "But before I went to perform that night, my father pulled me aside and introduced me to a bunch of men, and then he informed me that I’d have to select one of them and get married to whoever I decide to select." As I explained, Blaze’s eyes widened even more.

"What?" He echoed and I exhaled slowly while nodding.

"Your father was among those men that night. I could remember being creeped out because all the men were as old as my father, and after that night, I assumed they all ended up dying that night along with my father. One didn’t die at first, and I thought that was the one who staged everything and betrayed my father. But when Andrian showed up, he ended up killing that man... so I just assumed I was the only survivor. I didn’t know your father made it out alive, or that he was your father as well."

Once I was done speaking, blaze began to massage his forehead, seeming like he was in deep thoughts.

"Wait... some of this is starting to make sense." He finally started to speak, forehead creased in a frown as he continued. "This whole time, I thought my father wanted you for something sinister but I never contemplated that he wanted you this whole time because he... desired you."

My eyes widened in condition as Blaze spoke.

"Huh?" I whispered.

"I used to think my father was straight... what if he wasn’t as straight as I’ve always thought, and what if he had been trying everything to get you just because he wants to get a taste of you or something." He continued, a scowl slowly stretching out across his face.

"That’s probably why he referred to you as a piece of cake back there. How dare he?" Blaze growled, it was clear that he was currently pissed and I bit on my bottom lip, completely unsure of what to say next.

"B- but is that... could that be the only reason?" I mumbled. "I mean, surely he hadn’t been going through all this trouble just because he desired me. That- that doesn’t sound sensible, there’s nothing about me that’s worth all that stress."

Blaze tugged me against me once I was done speaking. "Stop speaking about yourself that way, bunny." His voice was a little sharp as he spoke and I nodded at once, squealing out a response.

"There’s a lot more to this, a lot more. There’s probably a bigger picture which we aren’t seeing. How did he get to know your father? Were they friends? Business partners? Was he the one who actually betrayed your father that night? What did he actually want with you? Does he know something we don’t? There’s a lot of questions on the ground which we need answers to." As Blaze spoke, I desperately wished he had answers to every question he was listing, I’d give anything to get to the roots of this whole thing right now.

"I’m worried." I finally admitted after a little while as I pulled away from his chest to stare into his face. He was currently leaning against a wall and had a cigarette between his lips.

"Don’t be, bunny. Nothing’s gonna happen to you." He said and I shook my head.

"What about you? What if something happens to you? Your father didn’t seem like he was joking, and he kept threatening you every now and then throughout that encounter. I admitted and he snorted before puffing out a whiff of smoke.

"My father cannot do shit to me. It’s why he never directly comes for me no matter what." He explained with an insane amount of confidence and even though I knew he was strong and very deadly, I had a feeling his father was worst, and that he had been toying with him this whole time and is just gonna bring the big guns out this time.
