Jules’ pov

"What?" I blurted out, eyes widening in horror and utter disbelief. My heart instantly began to race and I stiffened at once.

I should’ve known something was gonna ruin this day. I should’ve known a day this perfect was gonna get ruined somehow no matter what.

Blaze hummed beside me as he sipped from his coffee again.

"Two men. They’ve been following us since we got tickets." He explained and my eyes widened even more.

"What? That long?" I demanded.

"I needed to be sure they were really following us." He explained and I let out a long sigh, feeling too drained all of a sudden.

I stared down at the rest of my ice cream, suddenly feeling too exhausted to eat the rest of it, and so I placed it beside my feet.

"So... what are we gonna do? Are we in danger?" I asked after a few minutes and Blaze snorted.

"Far from it. They didn’t seem like they’re here to harm us. They’re just here to tail us and report to someone from the looks of it." Blaze explained as he drank the rest of his coffee and threw the cup into the bin from his spot beside me. The bin was quite far, which made that very impressive.

I wasn’t the only one who found that impressive, a guy who was walking past with a little boy stopped to let a low whistle.

"Cool, man." He called out with a wave which Blaze returned with an easy smile.

"That’s a human." He informed me was the person was far gone and my eyes widened in disbelief.

I’ve never met a human before, or seen one until right now.

"How can you tell? He looked quite normal." I asked in the next moment.

"I’m not sure. Most people can’t tell until they get close to them so they could check if the person has a scent or doesn’t. Humans doesn’t have scents." He explained and I nodded slowly.

"So why was I bullied when I first enrolled into carnivals by some students who called me a human even though I had a scent. Even with my powers locked away, I never lost my scent,"

Blaze snorted this time. "They were just being bullies. Dumb bullies. Everyone could tell you had a scent from the onset. It’s why most of them still want you till date because your smell is so... alluring." I felt my cheeks heat up a little this time and I coughed a little.

"So... what are we gonna do about the people tailing us?" I asked as Blaze rose to his feet and stretched a little.

"They’re currently behind us, trying to act desecret and failing woefully at it." He snorted as he spoke and I instantly whirled around in curiousity.

"Don’t look, bunny!" Blaze calked out with a laugh as he stopped me with a hand before I could fully turn around. He shook his head as he tugged me to my feet.

"They still think we’re unaware of their presence, let’s leave them to still keep deluding themselves." Blaze said as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and began to walk back in the direction we exited about thirty minutes ago.

I badly wanted to turn around and take a peek at the people who were tailing us because now that I’ve been told about it, I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it.

"What do you wanna do next?" Blaze asked and I blinked at him in surprise.

"We are still having the date?" I asked and he nodded without hesitation.

"Of course." He responded. "We’re just gonna pretend it’s just us until whenever we’ve had enough."

I bit on my bottom lip. "So... what if they go call on more of their men in order to ambush us or something?" I asked and Blaze hummed.

"That’s not gonna happen, bunny." He informed me with so much conviction in his voice.

"Okay." I finally agreed.

It was harder than I expected to pretend that we weren’t being tailed, but after I got on a Ferris wheel, after screaming and laughing so much, I forgot about that in no time.

After a few more rides, I felt like I’d faint if I get on any more ride. Blaze was currently holding most of my weight. I felt like a sack of potato, like I was drunk on the entire adrenaline from the entire rides. My entire veins felt like it was filled with so much energy and my heart was still lodged in my throat.

"Would I have to carry you back to the car?" Blaze asked with a chuckle while handing me an opened bottle of water and I shook my head as I gulped down some of it.

"I’m gonna walk. Let me just catch my breath a little." I gasped out once I could speak.

Blaze found a spot for us to sit at and I flopped against his side while heaving for breath.

"This is the best day ever, Blaze." I muttered against his shoulder and he chuckled while massaging my forehead.

"Oh yeah? Wanna come here tomorrow?" He asked in amusement.

"Maybe next week." I mumbled after a little contemplation and he laughed again and my heart has never been fuller.

"Are we still being tailed?" I asked Blaze as he got my door open for me.

"Yup." He responded as he walked around and got into his side of the car.

"Wow. I kind of forgot about that." I admitted but Blaze only snorted.

"I’m gonna lead them to somewhere secluded then I’d question them. I was tempted to do that more than once in the park but I reminded myself that wasn’t a place for violence." He explained as he started up the car and pulled out of the spot he was packed in.

I flopped against the headrest and let out a long sigh. "I had a really great day today."

When we arrived at the park this morning, I never imagined that I’d have this much fun.

"I selected it because I wanted you to have fun, which means my end goal is now achieved."

I let out a giggle as I glanced at him. "It really was achieved."

I agreed and he grinned in satisfaction.

"I took so many pictures of your screaming your head off during every ride." He announced and I let out an indignant gasp, sitting up In bewilderment.

"You didn’t! Delete it right now! I’m sure I looked like a mess in all of them." I whined but he only laughed while informing me that my wish was never gonna happen.
