Chapter 176: D-Day 2

Jules’ pov

My eyes instantly widened while my heart flew upwards, only to get stuck in my throat, which prompted me to let out a couple of coughs.

I couldn’t see Blaze’s face because he had his back facing me, but I could feel irritation oozing from his body in waves, and that made me stiffen even more.

"Tell my father I had no intention of showing up." Blaze’s voice was calm as he spoke and I bit on my bottom lips, stomach slowly getting into knots from how nervous I was gradually becoming.

"B- but your highness..." one of the men stuttered just as Blaze stepped back and slammed the door in their face. When he turned around, he rolled his eyes in clear irritation right before our eyes locked.

He cupped my head and tugged me closer.

"Relax, bunny. Nothing’s gonna happen." He spoke softly and I let out a slow exhale as I tried to will my racing heart to calm down.

"Okay." I whispered, wrapping my arms around his waist and pressing my forehead against his chest.

Nothing’s gonna happen. Stop being so worried.

I repeated these two sentences a few times in my head, and got interrupted by a knock resounding off the door once again.

Blaze let out a low groan as he turned around and pulled the door open once again.

"Y- your h- highness, your f- father..." The two men were back again and like before, one of them struggled to speak. Blaze cut him off before he could finish a sentence this time.

"Didn’t you relay my response to my father?" He demanded and both men sucked in sharp breaths at the same time. They were both clearly afraid of Blaze, which made me wonder what they witnessed to make them this scared of him.

"W- we did, b- b- but he..." The second one began to speak but turned out to be worse than the first one. The first one peeked sideways, clearly trying to get a glimpse of me. I was standing behind Blaze, because of our height difference, it made me completely hidden behind Blaze.

Blaze reached out at an alarming speed and grasped the man’s throat. "Why are you trying to look at him?" He demanded and I sucked in a sharp breath at the same time .

The man began to stutter but Blaze shoved him off.

"If you both show up here again, I’ll break your legs." He snapped right before he slammed the door in their faces. When he turned around this time, he combed fingers through his hair and let out a long breath.

Before either of us could say anything, my phone rang, the sound coming from the bedroom. Our eyes locked in the next moment before I turned away to go check who the caller was.

It was Andrian.

I considered ignoring it and ignoring him throughout today, knowing he’s undoubtedly down at the fucking competition, waiting to take me to where he’d definitely have me all to himself so he could finally do what he plans on doing this whole time.

Yeah no. That’s never gonna work.

The call ended but began to ring almost immediately and I accepted it this time.

After asking if I slept well, he asked if I was already packed and also if I’d bid all my friends goodbye because I might not get to see them again. I rolled my eyes as I listened to him speak. The phone’s on a loudspeaker so Blaze could hear everything he was saying.

"I’m sorry Andrian, but I’m not coming down." I finally responded and when he tried to say something else, I abruptly ended the call.

My eyes instantly widened in worry, I had never done something like that before, but Blaze assured me that I did just fine.

After a few minutes, Blaze’s phone rang.

It was his father.

"Could have sworn you lost my number." He said as soon as he answered the call, sounding bored out of his mind and I sucked in a sharp breath, eyes widening in surprise.

That was the last way I assumed that he’d speak to his father whenever they had an encounter.

"Are you refusing to show up today because of that boy?" A deep voice from Blaze’s voice filled the room and I believed that was Blaze’s father. My heart beat instantly accelerated even more.

"You’re suddenly interested in something concerning my life? How surprising." Blaze drawled in response.

"You should introduce us." Blaze’s father spoke next and I almost lost my footing in the next moment.

"You think I’m scared of you? You think that’s why I’m not there right now?" Blaze laughed as he spoke and I found it hard to breathe.

"I mean... you tell me." Blaze’s father responded, and then the call ended.

"Fucking bastard." Blaze growled as he stared at the phone and when his eyes met mine, there was something else there, a fiery emotion.

"You know what we’re gonna do next?" He asked next as he closed the distance between us and tilted my chin up. My heart was still in my throat as I shook my head, eyes still widened.

"We’re gonna show up at the fucking competition." He announced and my heart hammered against my ribs and I let out a ragged breath.

"Are you sure? I- is that a great idea?" I whispered and he hummed as he carded his fingers through my hair.

~~~
I clung to Blaze’s hand as he led me through the crowd. I could feel everyone’s eyes on us and I tried to ignore the entire attention.
When Blaze finally slowed down, I followed his line of sight and I grew frozen in the same spot, mouth dropping open as my eyes landed on the person who I believed was Blaze’s fatter.
I’d recognize that face anywhere.
It was one of the faces of those men who been in the group of men whom my father had asked me to select a husband from.
What. The. Fuck.
